Mac is easiest to hack because Apple don't need to make it hack-proof whereas MS need to make windows as hack-proof as possible and it still gets hacked loads.

what? that doesn't even make sence

That response made absolutely no sense. Apple doesnt need to make it hack-proof because no one cares enough to attempt to write a Virus on Mac, because it wont effect enough users.

[QUOTE="RPG-explorer"][QUOTE="DoomZaW"]

At the local apple store i can get one of those worktops or whatever they called, those with the hardware in the monitor, for 2000$, and that was with a 9200 geforce, 2gb ddr2 of ram 120gb HDD, and 2.2 intel duo i think, one quick at the internet and i can get a rig with a 1tb 7200rpm hdd, 6gb ddr3 kingston, a intel core i7 2,66ghz x 4, an ATI 5870. Heck my laptop costs half the price of the mac and it has better hardware... do i REALLY need to explain any further why i think macs are obsolete?

DoomZaW

Look at the specs of my MAC i listed because they are superior to the ones you listed and that is in an Apple Imac, which is the all in one MAC you were trying to name.

3.2 ghz Intel Core Duo processor
4GB DDR3 RAM
1 Terabyte Hard Drive
24 inch screen, resolution 1920x1200
Nvidia GE Force GT 130 512-ram video card
Super drive DVD Burner

You are kidding right? THAT is superior? to what i just listed? Besides, good luck finding that on the danish market with a 2000$ pricetag

all that and it only cost him 2300 haha:lol: i spend 850 and build a pc that puts his to shame

For the price of an apple computer I could build a much better PC.

No...for the price of an apple you can buy a comparable PC. Let me know if you need clarification.

Your bad english is not something anyone should ever get on to you about. However.

To say that apples dont need to be hack proof just because apple does not need to make them hack proof is bad.

Your logic is like saying.

There are 100 white people and 3 black people in a room. 10 of the white people get sick and only 2 of the black people get sick.. but its still clearly a white person sickness because more white people got sick than black. (not having anything to do with race just an example)

This annalogy provided to those that do not grasp an understanding of the term "low market share"

umm no you implied that MS deliberately tries to make its OS less easy to exploit, but they fail. Apple on the other hand doesnt have to because its somehow special, and It doesnt have to do anything and it wont get hacked. Clearly thats a very wrong, and horribly misinformed idea.

Look this is an age old battle, but the truth is Apples market share has increased over the past 5 years because, not only are people seeing that MAC's are more aesthetically pleasing to the eye but there also easier to use, and are not bogged down with gigs worth of useless software such as spyware and antivirus. PC users today consist of either business men and women who are forced to use PC's because there isn't yet an Apple equivalent program available, or the other type of PC user who has just been using PC's so long and so blindly there afraid of trying anything else. Some you to will realize the truth about which is better...it's just a matter of time.

My computer costed me 1800.00 to build, and now lets see you put all the parts in my PC or equivelent from Apple because Apple only lets you put certain parts in a computer. If your total comes out to 1800.00 I will buy a Mac right now, and post pics on SW.

Yeah dude totally guess how many years that prophecy has been said by Linux users? At Mac's current pace they will be the dominant OS in the year 2400. MS isnt going anywhere, and Windows will be the dominant OS well after we are dead based on current trends. Keep on touting the Mac fanboy company line, whatever lets you sleep at night.

Haha, my comment is too simple to understand. Let me explain. You're all totally right about Macs low market share, hence less reason to make Mac hack-proof. MS on the other hand, high market share, plenty of reason to make windows hack-proof. Get it now? Or am i completely missing the point.

No apples market share has increased over the past few years because of ingenious advertising campaigns.

Thats one end I gotta admit apple beats the hell out of microsoft. Microsoft cannot compete with how great of a marketing division apple has.

I mean.. without ever saying that apple is immune to viruses... they have you hook line and sinker beleiving they are with the power of suggestion.

again.. they never say apples are immune. They just suggest it to the point that when the advertisement says "less" you think "none"

can you provide an example

Go to any website where you could customize a gaming rig..ibuypower, cyberpower. Set yourself up with the budget of whatever Apple computer you would buy, and build the best PC you can, and there is your example.

Funny story more people use Microsoft Office, and MS had to go out of there way and make Office Mac compatible because IWork is a joke, and no serious business person would use Iwork for spreadsheets, or basic document use such as Word.

Apple's marketshare has fallen off since the Windows 7 launch, just as their marketing campaign has as well. They have dropped from almost10% in 2006back to almost 6%.

Irony? Mac normally recommended as specialist software PCs. The fact that there is a demand for a better word processor on Macs hints at a lot.

But my whole stance on the PC vs Apple issue is this: I used to have a Macbook Pro that I got a couple years ago, but my screen just randomyl died one day, my warranty was up, and apple wanted something ridiculous like $700 to fix it, which i opted not to do because that's BS. I loved my macbook though, especially since I already had a gaming PC. So my final stance is this..if I were to get a laptop, I would get a MAc, if I were to get a Desktop, then it would be a PC.

