ODST and Halo Wars are spin-offs of the main game. Should I list all the MGS spin-offs and Mario spin-offs? I'll be here all week.[QUOTE="spinecaton"]

None of those games listed above can be found on same console...there is no MGS touch, portable ops or peacewalker on ps3...only MGS4 and MGS Rising. Halo 3, ODST, Reach and Halo Wars can be found on same system and all of them (except Reach) were released within 2 years....and Reach will be released before the 3rd year is complete. also lets just say MGS really is milked...so what? does that change the fact that halo isnt? same goes for mario

Who cares if a series is "milked" or not, the games are good so who cares.
Point is I don't think giving the fans what they are demanding is milkage. I liken milkage to the Police Academy movies. When the games are no longer being asked for my the fans and the quality drops progressively, the franchise is being milked. Game series like Spyro and Crash were milked to me. The Mario games proper, MGS, Halo, etc are all high quality and the fans want them. Therefore I don't consider that milkage in any way shape or form.None of those games listed above can be found on same console...there is no MGS touch, portable ops or peacewalker on ps3...only MGS4 and MGS Rising. Rarely are things as cool or exciting as we're told they're going to be. But I did like all that talk about ,"This is not CGI." Kind of exciting. :Pmusicalmacagreed, that part alone raised my hopes to the sky for this game. almost put it on an Uncharted 2 kinda level is what i thought back to when i read that....
Hype like this only ever leads to people being disappointed. Still, i'm glad to hear it'll all be in-game footage. Bungie have finally learned to only show something off when it's in a finished state, as opposed to a work in progress. Doctor-McNinjaLike the hype ruined Uncharted 2?

Its not milked if people love it and want more. This is the last Halo game for Bungie, people are ****ing excited for it. CoD on the other hand, is milked, because people (at least the majority of them that I know)would wait two years for a new title rather than one if that meant the could see more significant changes. The CoD games are really seeing barely any change from title to title, though I do appreciate some of the minute changes MW2 brought to the table. Halo: Reach is changing up the formula quite a bit though. If its not a rehash and if people demand it, I don't understand how thats milking.[QUOTE="musicalmac"]Rarely are things as cool or exciting as we're told they're going to be. Well, I'm only really excited about that because I've actually read the book about Reach, and I think it would make a great game. To hear it may be pretty, too? Neat. :)

actually its 2 true series sequels, 1 spinoff made by the company that was supposed to be DLC and another that was made by a diff company. still no matter the time frame its no more milkage that said mentioned games....
and BTW the timeframe is exactly 3 years. Halo 3 Sept 07', Halo Reach Sept 10' Every 3 years. EXACTLY the amount of time they take inbetween every new halo game.
Halo C.E. 2001
Halo 2 2004
Halo 3 2007
Halo Reach 2010
I dunno, I can see them starting from the top. If you think about it, that would be a good way to include the obligatory "Look up. Look down. Feel good?" :P
I just want to fight side by side more Spartans. Perhaps the reason they decided to overhaul the engine is so that human character models would look better, simply because they're starting from the top. I dunno, a guy can dream. :P
[QUOTE="RedruM_I"]A huge leap forward in Halo means not much since the other games are basically the same game over and over.clone01yeah, kind of like the GOW series. Hey, GoW sequels add more gore and boobies.

the franchise is being milked just as much, regardless of system. and seriously, if your going to complain about milking how about guitar hero, rock band, mario games? bungie has put out 2 games 2 years apart. thats not exactly milking.Halo... "leap forward"? Not likely. It's success comes from using old ideas well... not making new ones.

At least give Bungie the benefit of the doubt. They have made quality games in the past, and Im sure they would want the last in the Halo fps franchise to go out with a bang.Halo... "leap forward"? Not likely. It's success comes from using old ideas well... not making new ones.

[QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"][QUOTE="clone01"] yeah, kind of like the GOW series.93soccerHey, GoW sequels add more gore and boobies. I seriously hope you were joking with that comment cause thats not exactly a "huge leap forward" In all seriousness, all games do this. And they all claim it's leaps and bounds over the previous games. In the background and coding yes it's better. But the experiences are usually the same. In the example of GOW, I played the demo for part 3 over the weekend and yes there have been several improvements to the fighting and an extra bar for addition powers. But when you get to the meat of it, it's still another hack and slash button mashing 3rd person GOW game. So the same can be said for halo
"At the VGAs, we actually go down on to the Planet Reach and see this game for the first time. It's all going to be in-game stuff. This is not CG. This is not live-action like all the kids on twitter are speculating. You will get a first glimpse at the world of Reach, which is phenomenal. I think it's going to be the biggest game of next year by far. Folks love ODST and though it was great but when people see the huge leap forward Bungie is taking with Reach, I don't know if you seen it yet, but everyone that I talked to that's been on the team and seen it is incredibly excited about that time."
My hype just increased, a lot.

Every game released this year practically - what have they done which is new? Every new major release is just an effort to entertain you and make the game as fun as it can possibly be, which is certainly the remit with Halo. Every time bungie adds anything - forge mode, file share, whatever - the response is also 'x did that five years ago'.
So? Why do we only judge Halo's quality in terms of innovations? How many FPS games are innovative? They're not trying to do anything new. They have a story and they have an art ****and they have an incredibly tight ****of gameplay. What else do they need?

I'm fairly sure bungie haven't said anything about the game whatsoever, other than that it exists. I dont get where the force-fed hype that you're refering to is coming from. :PBlah, blah and more blah! Up to now they have been force feeding us hype. Yes the houlier than thou attitude, the sad thing is that Uncharted 2 is probably the second best looking game out there after Crysis. And yes, im a PC gamer too, the difference is i dont think its blasphemy to appreciate console graphics too.Halo... "leap forward"? Not likely. If you knew the significance behind the subtitle and how it relates to the series, you would see why. Though that last part does take it a bit far. Still I don't see how it's "force-fed" hype.Which was said today, and not by bungie. So again where's the 'up to now they have been force feeding us hype.' :|"You will get a first glimpse at the world of Reach, which is phenomenal. The point is that no game series can be leaps and bounds better than previous games in that serious. If it is it won't be that game anymore or it'll be a different genre. like halo going 3rd person and still being as addicting would be a huge leap for the series. Halo wars was supposed to be a huge leap because it was rts. Please Log In to post.
