Jaffe Responds to Gamespot's Review

i love jaffe, hahahaha

why are there so many jaffe haters, you think it deservs a 6.7 after everyone else gave it abov an 8

There is almost always a range for reviews. People view games differently, why do people act like this is a new concept? Subjectivity negates the ideology of "well these people gave it around 8 so shouldn't this person too?"

I don't agree with that. Reading some parts of his blogs shows that he's able to admit flaws of the game he made.

Taking a reviewers opinion and fixing a mistake are 2 diffrent things. I agree with gamespot, he should have shot a bit higher in the way of content for that game.

Jaffe nees to just stop talking, no offense but game makers need to make games and thats IT.   So what if his game got ONE bad review? Him complaining about it just highlights his insecurities. There will always be critics and you cant please everyone all the time.

He should take the criticism and then figure out a way to improve himself using those criticisms and feedbacks.

But we need to stop making celebraties out of game makers; it doesnt make any sense. I admire Jaffe as a designer and a creative thinker so im not saying this because i dislike him. Hell, if i could i would totally try to bleed as much knowledge, wisdom and information out of this guy as i could if i were allowed the opportunity to do so; he has much information to share.

But blogs? Naw, not so much.

like I said, he's not special.  when you make a limited $10 game, it will get a similar score to the other $10 games on the market.  just because he made it doesn't mean it should score higher, just because.  GameSpot has been scoring these mini-games like this for a loooong time. 

The game is what it is, accept it Jaffe. It's a second-rate download that isnt worth the money, which can be said for every other PSN Archive title. And we know well that the scores from IGN/1UP were inflated just because it came from no other than the God Of War creator.

Perhaps if you hadnt cancelled Heartland in favor of this second-rate flop and your upcoming flop, the multiplayer-only Warhawk, you wouldnt be this dissapointed in your efforts. But take it for what it's worth, Jaffe.

i dont care what anyone sayis gamespot review of cac was unfair . go read the ign and 1up review . then lis to the one up yours podcast . in each they say the game is on par with geometry wars. they complain about content but last time i checked geometry wars had 1 gun and 1 levelrockstar183

Geometry Wars was universally acclaimed.  This game is not.  it has 2 decent reviews.  2 bad reviews.  Why use Geometry Wars as an example anyway?  how about we use the other 35 XBLA games that scored around the same as CAC and were also entertaining games? :|

Bungie(Halo and ONI), Rare(Bunch of Games) and Lionhead studios("Black and White" and Fable)

Jaffe is not a great developer. Anybody could throw blood and gore into a button masher or make a driving game with silly characters.

Does the psn let you download trials before you buy like live does? if so why get bothered about the review? sony will be promoting his game there, why is he worrying.

i just dont understand why people hate jaffe, his attitude?

i think thats what makes him so awsome, i dont think it was right of him to complain about this review, but he makes a valid point even if it does come out wrong, u cant admit he makes a valid point, it is a DL game, i mean at LEAST a 7 would be nice

When Jaffe throws out a remark it usually makes you think of when movie stars throw out their opinions about politics which makes me want to barf.

I agree with Jaffe about how the Ps3 should not have had Blu-Ray but I still think he is a dork.

Why does it not make any sense? This is like the situation in the movie business, you sometimes watch a great movie and the media/public attention shifts most of its attention toward the actors in it. While the writers and the directors etc. Usually recieve the dumbed down treatment.

This at least is something that does not happen in the video game indistry and if anything, more developer minds out there should recieve more praise imo.

Tho I actually have to disagree and say that if anything the video game industry recieves even less of celebraty treatment, then any other form of media out there. Wich is something that I actually don't dislike about it..... Yeah, I know, kind of contradicted myself, but its just how I feel about it.

Then Jaffe should of made it "online only", what if someone that likes single player games downloads this game?

His analogy of the game being like a fighting game in structure is also flawed.

A fighting game in general has 12 or more characters all of which have many unique moves to learn and counter, therefore while the story/arcade single player mode will only take 10-15 mins to finish it can always remain fresh and varied whilst being replayable. But as I understand it the cars in this only have visual differences? so its the same all the time.

In which case you would expect the environments to throw up that variety and provide the player inventive ways to play, but there are only 4 here so thats sort of lost as well.

He asks what do you expect for $10? well I think because of some quality d/l games we have gotten and some free web based games that are about we expect a heck of alot more than he provided.
