It would be worth it if Microsoft hosted dedicated servers for all multiplayer games on Xbox... but they don't.
If you have 3 people playing MW2 on the 3 different platforms (PC/PS3/360), they all access multiplayer the same way which is P2P through IWnet. The only difference there is that one of them is paying $60USD a year just for the ability to do so.
It doesn't matter if you got it for cheap, the point is you're paying Microsoft to let you play games over your internet. And as far as I can see the only thing people defend it with is the rubbish voice chat.

how is the voice chat rubbish? it lets you chat with groups of friends in different games or just with the people in the game. How is that rubbish?
Also its more than voice chat. Think of the friends notifications, that pop when someone comes online. the ability to view the gamer card (instantly) of any player you've met / played against online. the option to mute / block this person / avoid in future.
Plus you can instantly check your achievements / games played against anyone in your match or anyone who you recently played with. send a Friend request and send instant party invites to people in your match.
Because the sound quality is awful? When me and my friends used to play on Xbox we ended up downloading skype on our phones to talk to each other. The fact that you're paying for it means it should be good, not the bare minimum.
