@hardwenzen: That’s a bet you’d lose mate. The OG Switch cost $260 to make.
And they're using the same specs outside of the new screen that a vita had in 2011. No way such an archaic system is anywhere near $300 plus.

When you give up on Nintendo like I did and look at them more objectively, it's actually crazy how overpriced and underpowered their stuff is. The OLED Switch is such a disappointment compared to what everyone has been speculating the new Switch Pro to be, and at a price point that only adds insult to injury.

Curious, what has opened your eyes? What was the breaking point?
The typical Nintendo Derangement Syndrome exhibiting by the Nintendo haters in System Wars. Just like the same type of hatred against a certain former president.
You know, when I said something like this, everyone got on my ass in this forum.
Tbh it's a little rich for cows to call out Nintendo on this. When a system is popular, the prices stay high regardless of the tech inside.
I remember the PS2 was £170+ way past the garbage tech insides worth. Same with the PS3 and probably the PS4. The PS4 had something around the GTX 750 Ti with a CPU so bad, you can't really buy it. And it cost more than the Series S did when it launched. The Series S cost less than the Xbox One and PS4 base consoles as of November last year. PS4 is STILL £259 on Amazon. The Series S is £250 and it is much more powerful.
They all do this, and Sony is certainly no stranger to it. I remember these prices because whenever I looked into buying one late in it's life span, I'd be deterred by the price because it was worthless tech.
In my opinion it makes no sense for anyone to do this. They can make money from me with the games and services, make the hardware the easy way in.
That's where the Series S is amazing in my opinion.
Look above on the ps2 price cuts. No such thing as almost 5 years old and zero price cuts.
I did, we didn't get the lower end of the price cuts in the UK until the system was worthless. At the same time the PS2 was £179 the GC and OG Xbox was much cheaper, around £130.
I know tthat was for different reasons, but in terms of tech, the OG Xbox smashed the PS2. And there was quite a few good games on it still.
That's UK, tho. Completely another planet😎
If we're looking at the US (most likely the same in Canada), the price drops weren't uncommon, and that thing was selling a lot. So "don't lower the price of what's selling" doesn't apply cuz its a PS2 we're talking about.
Even the Wii had price cuts and that sold well. Nintendo has gotten so stingy with price cuts for their main system.

Don't have fun playing their games anymore.
@enzyme36: ”Cows still waiting for the Switch to become irrelevant."
I don't think anyone really cares. The point of these threads is to annoy faux-wegner, the Nintendo fanboy version of IP Daily.

So, you don't care but you are going out of your way to supposedly annoy faux-wegner? 😂
Seems like the lad has trolled you beyond repair.
Nintendo already has an established gaming franchise. No matter how behind their tech is.
Good for those who haven't bought a Switch yet, I guess.
<--- ME. Now I am contemplating on whether to get a Switch just for one game.
Yeah, yet still watch it fly off the shelves cause sheep gonna sheep. They are so afraid it'll become a collectors item they must get it. Nintendo marketing of "limited supply" is genius!

What's the reason behind that? You find them too kiddy?
If price is attached to horsepower, PS5 is also extremely overpriced for its low specs ... with that being said ... yeah, is hard to justify the $350 for the Switch OLED
I do not see how a PS5 is overpriced. For $400/$500 you get a complete system that is as powerful as a GPU close to that cost. Can not say the same thing about the Switch, which is, essentially, a woefully underpowered smartphone by today's standards.

It is when you consider the price of those smartphones. Consoles and handhelds will always be price efficient compared to PCs and smartphones.
A $350 Nintendo console has never succeeded. This is gonna flop, and then Nintendo will drop it to $300, drop the OG to $270 with eShop credit, and rush out the successor in FY2023 H2.
Its like you want it to fail real hard, but its just not happening😭OLED will be scalped because its new. It will be sold out everywhere (but easier to find than a ps5). Nintendo will print that cash by doing nothing. No price drops of the Switch until next year either.
Since you're still a sheep (a furious sheep), you should be happy.

