Stop comparing DDR3 with GDDR5.Â
No PC gaming rig has 8GB's of GDDR5. Â SLI/Crossfire setups don't take advantage of both GPU's ram count. If you have two 4GB GPU's in SLI you are still stuck with 4GB's of VRAM.Â
Now, the PS4 has 8GB's of unified GDDR5 ram, so it is shared with the CPU/GPU/OS. Though the OS will likely only take 1GB max. Âemgesp
Gfx would be same whether it had 4GB or 8GB, the GPU core clock, # of shader proc, and memory speed mean more than amount of RAM. The extra RAM was added for non-gaming purposes, the same reason MS has 8GB in X3.
SLI/Xfire setups have massive amounts of shader processors and 384-bit GDDR5 RAM. PS4 can still be crushed with 2yr-old PC hardware.
