Seriously, I think the previous numbers were released by VGchartz which seems that nobody truly regards as reliable..

So i hope these figures are more accurate cause it would show how all 3 consoles (PS3, 360 & Wii) managed to sell pretty well... Obviously if we are to compare PS3 to PS2/PS1 one will say PS3 failed to meet expectations, but we cannot always compare things... PS2 imo didnt face tough competition against the Xbox & Gamecube, while PS3 this gen had to face the suprisingly successful Wii and MS (360) which surely managed to increase its strength/presence in the gaming sector..

So the above along PS3 having released at such a high price point, slow start in terms of exclusives & had to catch up in the Online service dept, selling 77 million is imo still a great achievment ...

It was SONY who officially announced the Ps3 had sold 70 million in November, they must have channel stuffed big time to ship 7 million consoles in a month, Fair play to them , MS has been channel stuffing 360's all generation, i find it ironic that SONY beat MS at there own Game *hats off to SONY* delta3074

In that case the only thing i'm sure of is we'll never get accurate sales figures for consoles :( so we have to go by rumors or reports issued from time to time...

Congratulations Sony! This is the biggest triumphant and come back in the console history. And with this year's big three "The Last of Us", "GOW Ascension" and "Beyond", I predict PS3 leaving 360 to the dust period. gpuking
