Truth hurts doesn't it. You asshats all claim to have these $2000 rigs that run every game on maxed out settings and then you all add your dad's man juice to run it is Go Go Gadget mode. Every Hermit I have ever met ends up with rig hardly better than my Alienware laptop. Never fails.timbers_WSU

My system is 100% real.

Come at me BRO!

Oh, look I own these meh systems too.

I wonder what those percentages would be if you added video ram too? Since PCs have both DDR3 system RAM and GDDR5 for Video Memory and that list only counts system memory. Either way 1-124 GB of ram ( more if you include video memory ) on the PC is available now, the PS4 is not, and by the time it is available, the PS4 will be even more out dated by PCs.

So if only one percent of PC gamers have such systems, are they really a legitimate standard against which to compare consoles?

Their GDDR5 will reduce workload from the CPU. That's how amazing that GDDR5 is

A measly 30% of hermits have 8+ GB RAM, but all of a sudden they act as if it's nothing?

63824568.jpg

EXPOSED !

KiZZo1

I think this once again exposes the contradictory nature of the hardcore PS gamers. They never seem to understand that they are NOT the majority of any "group". Most people don't care about PCs as much as them or even know as much as them. Most people don't enjoy thinking about hardware or maximizing settings, etc.

The reality is that most people have PCs in their home but they are primarily used for e-mail, internet and basic word processing. So when PC users try to use PC sales and pervasiveness to brag about their supriority, they are already missing the point. Which explains to me why they are so confused that console gaming gets so much attention. They don't get that people will buy a PC for countless reasons, many of which have nothing to do with games. But when people buy a console, you know they will be using it for playing games (majority of the time - case could be made for BR/netflix when PS3 launched as it was half the price of other BR players at the time).

I can't speak for Crysis 3 but for Crysis 2 and Crysis 1.. Not much..  The higher the settings you go isn't a drain on the ram.. Its a drain on the video card and their memory..   And I wouldn't think Crysis 3 to change that much, I think something like Total War Shogun 2 uses way more ram..

trolling because:
  • you pretend that the ps4 have 8Gb dedicate to the GPU, the truth is that it is going to use 5-4Gb max for vram purposes
  • you make it sound like a $1000(titan) is inferior to the ps4
  • you ignore that the HD7970/6GB(much cheaper than titan) exist and also offer same vram as titan
  • you ignore that the HD7970/6GB have more Vram than ps4 gpu, you ignore that it have almost 2 times faster vram than ps4 gpu.
  • you try to pass, that you get more performance by doubling that vram instead of doubling that processing power with cheap tricks

There is nothing more to argue with you, simply because you are trolling.

MK-Professor
No i am not pretending that and if that is what you got please read again, there is a 7970 with 6GB but the majority are 3GB,which was my point of reference,i was simply showing how ram cam impact card even when using the same GPU,on normal games it will be no difference but on certain games it will, like on Skyrim case, and there is a ton of people i dare say the huge majority out there that had cards with 3GB or less, the 4Gb memory and 6GB memory set ups out there are a minority a huge one by the way. So even when you have a great GPU that can pull hes weight, having less ram than optimal for some games can kill its performance,in the post before this one that i linked,is pretty easy to see, when the resolution was 1600x1050 the 2 card performed the same when the resolution was raise to 1920x1200 the performance dropped hugely.

If you play on single monitor and not go higher than 1600p through custom res it'll work.

However I used 3360x2100 for that and I bet multi-monitors are even worse of course.

There is a bigger difference from 1600x1050 to 1920x1080,than from 1920x1200 to 1920x1080...You are talking about miserable 120 lines,by the way the PS4 can push that another things is that is targeting it,the 7850 can do that resolution just fine, the PS4 GPU is a tap better so i am sure if the PS4 was able to connect to a monitor it would display that.. Hell the 7850 can display 2560x1600 which way higher than 1920x1200.. Also saying Killzone 4 was only able to do 1080p at 30FPS is a joke,Killzone 4 is a launch game, unfinish that wasn't even running on final kits, but is developer are targeting that maybe the is a problem more on screen at once.

Seems pretty inconclusive to me. So for a single open world console port game out of those tested, at a resolution ABOVE what next gen consoles will run at, 2GB cards did better than 1GB cards. My point still for the majority stands, that unless stupidly high resolution, extra video memory does almost nothing. And I can bet if you did the same test between a 2GB card and a 3GB card, there would be 0 difference even in Skyrim at 1200p

It can, but depending on the game the framerate might not be so good for graphically demanding games, and I wonder how next gen games will do on that...

[QUOTE="tormentos"]Hell the 7850 can display 2560x1600 which way higher than 1920x1200..mitu123

BF3 on Ultra FXAA on high 2560x1600 32FPS.. Not bad the PS4 should be able to beat that easy.

It's great both systems have a lot of RAM, but what really matters is the amount of shader processors. PS4 is about a 7850. From what I could see on steam survey ~25% have cards equal or greater than a 7850, so PS4 will be a competitive system with the average rig for at least 2yrs.

Largely, that's how it was with 360 until 2007 when Crysis dropped and consoles never matched it. Even next-gen consoles might have trouble running it maxed with an array of mods on.

The PS4 has like 1152SP the 7850 1024 SP i think not sure don't remember well the numbers. Is a little better than the 7850,not only that if you take into account that the PS4 is not targeting anything higher than 1080p,it should keep the PS4 at least 3 year at least close to PC.

Why are you using a game from pre-PS4? What about the games on made for PS4 that push the system to it's limits? I don't see a PS4 game reaching 1600p unless it's not pushing the system, not to mention the VRAM usage will be a lot worse.

BTW I'm sure that benchmark is for single player because I own the game, put over 60 hours into it and knows that the multiplayer is more demanding so it'll certainly struggle with multiplayer with 64 players. Heck single player uses less VRAM as well.

It's also probably using GCN 2.0 and HSA, so it's got that avantage. Plenty of RAM too. PC hardware moves fast, though. 2yrs. from when the next-gen HD Twins drop there will be hardware and games that push it right back to the Crysis levels of 2007. Happens every cycle.

Last cycle was more comparable to high-end PC than this gen. PS4 is less of a jump compared to 360.

Stop comparing DDR3 with GDDR5.

No PC gaming rig has 8GB's of GDDR5.  SLI/Crossfire setups don't take advantage of both GPU's ram count. If you have two 4GB GPU's in SLI you are still stuck with 4GB's of VRAM.

Now, the PS4 has 8GB's of unified GDDR5 ram, so it is shared with the CPU/GPU/OS. Though the OS will likely only take 1GB max, so you will have 7GB's of GDDR5 dedicated to game development. Also, PC games right now are not made with 7GB's of GDDR5 ram in mind.

You won't have 7gb of video ram usable. Still need some to act as "normal" ram

Here's the thing... SLI and CF use that RAM to run 2 GPUs at 1 time and they both render their on part of the image. So to say that you get no benefit out of that VRAM is wrong.

That's like saying you only really need 2GB VRAM to run 2 GTX 680's. Which is false.
