Activision won't go anywhere the PS3 is planning a price cut at the Tokyo Game Show

http://liveplaystation.webnode.com/news/ps3-price-cut-to-be-announced-at-tokyo-games-show/

once this happens and God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2 the playstations will be flying off the shelves.

Hopefully I see $299 or $250 more people will experience what we playstation 3 users have been experiencing the real next gen with the most reliable system and best games by far.

inFAMOUS, Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, MLB The Show 09, Resistance 1&2, Warhawk, Uncharted 1 and 2

BEHOLD THE PS3 PRICE CUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I honestly wouldn't get my hopes up because every time a big event comes around, sony doesn't do it. The most logical thing would be to price cut the console near the holidays.

I agree i've been expecting a price cut for the last year or so and it never happend. I thought for sure they would've annouced one at E3 and was surprised when it didn't happen so won't be surprised this time.

The ironic thing about that entire statement is that my PS3 busted. Stopped reading discs. Yes, I will be buying another when the 160GB Console drops in price. No, I could not warrant spending $150 to get my 40gb PS3 fixed. Sold it and putting the money towards the 160GB version when the price goes down.

That whole "most reliable" thing really bothers. Perhaps I might be in the minority but, frankly, I've owned all consoles since the Atari 2600 and only ones that have had issues are Sony and MS ones. MS with their 360 (though they fixed that for free) and Sony with their Playstation (original gray one) and PS3. Both stopped reading discs from Sony. Both were after the 1 year warranty and both had to be paid for to be fixed despite the fact that I did nothing to them. So, yea, most reliable really bothers me.

Anyway, yea, bout time a price cut happened. If the 160GB gets dropped to either $450 or $400 I'm in for the 160GB PS3.

Rikusaki
That wouldn't make any sense, the holiday shopping season starts the day after Thanksgiving. For Sony to have an effective price cut, it would have to be in November - that's assuming they are going to do it this year. Sometimes the thinking going into a holiday is "why price cut?" People have the highest incentive to buy during the holidays - if Little Timmy Gamer wants a PS3, Mom & Dad aren't going to let $100 make-or-break the decision. - The alternative to that thinking is "we're in an economic crisis, Mom & Dad don't have the money they used to, and a bundle isn't going to matter if they can't drop $500 on it". But Sony hasn't thought that way this entire generation - they priced the PSP Go! at $250 for crying-out-loud... so it's a bit odd to think "wait, they're going to have a $250 handheld next to their "soon to be $300" system"? We'll see I guess.

It is more reliable statistically. Like Plane Travel vs. Cars, but I bet if you asked a Plane survivor if he would drive next time, he would probably say, "yeah".

Also, Sony has been coming to SW for years, and they knew to sell Puckhog a jacked unit, since you dissed Sony all those years in the PS2 days, and for playing Ninja Blade.

You were asking God for a sign of a price cut on a video game console? One that you already own? Just because a company like Activision decided to practice business ethics?

"Expect the long-awaited price chop to be announced at the Tokyo Games Show"

This year the Tokyo Games Show will be held from September 24 to September 27 in the Makuhari Messe, in Chiba, Japan. Sony could make this announcement a lot sooner now that Activision CEO, Bobby Kotick has threatened to stop supporting the PS3 if a price cut is not announced soon."

How is this a confirmation of any kind? It sounds kind of like speculation.

The Xbox 360 Arcade is on sale at Futureshop at 150 dollars It's half that price and it's easy to find for 150. It'll still be 300 which is a lot of dough. Not to mention Uncharted 2 and Heavy Rain will not move systems, God of War 3 will move a few but Heavy Rain and Uncharted will not.

when did the ps3 get it's first price cut?

do you mean when they stripped out all the cool features like the memory card slots and usb ports and the emotion engine?

gutting the hardware was not a price cut it was gutting the hardware.

Activision was never going anywhere away from sony, the call of duty franchise sells way to well on it, why would you stop publishing on a console that sells 4 million copies of modern warfare.

who cares what they cut I dont I have the backward compatible one but as long as it sells that's what matters

just like the 360 throw in an unreliable system, with paying for online charge $199 and it will sell.

I say go for it people will march like brainless zombies to buy it no matter what they take away.

but I doubt they willtake awayanything, because I heard they are already cutting even on making PS3s so they are not losing money anymore.

This is the content of the link provided:

"In their latest issue, PlayStation World Magazine have an article which could indicate the announcement date of the PlayStation 3 Price cut. The article reads:

"Expect the long-awaited price chop to be announced at the Tokyo Games Show"

This year the Tokyo Games Show will be held from September 24 to September 27 in the Makuhari Messe, in Chiba, Japan. Sony could make this announcement a lot sooner now that Activision CEO, Bobby Kotick has threatened to stop supporting the PS3 if a price cut is not announced soon."

How is this a confirmation of any kind? It sounds like kind of like speculation.

It's Good Confirmation of Good Speculation, instead of the Good Confirmation of Bad Speculation, or the Bad Confirmation of Good Speculation, or the worst which is Bad Confirmation of Bad speculation.

This is Grade A Top Notch Good Confirmation of Top Quality Great Speculation, man!

Jeebus H. Price! Be Thankful, and don't look at gift horse in the e-mouth.

lol, awesome dude!! Post of the day!!

Well, at least we got the cream of the crop level rumor's instead of the run of the mill stuff. :P

because the Magazine wrote this

"Expect the long-awaited price chop to be announced at the Tokyo Games Show"

so its coming

You're jumping to positive conclusions. Sometimes the word expect can mean that someone's prediction will follow. During the 2008 election, some pundits said stuff like "Expect Obama to win [insert state]" or "Expect McCain to pull out all the stops andgo negative". They didn't know for sure, but they were telling people what to expect based on their educated guesses.

What I'm getting at is that we have to see the article in question. We have to find out what is informing this statement. Now it's perfectly possible that they might have real concrete evidence of a price cut, but we don't know. For all you know, the "expect" statement could come mere confidence in their own prediction.

There's absolutely no confirmation in that link.