I believe most of Macs OS are built up from the old ones whereas W7 was developed from the ground up. I'm not sure so anyone can correct me on this. oh and W7 beats Snow Leopard so MS wins the OS round this time.

Wow that is unfortunate but Apple does offer every Applecare member a chance to renew there plan coverage for another 3 years for like $99.00 when your original plan runs out.

This is how I see myself getting a Mac one day. As a laptop. Not sure why, I guess it cos i can't build my own laptop and i hate getting rid of pre-installed software on normal laptops. I find most people that have problems with PCs just don't know how to keep their computer running smoothly. THey should teach linux at schools.

Windows 7 Ultimate cost me $10 and I got a copy of Professional upgrade for $30.

May I ask how. I only reason i'm not running W7 atm is the price and also i don't want to download a copy because downloaded OS are usually buggy and Vista has actually be treating me quite well, not problem with it at all. touch wood.

[QUOTE="stereointegrity"]hahahahahaha good way to pass ur opinion off as anything factual....PC is only used for business people? wtf haha pc bogged down with anti virus? pc users cant find mac equivalent programs?tirralirra

Funny story more people use Microsoft Office, and MS had to go out of there way and make Office Mac compatible because IWork is a joke, and no serious business person would use Iwork for spreadsheets, or basic document use such as Word.

Irony? Mac normally recommended as specialist software PCs. The fact that there is a demand for a better word processor on Macs hints at a lot.

not really im just making a point to RPG explorer's delusional idea that the only reason Windows is dominant because there isnt a mac version. Mac's are not used in any large scale business. I honestly dont think there is a single company on Earth which uses exclusively Macs as there Computer/OS of choice. Im not talking about small businsses, before any idiot tries to jump down my throat.

[QUOTE="kittyloaf69"]But my whole stance on the PC vs Apple issue is this: I used to have a Macbook Pro that I got a couple years ago, but my screen just randomyl died one day, my warranty was up, and apple wanted something ridiculous like $700 to fix it, which i opted not to do because that's BS. I loved my macbook though, especially since I already had a gaming PC. So my final stance is this..if I were to get a laptop, I would get a MAc, if I were to get a Desktop, then it would be a PC.RPG-explorer
Wow that is unfortunate but Apple does offer every Applecare member a chance to renew there plan coverage for another 3 years for like $99.00 when your original plan runs out.

I realize that, I just didn't have $100 to throw towards my laptop at the time, it's too bad Apple left a bad taste in my mouth because I Really loved that laptop. Oh well...

I believe most of Macs OS are built up from the old ones whereas W7 was developed from the ground up. I'm not sure so anyone can correct me on this. oh and W7 beats Snow Leopard so MS wins the OS round this time.

I would like to see an article or link that says that Windows 7 beat Snow Leopard because last i heard Snow Leopard was the most advanced operating system on the planet.

For the price of an apple computer I could build a much better PC.

kolkov01
can you provide an example

Search for the HP m9500t (~$600). It's a fairly old prebuilt PC, but if you upgrade the PSU and graphics card, you would be spending far, FAR less than an Apple PC.

I bet i know one. Apple? ... You're right there, but its not because they don't want to. It's down to price here and compatibility. Large scale companies, means many different workers which means they all have to knwo how to use Macs. Trust me, if companies could, they would use Macs because they are less hassle. But don't quote me on this.

So im guessing that my stand alone Vista cannot be upgraded to W7?

Oh, and at mac fanboy comment about an article.

An article is just another opinion, no different to mine. If you wanted to be objective, you could have said something like evidence from tom's hardware at least.

Wait, hardware...hardware...yeah that place doesn't test software does it?

This is how I see myself getting a Mac one day. As a laptop. Not sure why, I guess it cos i can't build my own laptop and i hate getting rid of pre-installed software on normal laptops. I find most people that have problems with PCs just don't know how to keep their computer running smoothly. THey should teach linux at schools.

I agree. I built my PC as a sophomore in highschool a long time ago, (Im now 21,) and I've been teaching myself all about computers ever since. If people just took the time to learn how computers work they most liekly wouldnt have problems, and then wouldnt get ripped off by takeing a virus ridden PC to geek squad and paying them $100 just to reformat :p

Im gonna go ahead, and not trust you because this question is based on so many hypothetical "what if's" that its not even worth discussing any further. You would have to make Mac's more secure in the office place, blah blah blah just so many things would have to change for your idea to somewhat believable.

You can get it for $30 if you are any kind of student, and they give many people involved in IT or the software industry free or nearly free copies. Mine cost $10 for personal use.

If apple gave companies a 30% mass purchase discount and pcs were each set at retail price... Most companies.. would still use pcs because of cost.

One of the thing that pisses me off is our state is having budget issues and many of the classes at my college had to be dropped because of lack of funding.

Yet one of our computer labs is filled with Imacs... And all I could think to myself was.. no wonder were having budget problems.

Infact i did hear Steve Jobs say those exact words, i know he's the most biased of them all, but after that statement and after Leopard and Snow Leopard were released, a bunch of websites and magazines backed him up.

Yeah i know. But i like hypothesis'. Is there a plural to that word? Ok, so perhaps one day everyone will use Linux?
