The same spot because most people dont upgrade that often...I go to lans once a month pretty large ones 150 people and up and most the people have old gpu's like nvid 400 series and 6000 series amd.

I don't see the point of this. Also, That's system RAM. You do know that does not include the VRAM in video cards, right?Â
Good size of RAM for gaming starts at 6GB, not 8. Besides you didn´t provide any link to the source. How do we know you are not inventing your stats.
Higher than 8GB is not needed, I'm one of the 21.80%.
If I remember correctly, my PC barely used over half of my memory in games.
PS4 is using a single pool of 8GB GDDR5 of memory (weird, I know), and I think that's for the whole system including the OS and games, so it's not 8GB solely for games since some of the GBs will be used for the OS and background processes.
What's vital for PC gaming is the GPU memory, not RAM. Mine is 2GB GDDR5.

ps4 cpu and gpu have to share from that 8gb lol. pc with 4gb ddr3 main and 6gb gddr5 7970 own ps4 lollow memory can cause the game to pause to load during gameplay  but once it's loaded up it runs fine.
developers wont even allow games to be like that on console.

Ya every PC gamer has a 7970.......lol surreeeee. Anyway once consloe guys can play at 1080 it wont matter because thats really the big diff right now between console and pc.....You can not tell me that when you max a game then draw back some of the features most the time you cant tell a diff. But once you change res thats when you can really start seeing quality diffrences.

ps4 gddr5 > PC
Cause there's no need now for more then 4gb I upgraded to 12gb from 3gb to be ready for future games but even stuff like crysis 3 on high 1080p or battlefield 3 on ultra only uses around 1.3gb of ram when I checked. My ram usage went up a bit over 4gb when playing them but its due to windows and other application using more since I have so much extra ram now. Before it would be allocate as much ram as possible to the game and it would take a bit for my pc to get full responsiveness back as it relocates the ram back to everything else for normal desktop use. I also have 3gb of dedicated vram now vs the 1gb I had before not sure how much is being used there. But ram isn't very expensive now and when there is a need for more in games more pc gamers will upgrade.

Don't worry mate, you've got a long time until it's released. So I advise you to brush up on your technical literacy and keep an ear out on current updates in the PC world. You'll have a better understanding of what you're in for when the PS4 is released.Sounds like you have no idea what you're doing then. All you need is 4gigs for high end gaming, anymore is pretty much useless atm.I've had 24 gigs for a while now and I'm not even a hermit.

you dont need the required memory like a console. developer just take something completely out if it studders on console because full memory.Â
pc you can still run it but with studdering.

You seem to like memory allot lol
1. It's optional (which is a good thing, you can get as much RAM as you need).
2. RAM isn't everything.
3. 4gb is enough to play a lot of games on max given that you've got a good GPU/CPU set up.trugs26
Exactly why tessellation wouldn't work on a next gen console.
No ram is what you hypocrites had been complaining for years the PS3 lacks, now all of the sudden the PS4 has more ram than $1000 dollars GPU on PC and ram is suddenly crap, and ram suddenly mean sh**.. What will happen when in 3 years the next Skyrim game ask for 4 to 5GB of ram,and you find your self with a 7970 that only has 3 GB.? You have a GPU that can still run it,but the ram will hit the performance badly. I already prove how on Skyrim 1GB of ram less on 2 different 7850 actually deliver a bigger blow to performance, than the hit the 7850 get for been under power vs card like the 7970.. Skyrim 1920x1200. 7850 1GB 50FPS. 7850 2GB 83FPS. Difference 33FPS more on the 2GB version of the same card. BF3 2560x1600 ultra quality FXAA high 7850 32FPS 7970 53FPS Difference between a 7850 and a stronger GPU 21 FPS.. Is not about today is about 3 or 4 years from now.Lol, RAM is the new cell. And like this gen, it'll turn out to mean exactly jack $hit in the end.

The GPU VRAM isn't shared to the OS, Except for the Aero which is just a minute amount and it doesn't affect the rest VRAM in any way.Yea, I don't throw money down the toilet and upgrade everything every 18 months to keep up-to-date. I only upgrade once a gen. (I don't actually upgrade, just get a new computer)
It's not like devs target non-existent hardware, so why bother 'til the next gen is up and running?

Funny, whenever people are building rigs (that are not obsessive overclockers) nobody says that the quality of the ram and the quanitity of the GDDR memory on a graphic card matters *unless* you are going far beyond resolutions of 1080p. So why is it different now cows? 2 of the least potent aspects of computer hardware have been pumped up to ridiculous ammounts. The GPU VRAM isn't shared to the OS, Except for the Aero which is just a minute amount and it doesn't affect the rest VRAM in any way.[QUOTE="faizan_faizan"][QUOTE="KiZZo1"]

You still aren't understanding it, 8GB RAM will be used IN A LOT OF THINGS, And the most common thing is running the game itself, Graphics come after it.Well, that is unexpected... I expected more VRAM than 1GB from PC gamers. :?
GeForce-
Well, you can transfer to GPU memory from RAM. But ... then you'll have doubling of the data in both memories, which is why just adding both memories does not properly represent the RAM storage capacity. And also why PS3 256 MB + 256 MB is inferior to 360's 512 MB.
Although, there are non-PC gamers using Steam solely for messaging. freedomfreak is one of them. I think that kind of messed up the statistics.
