I guess 2

very closely followed by 3

followed by 1

I didn't really enjoy Brotherhood or Revelations much.

it's a shame they had to add the stupid modern day storyline, which amounted to nothing basically- they could have spent all that time and effort on the historical parts.

Brotherhood. Assassin's Creed 2 was great as well but I prefer the more focused setting of Brotherhood.

Exactly. If they choose to focus on the history of Assassins that would be great but they invented their own stupid alien story.

i think AC2 made the biggest improvements from it's previous iteration than any of the other main titles. I also like the variety in the different cities (rather than brotherhood which all happened in Rome if i recall correctly) and in general i think it was just a more well crafted game. I felt like the genuinely took the time to listen to the fans and make a sequel that improves on the flaws of the original while adding more features and content, and making a story line that was very interesting. Since then they've been releasing it yearly and it's only felt like incremental upgrades and has gotten increasingly bland (i haven't played AC3 yet though).

I skipped revelations. I havent' finished a single AC game, but I got closest to finishing Brotherhood. Overall I'd say:

Brotherhood. It was a lot of fun, they added a lot of new gameplay features and expanded in a lot of logical ways. The multiplayer was pretty big too. I'd say it's followed by the original, but I know a lot of people don't like it. I also really enjoyed Assassin' Creed II. I didn't like Revelations and I'm having a lot of trouble motivating myself to play III.

Haven't played 3 yet,, but the first one sucked ass and completely turned me off to the series. Lucky for the series, my youngest daughter did like the 1st one. So she wanted the Ezio Trilogy last Christmas, so I got it and am glad she wanted it. I loved all three that comes in the trilogy, but I liked Brotherhood the most, then Revelations, then 2. But again, I liked all three.

Brotherhood was the best in my opinion. 2 is not very far behind. The added features is what put brotherhood over the top for me. But overall the series has fell back a bit due to rushing an annual release. They really need to take a creative break if they want to save this series at all, but then again they are already coming out with this year, so that kind of puts a cog in that. The annual releases is what is killing it and they need to really stop, because they are killing one of my favorite franchises this gen. :(

I voted for Ass Creed 2 because of the big changes between it and Ass Creed 1. AC1 is so bad it's not even funny. But personally i liked Brotherhood the most.

AC2.  Brotherhood and Revelations were great, but didn't push the franchise forward like AC2 did.  AC3 was just terrible.

No, 3 is easily the worst game in the series. Awful story, bad mission design, the frontier is too big and filled with a whole lot of nothing, it has too many systems that aren't explained well and the cities are boring and not fun to explore. The game just felt lazy and rushed, definitely one of the most disappointing game from last year for me.

Damn. I've only played ACI so far..and I have yet to finish it. I don't think that I'll ever will..game got boring pretty fast.

At the time I played each one of those, I EASILY enjoyed AC2 the most. It was such a massive improvement over the first. Everything up to revelations was just an improved version of AC2 and pretty much the same game/different map/story. AC3 went full on Hollywood and was just not worthy of the title 3.

It's not even close, 2 was far and away the best AC.

AC2 is one of my favorite games this gen. Blew my expectations.  All the others were good, but nowhere near 2. Revelations was a DLC that was sold as a full retail game and AC3 had way too many cutscenes.

I have no issues agreeing with Shake when he's right. I wouldn't say RE4 is a bad game just to disagree with him, for instance.

And I agree with :the poster formerly known as foxhound_fox" all the time, yo. He is a bro of the highest order.

So... yes, I do.

I like Assassin's Creed II the most. The locations and building architecture were good. I also liked being able to renovate a city and own a manor. The outfit customization was good and the sneaking aspect is still used in this game. Assassin's Creed III does not seem to need sneaking as much as that should be a major part of the game. Assassin's are infamously known as incognito agents so that takes away from the game.

i agree, but that game felt so repetitive and tedious. If they had a bit more variety in the missions, or at least scripted them to play out differently each time so they didn't feel like the same thing it would've been way better. I also felt like the story was slow to really proceed at times.

I personally prefer AC2, but i do agree that the first one that they really did try to make it so that you were playing the role of an assassin.

I played the first one for about an hour. It was bad. I actually beat the second one to see if I was missing anything. Nope, just a bunch of over-hype because PC gamers don't have any better games to play. It was so repetitive. The fetch-quest at the end was an artificial way to lengthen the game. The combat is pretty much built on counterattacking. The story seemed to have Ezio listen to freaking anyone. You think having his father and brother executed at the age of 17 because of a betrayal would affect his psych a bit and would make him develop trust issues... Nope.

He is correct though. Each of the gameplay pillars (stealth, combat, parkour) have been improved upon in meaningful ways. They are still not that great, but they are def better than they have been. Sadly it's hidden behind the atrocious mission design :(.

See, i love the first 4 AC games, but, i cant even begin to tell you of all the times i was running the rooftops and then randomly ran up a chimney or an invisible wall, or i was running along some wooden beams and then tried to jump to the next one and then shot off in the opposite direction, or was climbing up a wall and tried to do a climb-jump but ended up ejecting off the whole damn building and falling to my death........ stuff like that :P In AC3, I never had any of that happen. i felt more in control. when i wanted to jump somewhere, thats where i landed every time. i do agree though, mission design was piss poor.
