But as long as the price is right though does any of that really matter? Most games will barely use it just like the "Kinect enabled" games do now.Â

The problem is that to make the price right, they have to gimp the specs to some degree.

the only think Kinect has over Eyetoy is the body tracking and nothing more. Eyetoy already had voice recognition, head-tracking, hand tracking and stuff. Kinect is not TEH INNOVATION many people think it is.  And the way I see it it's obvious you have no idea about the functionalities of the Eyetoy either. Kinect is nothing more than Eyetoy 2.0.
I've finally got my PS4 hype in check, and i've also not got Durango out for the count anymore.
I hope Ps4 is everything it will be, but you just never know.Â

playstation has always had an eyetoy, it was never a means of control for every game like MS wants to introduce.

I read a rumor that talked about how the eyetoy may be used to sign into your account on the PS4 or something like that to recognize who the person right next to it is. It may reach kinect 2 creepy according ot what I heard;
I haven't seen anything on that, but that would be some weirdness.
Like scanning the retina? That would bring security to a new level.
It was this rumor

"Our source even claims to have played some Durango games, describing the graphical leap from current-gen console gaming like going from playing Halo 2 on an original Xbox to playing Crysis on a powerful PC." Yea I'm sorry that source is about as reliable as a tub of yogurt left to sit out in the sun all day ...blue_hazy_basic
That is expected though if you consider how FF15 Agnes looks like, the difference is indeed that big
[QUOTE="tormentos"]""delta3074Very ineresting article, don't like the part about Kinect watching me all the time though, better not be watching me whilst the console is OFF,lol
Wait, you're actually considering the possibility that negative XBox info could be true? Â Who are you and what did you do with the real Delta?Â
Hermits need to recognise that current gen console games can still compete in the same ballpark as their best (Uncharted 3 etc) So obviously new consoles with much better hardware (maybe not top-of-the-line, but much better than current consoles) will output games better looking than any PC game. PC will catch up in no time obviously. Once devs put the effort into console games, its not so hard making the PC counterpart that bit more pretty. After all, gaming revolves around consoles. Hermits gonna herm.RR360DD
So, you're saying that PC games remain stationary, and continue to stagnate with console graphics? That they don't push higher resolutions/higher AA/ higher AF/ higher texture resolutions/ better lighting/better particle effects/ etc? It's kinda sad to hear that PC's rely so heavily on console developers to push their games...
Well, some people would definitely be sad to hear about that...

Uncharted 3 looks like sh!t. Bad example.
The best PC games now have - 4x the textures, 1080p and higher, any kind and amount of AA you want, max AF, 4x the polygon counts, Full HD effects, 60fps, FAR less LOD pop in, fully dynamic lighting and effects... the list goes on and on and on. Witcher 2 running perfectly on PC already RAAAPES the best console games. And now we have Crysis 3 coming up.

Yeah, pretty much. Don't try and tell me PC isn't capable of much better than you are getting today. You guys basically getting console grade games, but with higher textures, more AA etc etc.
It WON'T be a coincidence that once these new consoles come out, the PC suddenly starts getting much better looking games.

I wouldn't know, is it? Games like Hawken showcasing new particle effects. Or something like the Oculus Rift allowing for unprecedented control. Or games like Total War: Rome 2 pushing insane graphics  and  units.
How about ARMA II? Is that coming to consoles? Star Citizen? More and more games utilizing DX11 features, whilst consoles do not? How about the fact that could have been completely overlooked in PhysX, is being added to a  multitude  of games... Many of the features, are not included on  any other platform.
What about Unreal Engine 4 exclusives that are in production? Fortnite and Daylight.
Seriously, dude, come on. Your argument is botched from the get-go.

Amazing, Â never thought I'd say this, Â but, I agree with you. Herms make it seem like PC games are a gen ahead when most of them are upgraded console games. Gaming graphics never move far from console standards.Â

GCN @ 384 stream processors is about 1.5X to 2X over VLIW5 based Radeon HD @ 480 stream processors e.g. better branch, better scalar handling and 'etc' .
On GpGPU, GCN @ 384 stream processors can be 7X over VLIW5 based Radeon HD @ 480 stream processors.

These rumors make me wonder how the Wii U even retails for $350.
If the final specs for both the PS4 and Xbox 8 are anything like the rumors say then what justification does Nintendo have to charge so much when the two other consoles are targetting the same price point with much better specs?
I think a lot of people are wondering that. Hence the reason the Wii U isn't selling too well. And I think their problems will get a lot worse when the new systems launch. But what it really comes down to is MS and Sony are much bigger companies than Nintendo. They can afford to take losses on hardware that Nintendo can't.These rumors make me wonder how the Wii U even retails for $350.

Looking at AMD's site it seems like PS4's GPU is pretty similar to a 7970M (The M is important as their desktop GPUs are much more powerful than the mobile ones), just slightly weaker. Meanwhile the next Xbox's looks more like a 7870M but a little better. Basically subtract 2 compute units from the 7970M and you've got the PS4 GPU. Meanwhile add 2 compute units to the 7870M and you've got the Nextbox GPU. Not sure how it will translate to the screen but seems like a fairly large difference on paper.Wickerman777
From http://www.vgleaks.com/world-exclusive-orbis-unveiled/
There are no known GCN with 32 double precision floating point(64bit) ALUs per CU.
AMD Tahiti's CU has 64 single precision(32bit) ALUs and effectively has 16 ALU double precision/64bit per CU i.e. ratio of 4:1.
Even with 18 CUs, PS4's double precision/64bit compute is pretty strong i.e. rivals 7950 BE.
7970M has 64 single precision/32bit ALUs and effectively has 4 ALU double precision/64bit per CU i.e. ratio of 16:1. http://www.amd.com/us/products/notebook/graphics/7000m/7900m/Pages/radeon-7900m-series.aspx#/2
For 64bit compute, it looks like Sony is attempting to avoid another repeat of gimped 32bit compute with NVIDIA RSX.

"I could go on for pages listing the types of things the spu's are used for to make up for the machines aging gpu, which may be 7 series NVidia but that's basically a tweaked 6 series NVidia for the most part. But I'll just type a few off the top of my head:"

10) Half floats
You can use full floats just fine on the 360 gpu. On the PS3 gpu they cause performance slowdowns. If you really need/have to use shaders with many full floats then you will want to move such functionality over to the spu's.
"Half floats" refers to 16bit floating point.
PS; NVIDIA's GK110 is the Geforce SKU with practical double precision(64bit) compute performance i.e. similar levels as with Radeon HD 7970 Ghz Edition.

The Kinect does a lot more than people give it credit for. You can see this in it's uses outside of gaming. The eyetoy did a lot of what the Kinect can do, but it not nearly as close, the Kinect focus more on body heat. I used both and you can really tell the differences when you play the dancing games. If Ms and Sony have both improved on this we are going to see some really cool uses this gen.[QUOTE="Rockman999"]Remember about screen controller which decently is not cheap as regular one Meh, after the GC Nintendo has become all about overpriced gimmicks when it comes to hardware. The Wii was a gimmick and a half and I thought it would fail spectacularly. But I was wrong. It turned out to be one of those once in a lifetime miracles that can't be explained. But I don't believe they'll be able to achieve that kind of luck two times in a row.
