I don't think adding kinect going to change the cost of the console very much. Also with those saying that it's mandatory, it's not mandatory that they use it. It's just part of the system if they want to use it. The Wii-U has a built in camera does not make it mandatory that all games use it. Personally the only reason I will pick up the new Xbox is if Kinect has been improved on. I want more interactive games. HarlockJC

There's no way both the Kinect requirement and the quoted specs are true. If they want a SKU below $400, it's one or the other.

I haven't seen anything on that, but that would be some weirdness.

Like scanning the retina? That would bring security to a new level.

The Kinect can already recognize your face and connect it with an account. It just sucks at it, judging from Quick Looks.

You mean Move? Maybe they will improve on that. That's an add-on anyways, it won't be mandatory with every PS4. Kinect is more than just a camera, and the new xbox has built in hardware ment for Kinect. But I'm wondering if lems are alright with mandatory installs now??Martin_G_N

If it's nothing but Kinect when this all goes down, I'm guessing there won't be many lemmings for cows to do anything with.

I don't think Microsoft is stupid enough to force a Kinect on everyone, maybe I'll end up eating those words but there seems to be plenty of reasons NOT to have a Kinect with every console, unless they've improve it dramatically, make it smaller, more responsive and a lot cheaper to produce. The biggest of course being that plenty of people have odd set ups, I have a desk with a TV on it and sit right in front of it like a computer, which basically means that using the current Kinect it would see my face and nothing else. Plenty of people sit on their bed to play Xbox, sit cross legged, maybe some people swing from the ceiling like Tarzan, who knows, but the point is unless it's improved it's basically going to be an expensive webcam and microphone for a lot of people. Maybe that's just what MS wants though if it's going to monitor you (creepy) 24/7.

But as long as the price is right though does any of that really matter? Most games will barely use it just like the "Kinect enabled" games do now.
