I never hear people complaining about the WoW fee which is practically the same and even worse. XBL is just hated on because PSN is free. LustForSoulWoW actually provides tons of content between expansions. XBL meanwhile does nothing worth justifying a price. That said, why are you comparing WoW to XBL? You're grasping.
....really? Comparing WoW to XBL? lol For one WoW is actually played on blizzard servers not hosted by other gamers and they also release of ton of new content and updates all the time so its ever expanding even without expansion packs.

Aren't we going off the point here?[QUOTE="Jynxzor"] Your "Superior" services head of security left his password out in the open and had his account broken into... Just be glad he didn't use his first name as the password to the computers. I gotta lulz at people thinking your subscription fees go towards anything other than feeding MS profits, they are secure because they have a massive legacy of software engineering "Although arguably Windows is one of the least secure operating systems around".Mystery_Writercould u link to that plz?
First was Major Nelson last year
Lately it was Xbox division head of security Stephon Toulsen
So yeah it seems Microsoft employees might worry about not keeping there passwords as there dogs name or something easily guessed with there facebook information.
If your a gamer and you complain about playing $60 a year then you need to find a new job or switch to PSN.

So its a waste of money if I want to play with my friends?Walk into gamestop (biggest chain of video games stores in US) Yeah how much is Xbox live gold for 1 year.? $60 ok. Walk into Walmart the same $60. Kmart and Sears the same $60. The walk in stores were people buy most of their stuff is always $60 dollars, you have to face it XBL is as expensive as MS claim it is $60.Realistically obviously PSN being free is the better deal... I play both PSN and XBL alot... Both great services and I'm not here to argue features... But every thread or comment is "XBL is $60 a year"
XBL has literally a deal every week for XBL... With huge discounts.. I just Golded my second account $10 for 3 months... Ive seen a year offered through XBL itself for as cheap as $35... And amazon they can be had for $40 or less....
I buy a bottle of water everyday and get back a quarter. I pay for my live with my change. For how great the service is we can all agree its worth $40.

So its a waste of money if I want to play with my friends? Sure it is when the rest of the world plays for Free and you don't.Fixed that for ya I never used my CC on PSN. So I'm safe. However, compare Live to Steam. Steam is a better service and it's absolutely free.[QUOTE="DragonfireXZ95"]It still costs money when it shouldn't cost anything. So Xbox Live doesn't shut down and comprimise very personal user info and payment information and such.AugustusGraham

how is the voice chat rubbish? it lets you chat with groups of friends in different games or just with the people in the game. How is that rubbish?
Also its more than voice chat. Think of the friends notifications, that pop when someone comes online. the ability to view the gamer card (instantly) of any player you've met / played against online. the option to mute / block this person / avoid in future.
Plus you can instantly check your achievements / games played against anyone in your match or anyone who you recently played with. send a Friend request and send instant party invites to people in your match.

Because the sound quality is awful? When me and my friends used to play on Xbox we ended up downloading skype on our phones to talk to each other. The fact that you're paying for it means it should be good, not the bare minimum.
seems fine to me! The voice chat on the 360 really is rubbish. Everyone sounds like they are talking through a tin can filled with static. Going from Steam voice chat to 360 voice chat is like night and day. What? PSN...PS+?[QUOTE="DarthJohnova"][QUOTE="WardCleaver02"]
Do people really believe that playing online on other platforms is actually free? At least with Xbox live I have a choice: if I don't want to utilize the service, I do not have to pay for it.
WardCleaver02
No not, PS+, "vanilla" PSN. Do people really think that Sony is providing the services on the PSN for "free"? Or, to put it another way, does maintaining the PSN cost Sony nothing?
What are you on about? I have a choice, just like you, whether to subscribe or not to PS+, I don't because I can do what your silver subscription does not; play online. These days, I could make a analogy for XBL as car insurance - PSN drivers been on the road saving money since they opted to not buy insurance and had been pretty good lucky but just like driving a car, one day it's ....
Boom, Losing Doh' :P
Anyway, I agree with the TC, XBL fees are no biggie for this gamer. 8)

Seriously, what are you even going on about? Obviously PSN costs Sony money to maintain it. PSN doesn't cost people money to play it, AKA it's free. What an odd argument. I have a choice whether or not to use the PSN, yet still don't have to pay.
It costs money.. so no its not.. but nice try.. i already pay for my internet to get online and enjoy.. why do i need to pay on top of my internet to Ms just to play online on their network? gtfo
:P
You need to pay to ensure your credit card information isn't kept in plain text files. This has been proven false. Try again. Of course it's technically cheap, but come on....You're paying for something that's already on the disc that MS had nothing to do with. Yet they collect money for it. Ridiculous. So you're saying that I have saved over $300 and in turn I can't sign on PSN for a little over a week so far? Seems like a good trade lol. These days, I could make a analogy for XBL as car insurance - PSN drivers been on the road saving money since they opted to not buy insurance and had been pretty good lucky but just like driving a car, one day it's ....

What are you even trying to get at?Sigh...Look at what you typed: "Obviously PSN costs Sony money to maintain it. PSN doesn't cost people money to play it..." Really?! Sony takes a loss on providing the service?! If Sony told you that the Blu-Ray player in the PS3 was included for free, would you also believe them? You are paying for the PSN, whether you utlitize the service or not. The price of the service is obviously part of the price of the PS3.
To say that the PSN service is "free" because it is not a seperate line item when you purchase the system is, to put it politely,naïve.
