Just a question for Killzone long term fans. I'm getting this game at launch, just because of the visuals, but this is certainly an exception. What distinguishes KZ multiplayer from other popular shooters like CoD, Halo or BF? CoD has a massive amount of mp content and that fast paced gameplay some people seem to love. Halo has it's unique art direction, fun to drive vehicles and verticality. Battlefield has the open world battles with lots of land, air and water combat. Other than the visuals and the fact it's an exclusive, what does Shadow Fall has over those games?
All that motion blur & screen shaking makes me feel physically uncomfortable. Still, I hope the game is better than the three forgettable titles that came before it.Consternated
This game too realistic for you. You need more casual games like COD with no weight and no feeling of killing anyone.
What do you think happens in real life when explosions are going off and bullets are hitting you? Your body wont stay still LOL
Anywayz Shadow Fall destroy Crysis 3 multiplayer, not just in graphics but gameplay too.

.. I seriously don't understand this graphic worship.. All these games look terrific GRAPHICALLY.. Yet many games are showing to be carbon copies of their over used predecessors of last gen.. FPS's are the biggest culprits of this.. Take the new Killzone singleplayer.. It looks exactly like the same military esque shooter we have been playing for 8 years now..Going down cramped environments while they throw insane amounts of guys at you with roller coaster ride cinematic sequences that the player has no control of, chalked in between them. Something is wrong with the fps genre when I am getting more enjoyment now from games like Doom modded with Brutal Doom than these games.. Hell why am I surprised with incredibly average fps's like Bioshock Infinite getting rave reviews.. sSubZerOo
Â
When you make comment like this it show how little you have seen of Killzone SF,one of the biggest difference in the game is how open the game is compare to Killzone 2 and 3,please go read every damn preview abous this game and see the videos and tell me again this game is like the past 2,in fact they even drop the whole gridy dark colors, the game is way colorful now with open spaces, hell many journalist have even call it open world..

It is really difficult to say, we are getting a new Killzone in a new generation with a new controller.Â
Â
Kz2 stood out because it carries weighty almost laggy control with great focus on hip fire for close to mid range firefights and ADS for long distance
The idea is to feel like you are using a real gun, something with a kick (high recoil) and weight to it, as opposed to COD where you are basically a floating gun.
Also you have Warzone, its a game mode that mixes up various objectives as part of the MP match

To be honest though, I am still waiting to see what happens, they have yet to show more than TDM
Meh, I prefer arena shooters. I'm always up for a game of Unreal Tournament, if you can leave behind your slow paced gameplay and aim assist :) I'm not saying that's not what happens in real life... I'm just saying it makes me feel ill. I'm not the only person who gets motion sickness from copious amounts of motion blur & screen shake. Just because you don't, it doesn't mean it's not a problem. Crysis 3 has better graphics. Gameplay, meh, they're both bound to be indifferent. I don't rate either franchise.Consternated

Old as it may be, it's still one of the most skillful games on the market :) CS is over a decade old, and still more popular online than Killzone 2 & 3. Anyway, why are you talking about realism for? Aren't we still fighting the Hellghast on the moon? :D[QUOTE="Consternated"]

Doom still takes a shit on Killzone, COD and Battlefield. And it's old as hell.

And worse the graphics are sad,pop in every where,no animation or physics crappy textures, this game is uninpressive in even single way.

Yeah, it's hard not to laugh at the industries fascination with Titanfall. Such a new, original experience... Assault Rifles, Shotguns, & Pistols. How refreshing (not that SF is much different).Yeah it looks really really pretty but it's also overdone a bit. I don't need a million particles and flashy lights blocking my view and distracting me all over the place when I'm just trying to aim and shoot guys. Even the muzzle flash on some guns obstructs your view a bit too much when firing.
Also the lens flares are more obnoxious than BF3. You have Helghast with blinding lens flares just on their visors alone. It's ridiculous
Overall it's a very pretty game but keep that over the top crap for Single Player. Unless your base gunplay is poor and you're using pretty things to distract people

I think a lot of what made KZ stand out before MP wise is being whittled away.
I mean there isn't even repairing turrets or ammo boxes around the place anymore. They got rid of repairing completely and support guys can throw ammo to other people just like in BF.Â
The weighty shooting was something I didn't like too much but I can understand the appeal and it made sense in KZ2 cos you shot across longer maps. The stuff in this KZ footage is all really close range and a few medium range engagaments. The recoil will hardly make a difference (even though there's no recoil in the footage anyway)
I think SF is trying to hard to be other modern shooters gameplay wise instead of setting itself apart

People like Titanfall because apparently it's extremely fun to play. You can't tell that just by watching videos but every journalist that's played it has said it's just non stop fun. It may not have any new or original ideas at face value but it IS trying something new for the Multiplayer scene and the agmeplay it will offer stands out more than some of the other shooters coming
I used to call it "CoD with Mechs" but the more gameplay I see the more I'm liking it. It does look really fun and if you could put down that fanboy mentality you would see that too
[QUOTE="Sagemode87"]To be fair, the franchise isn't that good. It's mediocre at best.Lmao @ Lems trying to sh1t on KZ as a franchise. The last 2 games got aaa and aa here. It's a viable franchise. Deal with it.Â

Battlefield does all of that and it's going to do it better with destruction, larger player counts, larger maps and vehicles.

