Come on, its probably the scariest game this gen...I dare to say its the scariest game ever made...incredible atmosphere and extremely inmerssive...the game was so inmessive I actually screamed when I got hit because I could imagine the creature doing the same to me...it was like a chill in my spine, it was extremely tense...running away from a monster, knocking things as you run hoping its not close from catching you...

theres this part in special...at the dungeon, where you are just walking around a hallway with a door on your left, and at the end of the hallway you see the monster passing from right to left, but he doesnt see you...so your heart stops...you carefully open the door next to you, hoping it wont listen and then close the door on your way in...when you turn around, bam the monster is there! that part scared the living crap out of me.

I have to say, I rarely get scared while playing...everytime someone tells me "theres this super scary game!" I just go "bleh...its definitly not scary" and I thought the same about amnesia...until I played that thing! truely the best survival horror experience in videogames

Amnesia: helping gamers to man up!!

I installed the game to a friend, and at the first part of the game, where the wind closes a door behind you, the guy just jumped out of his chair and almost smashed his keyboard and just went shouting "THIS IS TOO MUCH FOR ME OK MAN THIS IS WAY TOO MUCH!!"

Just depends on the person. Games don't scare me very often, but Silent Hill 3 was one of the big exceptions. Masterpiece :D

I want to buy it but I don't want to have frights. I had so many problems passing Doom 3 and as far as I have heard it isn't scary at all. Imagine Amnesia, I would waste my money because I couldn't play it.

Only reason why I'd find L4D2 scarier is because during co-op, I tend to pay less attention to the game because of silly friends, so I'm always caught off guard, but single player? Nah, not in the slightest.

Aw hell naw. SH2 had the superior story. but SH3 was better in just about every other aspect. It was Team Silent's swan song (not that crappy SH4)

In my opinion... that is correct. :P :D

I haven't had to take breaks from it or jumped or screamed, but it's extremely intense. Once when
I heard a monster slamming on the door and the game told me to hide
it gave me a huge rush. But if I died I'd just spawn again... Amazing atmosphere.

Yea, I mean I played the SH games when I was 10-13 years old and they did not scare me at all. I go and play AMnesia when I am 21 and it makes me so damn nervous and uneasy when I play.

its from the same guys. I remember the last night I played amnesia (I finished the game that night) it was 11:30 PM with all lights out, playing with earphones and my parents were not home, me and my brother were home alone and he was in another room. So I was at this part where you have to pass through a huge room filled with green fog...everything was cool...until I heard a monster nearby...growling...at that point my heart almost stopped...and I just advanced extremely slow and then I ran the hell away because I was scared ********* the monster didnt got me btw :P

Amnesia was the first game that has scared me in a long time...since some parts of Eternal Darkness. That is the goal though of playing a game like that, so I always played it at night in complete darkness...scary s#@&

You must have only played 1 if you were playing 8 years ago, which isn't nearly as scary as 2 or 3. Silent Hill 1's not bad at all.

is not cheap at all...its great because the developers manage to read what your reaction will be when you see the monster...I take for granted you havent played amnesia or have not even seen it...if thats the case you cant discuss about this game...not until you try it and realize there is nothing cheap about the scares in amnesia...that part which I described there specially blows up your guts

I'm not calling every scare in amnesia "cheap" im calling this particular one cheap, you probably didn't played lots of horror games because this whole "turn around, something pop in your face to surprise you" have been done oftentimes. Don't get me wrong i saw a gameplay video on youtube uploaded by the game company themselve and i won't deny, the game is extremely atmospheric from what i've witnessed.

Of course the experience varies from players to players, to me this particular moment you had was just a cheap attempt at "scaring" the player.

Ill try it. Very few games give me any sort of chills, there was maybe one spot in Dead Space, and one or so creepy spots in Undying, and when I was a kid 7th Guest was eerie. But the massive amounts of horror games available, there really isnt a lot of good ones. So, i'll try this and see how it does.

I have actually played quite a few "horror" games I call them "horror" because I rarely gets scared...that particular scare in amnesia is not a cheap one because..,you see the monster walking at the far end of the hallway, and from what it looks like ,the monster doesnt see you...you wont get this if you dont play the game but everytime you have a monster nearby your heart just stops...and in this part, the monsters runs from side to side really fast so you can actually only see a blurry figure running...so you open the door at your left, its a cell door (the doors in amnesia are opened 100% manually...you may leave a door half open or at any angle you want) and you enter the cell, the cell only has 1 way to enter and thats the door you just used, so when you enter the cell its completly empty and you say "phew..." and close the door...when you look back, the monster somehow got inside the cell and now you are trapped in a room with the monster...you get extremely tense and your heart pumps really fast...seriously you wont understand if you dont play the game
