Zelda is not the best game series ever, nor is it the best Nintendo series ever.

nope every boss is gannon (except for like 3)ocerania of time is the most overrated crap on the planet and suprisingly the only zelda game that is actually good. funny how that works

like call of duty :)Hah, oh no. Not even close really for me. Don't get me wrong I do have a lot of nostalgic feelings for the old ones but no...too many better series out there for Zelda to take that win.

If it has a 25% on the poll that is amazing. This is such an unfair poll for one series :P. And YES its easily my favorite series ever. OP, what would you say is the best series?

 No.
I would put Baldurs Gate series before Zelda for starters, easily.

Sounds like you just dont like adventure games. Either that your like hating on popular things.
It's probably the most overrated. They've been making largely the same game for years and years with minor differences.
zelda is a great series....but would be better if it was on the 360 and ps3....it would have blood and gore.....maybe a darker storyline.

why are you comparing two different genres?

The core is the same, but there are such VAST differences each time. How someone could say this, then say that Gears of War, Mass Effect, Killzone, or tons of others are awesome, boggles my mind.

Yep, cause Fable is a lot darker than Twilight Princess. And darker is always better ;).

Vast differences? Hardly. Anyway we're talking about zelda not those franchises so stick to the topic please.

The question was "is zelda the best series made", not "is zelda the best action adventure game".[QUOTE="NaveedLife"]

He is talking about every game stacking up to Zelda, so me bringing in comparisons is perfectly fine, thank you.
I am simply saying I disagree with you, as Zelda keeps thing fresh just as much, if not more than most any other series. Yes it has a lot of simlarities, but so does TONS of games. The Diablo series, guess who you fight at the end? DIABLO! Are they awesome and highly regarded? Yes ;).

Completely different. Those games are sequels within a series, tied together by an ongoing plot. The gameplay stays mostly similar, with slight changes or improvements, but the story builds on each other. Zelda has very similar gameplay with slight changes each time... and the same story most of the time as well, although once in a while they vary it slightly. Same with Mario. I loved Zelda back in the day, but the last few I played just bored me.Can't beat Assassin's Creed! :P Anyway, what turns me off Zelda is the fact that each storyline is basically the same thing. Sure, the presentation varies hugely, but the basic plot summary is always pretty much the same.the best action adventure series ever made, its never less then amazing each one
Mario1331
It's one of the best but which is the best is up to personal opinion.
I personally like the Mario series over it.
I believe it is(or perhaps mario). I can't even begin to think of another game that incorporates ALL elements of game design as well as Zelda does. It is a very cohesive world.

Sure, the presentation varies hugely, but the basic plot summary is always pretty much the same. if you narrow it down to "the basic plot summary", then 90% of games are "[space] army guy shoots a lot of guys", "revenge story", "zombie/nuclear/whatever apocalypse survivor must... survive", among other seemingly uninteresting plots. my point is that the plot doesn't make the story, much less the game. hell, assassin's creed's story is practically an excuse to go kill dudes, most of which you barely meet, especially on the first one (even though it's one of my favorite franchises and one of the best new things from this gen :P)the best action adventure series ever made, its never less then amazing each one

Zelda is:
Not the best , one of the best.
And what makes it one of the best is the unique overall gaming experience it provides..
But the later years it started getting one of the same. I hope Zelda SS provide new mechanics and elements to the world of Zelda otherwise , i see another flop coming despite all the hype and chaos Nintendo fans bring the last months

I think Skyward Sword will be excellent. Why?
The director of Skyward Sword (Hidemaro Fujibayashi) is the director of The Minish Cap and the director of Oracle of Seasons + Ages.
If you love those games, you will love Skyward Sword.

Zelda is:
I usually can enjoy any game that people say is over rated. I can't find anything I enjoy from a zelda game. The only one that I could see myself playing was A link to the past if I tried it when it was released, I could imagine having fun with that game at the time, but not now. N64 ones my friends liked them, I couldn't get myself to play it at all.
Zelda games made me always skip over Dark Cloud 1 at stores, because of the image on the front cover reminded me of it. Until I tried it out, was one of my favorite games.