Why would Nintendo drop the price of the OG Switch when it's breaking sales records?
I doubt the OLED Switch will be mass produced to the same extent as the OG Switch and the Lite. It's a premium Switch for the niche hardcore that Nintendo shadow dropped on a Tuesday, likely to bolster sales of Metroid Dread which was featured in the ad and is launching on the exact same day.
The OLED Switch really isn't going to influence the trajectory of the Switch whatsoever. It's a minor cash in, and likely one of half a dozen Switch revisions we'll see. The only reason it got so much attention was because of the 4K rumors started by outside sources.
You'll hate them no matter what, like all Nintendo haters do. When Nintendo has a successful console, y'all nitpick and tear it apart. I was wondering what the haters would do for the Switch. It was getting great exclusives and decent third party support while selling very well. Yet y'all manage to hate on it as well and call it Nintendo's worst console. You can't make this up. lol.
If I hated Nintendo that much, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. This console always felt like proper content was always too far away and the REAL party doesn't start until Switch 2. Hell, BotW2 is practically going to be held hostage until they can get the new model out. I'm not feeling the Switch right now and I'm expressing that. I don't care who cries about it.
@hardwenzen: Get off me, peasant.
The Switch will not fail. Why is it so hard for you to accept this? OLED edition will sell like crazy. Switch 2, in over 2 years from now, will sell as much. So if you were hoping for Nintendo to begin doing poorly so they actually try making good games, you're simply out of luck. They don't need to do anything when they're printing cash on auto pilot. What you currently see, its the future of Nintendo. You can always be delusional like Casey, and tell yourself that everything is fine
🙃
I must admit I'm disappointed there's no visual performance upgrade but the oled will fly off the shelves.

I wonder if you opened your eyes up and gave up on the iphone? Because that costs around $2000 to buy but only around $140 to make. I hope people will open their eyes, but im not going to hold my breath. I only slap my self upside the head for not buying the cult like apple stock 15 years ago. Theres tons of apple sheep out there willing to get fleeced. Its a damn shame, I missed that gravy train.

You have to compare it to the competition. I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max 512gb which is only $1,399 and that's Apple's best version of their best phone. There's other phones from other brands like Samsung with better technology and better specs, but not 10 times better. Also, unlike their computers, Apple's phones are actually competitively priced with the competition like Samsung. The Xbox Series S is 10 times more powerful and yet cheaper than the Switch OLED. You could argue that Apple products are overpriced, but their phones are competitively priced compared to the egregious disparity found in Nintendo's power to price ratios. Apple's computers are definitely overpriced and aren't competitively priced like their phones. But even still, Apple computer power to price ratios aren't as egregious as Nintendo's.
@arkephonic: The Switch is pretty powerful for a portable with 8 hour battery life. The Oled screen alone cost Apple $130 for a 5.8in. The OG Switch cost Nintendo $260 in parts, and that’s not counting R&D. Y’all really have no clue what y’all are talking about when it comes to pricing.

like I said, theres a sucker born every minute. https://navms.com/cost-of-production-for-iphone-12-and-iphone-12-pro-what-are-the-most-expensive-components/
Youd think that the cpu/gpu is the most expensive component in the iphone, or maybe the ram, but actually the OLED screen, cost $70 to buy from samsung, the qualcomm 5g modem sells for $90. Total bill to make is around $373, anywhere toe $450 max. So like I said...nintendo can charge whatever they feel like.

yep, and nvidia is famous for never giving discounts. I remember they had a falling out with MS over the issue, because they wouldn't reduce the price of their components in the xbox 360 even after 3 to 4 years. So MS went over to AMD side. Nintendo are just learning the kind of dbags nvidia are right now but I guess since the switch is selling like hotcakes at the current price anyway, it doesn't matter to them.
@hardwenzen: You're just jealous because you can't afford a 3080. Enjoy your old, crusty graphics card and your console with performance from 5 years ago.
LUL wut? How did you come up to that conclusion?
@mazuiface: How come Gamespot says the Switch has1 Tflops of performance?
Because they suck at research. Switch's Tegra X1 is rated at 1TFLOPS, but only at max clocks and only at half-precision. But Switch is underclocked and most games use full precision.
This is Nintendo been nintendo they have done this with almost all their portables, they make a cheap fix and re release as a new model yet keep the same high price.
The xbox and PS have done the contrary over many years with slims models nintendo just want people to keep paying more money for the same shit.
classic.

Tormentos actually talking about the Xbox in a positive light. This is how you know the Switch really bothers cows.
