[QUOTE="dragonball3900"] Vita has Uncharted, but the controls on that looked pretty underwhelming. FraquelliUnderwhelming? It plays just the same as the previous titles. The use of the touchscreen during climbing and fighting is optional. Great, I hated the look of using those touch screen controls.
It almost seems as though that majority of the people here think the 3DS will have better software than the Vita base the last generation of handhelds.hoplayletsplayNo, based on E3.
[QUOTE="Videodogg"][QUOTE="93BlackHawk93"]I feel sick inside if that is really the case. Mario, the face of gaming. Mario didn't make the gamecube the best selling system in it's generation. Nintendo can't rely on promises of games they need to actually show us something. Hell if anything it looks like the 3DS has the 3rd party doing all the really notable announced stuff.Topic ended at 2nd post. No need to continue.

more to hardware then just raw specs. 3ds has a great lineup thus far vita looks pretty underwhelming. Seems sony is trying to ride the omg graphix train once agian.
Dont get me wrong I will get the Vita becuase i get every system and will like it very much I think, I just think its funny how alot of people underestimate how powerfull Nintendo is with all of its exclusives. Mario Kart alone is more powerfull than ANYTHING vita could get.
mojito1988
By that, I believe you're refering to it's appeal and sale power.
CTR was by far the best kart game I've ever played, IMHO.
I don't underestimate Nintendo one bit. Hell, I'm happy to see that at least something this gen that isn't covered in grey, brown and guns has been getting much appeal and attention. But you gotta admit, Ninty has been too greedy ever since the Wii came rolling in. They overprice the 3DS using an overrated gimmick as an excuse. Not cool, man. Not cool. =/
And I think your last statement was a little exagerated. xD Sony can put up a good challenge if they play their cards right. They seem to have learned their lesson with the PS3. One thing is for sure though: the PSV will definetly be Nintendo's biggest competitor in the handheld market yet.
I'd take the 3DS's line-up of the PSV's any day. That could change in the future, but so far the PSV looks like a port machine.
hypoty
And the 3ds doesnt have any ports right? At least the Vita ports hold their own against the originals, but I guess that's what makes the 3ds better.
Seriously all Nintendo needs to do is overprice old hardware and throw Mario on it and they know it. Thats why they dont make any orininal games anymore, why should they when they have Mario and Pokemon.

Nintendo being Greedy? I'm a capitalist so I have no problem with a company making a killing if they can.
On the other point people are FAR to worried about Winning. Vita will do very well. Nintendo will do very well. Thats really all that matters. The "Fight" is mostly in the minds of the posters here on SW.

To their credit, the Mario game does look like a lot of fun. But yeah, it's kinda like how many celebrities become so famous, that they still make millions regardless of the quality of their work. Not to say that the 3DS sucks, mind you, but as long as it continues to be overpriced.... yeah,,, it sucks, and no amount of Mario or Zelda games is gonna change my mind.Nintendo basically forced Sony to price the PS Vita at $249.99. By doing so, Sony has made it so Nintendo cannot be complacent with the 3DS if they do not want to lose sales.
Meaning?
Competition is a beautiful thing. $249.99 for us gamers for a PS Vita and awesome content which leads to awesome value -- While Nintendo gives us updates for the 3DS and a steady stream of software to stay competitive and provide value. We win, lol.

If they keep Mario/Zelda fun then I don't see what the problem is. I'm just comparing what I saw at E3, to me the 3DS seems to have an advantage over the Vita due to that first party offering. The only Vita game that interested me was Uncharted.
It is a very fair fight 3DS Vs PSvita at $250.00 each. Nintendo has ahead start. March 2011 to Sony in November/December 2011. In the end it is about the games if Nintendo can have those games ready by the time Sony is ready to launch PSVita. Sony VS Nintnedo to start off the 8th Generation. Nintendo has the head start in both the handhelds and the home console "battles" of the 8th Generation.
The games will decide the winner between 3DS and PSvita. Nintendo has won during the Gameboy and DS series. The 3DS is the third series of handhelds for Nintendo. So the fight is fair for both sides Sony Vs Nintendo. Sony could walk into a price drop and/or Killer 3DS games when PSVita launches.
A fair "fight" 3DS VS PSVita.
3Ds will still outsell the PS Vita. I love how Sony fanboys believe so strongly in Sony. Its hilarious how Sony can do no wrong and they will always win, even though they've done very little winning this gen. The golden Sony days are OVER.
mynamesdenvrmax
dude he is not talking about winning.... he is looking at price. comparing what each console offers and price. that is all. AND to me its a fair question. I wonder if Sony is losing any money on this and how much profit Nintendo is making, if they are making any profit and if Sony is losing any.

I have to disagree. BOTH companies are fighting for their lives aginst ALL mobil devices that can play games. IF taken in total they are not the majior players, and as Mobil devices GENERATIONS update a lot faster than handheld gaming devices they are facing a big hurddle. I wish both of them the best of luck. May they both have great success!!!!
I remember when the DS & PSP first came out, everyone was all like LOLOLOLOLOL Sony will own this. Who would have thought it. I'd put money on Nintendo crushing Sony once again. Sony handhelds just don't have the support by the public needed to beat the DS. I know one person with a PSP and every single one of the kids in my sisters class owns a DS. It's like 100-1.cyclops10\
True Sony really messed up with the single nub. And this time I think a 6.5 inch screen would have been a lot better. I remember trying to watch movies on the PSP and it was just too hard.
We will se how tings turn out. THEY both may fail due to APPLE and other mobil devices.
I've never really been into portables since the good old gameboy advance sp.
But me and my girl are both getting a Vita, the presentation impressed both of us very much. Full of features and coming with some really great games.
3DS doesn't seem attractive to me.

