I just bought KZ2 today. I honestly think it is amazing in the graphics department. GeoW looks incredible as well, but I believe that KZ really takes the crown in this battle.

An older game that took less time to develop is of course going to look worse than Killzone 2. I actually don't understand the argument.

They both look good, but seriously why does this argument exist?

1) KZ2 came out just 3 months later (you make it look like it came out 2 yrs later)

2) Geow2 had the GAME ENGINE ready when EPIC started work on the actual game, GG had to build the game engine from scratch.. Sum up the time EPIC took to create the game engine + actual game development and you'll see they dont total to 24 months :)

Back on topic, Geow2 is the best looking game on 360 while KZ2 is the best looking game on PS3... difference is KZ2 is the best looking game currently available on consoles !!

as an owner of gears of war, gears of war 2 and killzone 2, I can honestly say Killzone 2 looks quite a bit better....for the simply fact of how much is going on at once. Gears is very barron usually.

So true. All the same though, I think KZ2 is better-looking. Not insanely, leaps-and-bounds, a-whole-gen-apart like some of these folks are claiming, but I definitely think its purtier.

Texture pop-in is one of the most well-known problems with the Unreal Engine. You can get them to look fantastic, but I think that is more up to the artists than to the engine. For example, Stranglehold used the Unreal Engine and looked like utter trash. Uncharted doesn't use the Unreal Engine and the rocks, trees, the porous textures are very similar in quality and appearance to Gears.

I hate the character models in Gears. Every dude in this game makes Barry Bonds look like Pauly Shore. Popeye arms, Astroboy legs, guns bigger than their entire torso, and a little teency tiny little head. :lol: The environments in Gears are just amazing though. Great eye candy.

I have no real desire to play KZ2, though I'd give it a go if I walked into a store and they had a demo machine set up....

that said, KZ2 beats Gears 2 easily in everything except for character models. After watching the comparison vid posted yesterday it was clear, but the character models in KZ2 looked like they had been covered in Vaseline, ie: textures were muddy and lacked detail.

Surely everyone can see how superior Killzone 2's graphics are... Seriously, this shouldn't even be a debate -- both excellent looking games, but Killzone 2 definitely takes the candy. If you want a real debate, you should argue about which game is the better of the two.Stumpt25

Does KZ2 even attempt to do organic matter such as in the conservatory on GeOW? No and why not? Because it's hard too and would cripple the engine so instead you have bland brown game and people are saying oh it looks sooo good. It's just making the most out of the engine.

I've been playing alot of K2 and its a great game, but I do think its graphics are way overreated, it looks good but I do think other games look better

I can't be bothered to play the sp (the story is just bad) the mp is great but I do think the graphics are way way overrated

imo Gears2 bests it in almost every way when it comes to the graphics
