Iwata: Not Every 3DS Game Has to be 3D

I can't believe that this news is surprising to some people. Did you really think that all games would be in 3D?

Nintendo would be better off on the vita it has way more potential for games(dual analog,Multitouchscreen and track pad,sixaxis,etc) letting them use there creativity to there fullest as opposed to the 3D effect which doesn't affect game play. Now I'm sure they will still turn out amazing first party games on the 3ds but even Nintendo realizes 3d is not that big a deal for games as far as game play is concerned and you can't deny the vita has more potential in that aspect and no one takes advantages of a systems unique control methods like Nintendo.

wow you and this other guy is really taking this 5% thing to the heart. i stated it was an exaggeration nobody could tell who gets headaches or whatever but it seems only here does that was the point. it could be 10,15 or whatever percentage the fact is that a small number gets these eye strains or whatever

Some Wii games by Nintendo have tacked on motion control, "Nintendo needs to stop using motion control just for the sake of having it!"

Nintendo decides to not use 3D in situations where not needed, "Wow Nintendo, isn't that like the whole point of the system?"

The analog stick is not the same as HD. You cant compare cosmetic differences with elements that actually make thr game better to play. The analog stick is not like HD. Not even close.Again_elation

You're not getting the point. A novelty is not the same as a gimmick.A novelty is something new or unfamiliar.

In that regard all three of them (analog, HD graphics and 3D visuals without glasses) are all novelties or were at one point.

I was also referring to things like the scale of the games. I'm expecting a much larger scale on the 3DS than what was available on DS.

I play handhelds specifically for non-polygonal games, which are generally lacking on other platforms.

Now the 3ds is doing exactly what everyone gave the psp crap for, and all of a sudden its awesomesauce.

Hey, I'm not one of the people who knocked the PSP. It's a great handheld. I just prefer DS over it. (Same with 3DS and Vita.)

You know what, I think the 3d was just a flat out mistake.

If the system had the same capabilities but without 3d, they could have sold it right off the bat at the $170 price point and made a profit.

Don't get me wrong, I love my 3ds. But the 3d is just a useless gimmick.

That's what it is, neat for a very short while and then it just gets old. It wouldn't add anything substantial to the game, it'd just be a bonus. (for some)

For me, when using 3d, I see constant ghosting and get headaches right away.

Because it is capable of 3D. If you go out and buy a 3DTV it doesn't mean that you won't be watching 2D content, in fact that's what you'll be watching most of the time. Manufacturers still use the 3D capability as a main selling feature though.

I don't know what's worse: Sheep continuing to defend, counterclaim and down play the whole 3DS is NOT a gimmick or Iwata's contradicting statements on 3DS (which is heavily heavily marketed as 3DS......clearly visible on the box)

Nintendo saw the hype from Avatar in 3D and looked at all the 3DTV's blahh blahh blahh and thought peole would eat that garbage up. They did but only for about a year and people realized that 3D is a useless gimmick. Now Nintendo has a feature that no one cares about or feels its not worth the money. They need to make people think 3DS is worth it without 3D, which I dont see happening.