Maybe. But i can't see ''the kids' leaving the DS for an Apple product. The user base is just too massive.both are 100 bucks over priced.. just like wii 360 and ps3 were at launch:P i think its a fair fight:wink: both will lose until the price drops
Nintendo takes a big dump, calls it a game system and fans eat it up because it has Mario. What a first rate strategy; it's like they took a page straight from Apple.[QUOTE="Shirokishi_"]
This is how the 3DS can hold its price.
1st party titles almost every Nintendo fan wants.
Sorry to say but Sony doesnt have exteremly heavy 1st party hitters like Nintendo does. This fight may be over before it started regardless of the fantastic price of the Vita.
PS2_ROCKS
 at implying the 3DS is ***. Its actually a great system
Ugh... Vita isn't targeting the lil' audience who plays Marios and Pokemons. Instead, they are seeking FPS, action, adventure, and console gamers in a portable form factor at a fair price. Nintendo continues to rip-off their fellow gamers with underpowered hardwares and over-charging methods.
I completely agree that the 3DS is overprice and the Vita is an awesome deal. The vita's hardware interests me more, BUT the 3DS has some killer games coming, many of which come by the end of the year. I cannot ignore these games, and WILL get a 3DS sometime. Wether it is tomorrow or in a few years I do not know.

Yeah, if I were going to buy Asphalt, the Vita version would be the one to get. The smart phone version would be completely worthless, regardless of graphics.

Mr_BillGates
Not that I'm disagreeing with Vita's target audience, but wouldn't most of those people want a console game on like...a console? A console with a big screen TV and surround sound?
I don't know about you but even if PSV can run MW3 or BF3 unless the games are a lot cheaper (and going by the price of PSP gamescompared to PS2 and PS3 games they won't) wouldn't you rather have a console game on your home theater?
Please explain why that is. :)[QUOTE="soulitane"][QUOTE="r12qi"]

Very true that Mario has great brand recognition... Sony could make a Pacman bundle or something because I think I read somewhere that Pacman has greater brand recognition idk.
Alls I know is that anyone who thinks the 3DS will "fail" does not know Nintendo (Nintendo could have gone PS3 launch mode talking about enemy crabs and would still have a loyal fanbase on brand loyalty).
I am not taking a shot at Nintendo fans about the brand loyalty because with a Nintendo console comes great first party support and quality hardware (for the most part).
Also in addition to brand loyalty if you provide games gamers are interested in they can forgo a seemingly high priced or seemingly bad hardware designs. ( N64 had the games and that helped people brave the "trident" controller).
And right now while the Vita seems to be a vastly better deal ( to me atleast), to most gamers the announced 3DS line up curbstomps the Vita's.
I am more in favor of the Vita atm but both handhelds will do well because they have great games and that is what gamers want in my opinion.

Why would I need to? You made the claim that because of the gap in hardware between the 3DS and Vita, I assumed you would have some logical reasons to back it up. I was just curious to the reasons behind your claim which you have yet to substantiate it. Why would I need to portable things for multimedia though? If my phone or mp3 player even can do multimedia why would I want to carry yet another device around for it.ok heres a problem the bare bones or stripped down version is 250 the 300 version does what sony promised, and you have to have a cell phone carrier lol bill time ?
another problem if this vita has those announced games theres no way its going to out sell nintendos because they used that line up for psp already ,, i doubt people wil pay 250 to play ps3 games when they do already own a ps3 or 360 , lol . for psp to succeed it needs origianl games not console ports .,
-this is somthing nintendo does best
for example you wont find nintendogs pokemon rpgs , or certain types of games ds 1 has ,
on wii
ps3 already has uncharted gran turismo kill zone etc etc and putting cod on a handheld? really , sorry but i had to laugh ,,
and some one says japan one more time you better realise why psp is finally selling more then ds , -lol ds is still far ahead by the way its because either
1 they have rpgs --- the west sure doesnt have the many good games japan has for psp , we see western fps or racing games and those dont do as well being ports
2--- every one and their mother has a ds
4 3ds is out
and price will drop on the 3ds you watch
see ds ,, it dropped its price afte rpsp 1 launched , even though it was already cheaper lol so why wouldnt they do it now

ok firstly you compared vita to a smart phone 6 buck games, and 40 buck 3ds games what if the power impacts price for games on ngp , 60 bucks or even 70 since this is portable , -ya forgot about that little detail before comparing 3ds and smartphones and asphalt on 3ds looks better then that one you posted for 6 bucks , and ya theres more then just asphalt on 3ds ,,Why would I need to? The DS had bad graphics compared to the PSP and smart phones, it's sold more than twice as much than the PSP (or nearly twice as much) and made nintendo lots of money . The Wii has much worse graphics than the 360 and PS3, it's sold much more than both of them. I fail to see the point you're trying to make. You may buy it for the multimedia functionality but for me I already have things in my pocket that can watch videos, access the internet, be used to make calls among other things, the only buying point for me is the games.[QUOTE="r12qi"][QUOTE="soulitane"] Why would I need to?