Thanks guys.
Yep. I liked KZ2 for it's weighty feeling, slow paced gameplay and the partially destructable environments! I didn't play KZ3 multiplayer, but i have been hearing that it lost those particularities, and tried to approach too much to the CoD experience! Then again, Shadow Fall seems to bring back that good old weighty feeling from KZ2, but the environments seem to static (i havent seen any kind of destructibility). No verticality (jetpacks?), the mechs from KZ3 are gone, and seem to be just a linear infantry vs infantry game with very beautiful visuals and particle effects.
Maybe GG is still hiding some info. We will see.
I love how many blind haters this game attracts. I hope GameSpot doesn't change the forums up before Shadow Fall gets reviewed; if it gets AAA, I am going to be sure to come back here for a good laugh.

Why does it have to be new and groundbreaking? Can't it just be judged on actual merit; i.e. that it's a really entertaining game to play? You know, kind of fulfilling the role that video games predominantly exist for?
And lol @ moaing about lack of creativity when you're stood in a Killzone thread.
I can't breath...You've seen the 6min gameplay, you've seen the screenshots, so you must have seen Killzone Shadowfall's MP by now;). Let's be frank here, the lighting, realtime reflections, particles, paticle lighting, explosions, motion blur, high quality models, texures and parralax occlusion maps, are without equal in the MP portion. All running at 1080p/60fps. Crysis 3 mp is a joke next to it, BF4 does some things better such as destruction, more players and bigger map but at the same time lacks the sheer quantity of effects, high res textures, reflections and high poly models of KZ. So in a pure graphics perspective KZSF looks the best at least in the mutiplayer portion. We'll come back for the single player when the game releases but for now Shadowfall mp has killZOWNED the competition once again.

It really doesn't.
I'm not particularly mad about Killzone games at all, but I find it pretty incredible what a small team from the Netherlands can squeeze out of static hardware.
ShadowFall looks great, and it's a launch title.
My bad, apparently GG aren't a small team at all :P
My thoughts exactly. They have an opportunity right hereI'm happy Shadow Fall is getting attention. I hope GG capitalizes on this by making a game that has lasting appeal. It's the only next gen exclusive shooter coming out this year. This is a pretty big opportunity for them and the KZ franchise.
TREAL_Since
It's called camera based and object based motion blur, expensive techniques to make it feel more cinematic and fluent. They just have the extra power to spend on those effects, not the opposite. It's crazy everybody says high textures and particle effects but they are doing the same thing again blurring the hell out of everything same techniques as last gen.
Tighaman
Right of the bat when you play KZ:SF you'll notice the different feel, kind of like BF where there's a weight to controlling your character. They won't just roller skate around like COD, so in that sense its less n00b friendly. You have to plan ahead so to speak, burst fire etc. This gif is incredible!!!

As far as the gameplay, KZ does have vehicles and completely customizable online game modes, different set of weapons, Very unique game modes online, and a different approach to your classes and so on. I hesitate to go into detail because I'm not entirely sure the direction KZ:SF is taking, but trust me its a game you can own along side with BF4 for example and not feel you're playing the same game over and over.

The footage is a kill montage, it doesnt really show the nuansces of the game of which I am sure there will be many, especially with the server rooms back, if there are people taking the piss with certain weapons or perks you can just remove them.
there were always bound to be changes, as good as KZ2 was the world has moved and it would be wholly unreasonable to expect GG to just release a re-skinned version of KZ2 with prettier graphics.
Â
On top of that you have the exposure of being a launch title, Sony wants the Killzone brand to be up there with the BFs and Cods and the Halos, now is their best opportunity, they have consumer enthusiams of a new gen, they are projecting excellent sales with Killzone bundles pre-orders dwarfing all others, Xbone included.Â
Â
Kz2 was only really apreciated by a niche internet audience and the community showed that, I think from a commercial aspect, they will look to aim for a bit more of a casual audience as they would probably never get a better chance.

Last time I played Crysis 3 it looked amazing but was boring as fvck to play.
The thing I disliked most was the removal of static ammo boxes. I liked the dynamic it brought to the table, snipers couldn't camp forever cos they had to refill ammo and really great players had to take a break if they ran out too to go find the nearest ammo resupply. Now it's all done on the move and Snipers can camp all day if someone puts an ammo box next to them

I've watched the 900MB video and they're right. It is over blurry at times but that's a staple of a Killzone game. GG use far too much motion blur and other blurry effects to make the image blend together a bit better and hide some of the uglier aspects so they dont' clash against others.
It's not AS blurry as others are saying but it's still there. It's like a fuzzy look to the visuals
Killzone is and forever will be a game that gets bragged about for teh graphics more than it's ever actually played. Ninja-Hippo
Killzone 2 got competitive MP of the year here in 2009.

Because if you call something new or innovative damn it has to be,the game is COD with mech and jetpacks,is clear this game was done to ryde on COD multiplayer popularity is from the same damn creators.
The is funny because Killzone 2 multiplayer was by far and away one of the most difficult to pick games,it had a steep learning curve,it wasn't COD in any way shape or form,it was clear that the multiplayer wasn't aiming to be another COD.

While I havent read up too much on developments, Killzone has never been a slacker in the gameplay department so I dont expect them to throw away all that they have built over the past decade.Â

The 900mb video is a smash cut of kills, every single kill is just a 2 second snipet leading up to it, thats why I adopted a 'wait and see' approach for some real Warzone gameplay.
