The way I look at it, having 800,000-1,000,000 people online at a time is more than enough. Next week, Reach will be #1 no question about it. At least there are more than the 7,000 playing Killzone 2.

List is false. There's no way H3 is above Reach. There's around 200k people playing H3. On the night of Reach's launch, there was 750K online at once. And I've never seen COD playing above 250K eitherBodyElite
Impossible dude even MW2 for PS3 get more than 400,000 players in fact doring peak hours is 500,000 or close and i have see it get up to 510,000+,yesterday i was playing on PSN and MW2 had like 400,000 players, considering the 360 version has been on the top of xbox live for almost a year now and seeing that the community of xbox live mostly play shooters and given the fact that MW2 sold on xbox 360 almost double of what MW2 sold on PS3 i dare say that doring peak hours MW2 on 360 should be getting no less than 1 million players or at leas 900,000 for sure.
Maybe Reach accounted for just 2 days or so of the week.

Dude even having 7,000 people is more than enough, you can't actually play with 6,000 people at once so having 1 million or 7000 is the same you can't polay with that much people online period, the biggest game on console is mag and is 256 players at once not 7,000.
Also what does Killzone 2 has to do with the xbox 360 top 20.?
Reach multiplayer can be incredibly aggravating to a lot of players who have been playing MW 2 for the past year, seriously, it's like going from kindergarten straight to senior year of highschool. so they go back to MW2, that's my theory.
Dead-Memories
No actually i find it bland and unrewarding, playing 4 vs 4 on huge maps equal total failure, you spend more time seeking people that actually killing and since there is always your average camper, getting into the open to seek people prove to be fatal,i play the skull games and was fun for a little while.
I like Firefight the most and is what i play the most contanly now, what i can say how ever is that it has been solid now, pauses doring game for host changing has been almost non existent, alto i have experience some lag in Firefight it has been minimal and rare,if MW2 ran this way it would be thegreatest.
So is this trying to prove Reach is a failure?
It sold 3 million units in a day :|

Well i can't tell you what the point of the thread was since i did not made it,but from what i see it was to illustrate that Halo is not as strong online as it use to be,or at least there is one game stronger already.

In terms of popularity? Sure but was that even a question anymore. Call of Duty has become the go to FPS for the mass audience. In terms of quality? Well that's arguable, but personally TF2 is the only shooter this gen worth mentioning over Reach.Bringing a game's online community to it's peak population takes time. I don't know about last year, but on 2008 COD4 was allot more weeks on the top spot by Major Nelson own site, yet at the end of the year they claim Halo 3 was the most played game online lol..
In fact you can find this data on the net basically week by week,COD4 was on top of Halo 3 i dare say 8 months out of the 12,with 1 month going in favor of GTA 4 and the other 3 probably Halo 3,this data was posted by Major Nelson it self.

i couldn't care less if you own reach or not: i was referring to your point of peak hours vs. a 24-hour period. using only peak or down hours by themselves will not provide an accurate representation of what's really happening. and since modern warfare 2 does not provide the numbers that bungie.net does, you have absolutely no way to prove anything you've said.[QUOTE="Eltormo"][QUOTE="jg4xchamp"] In terms of popularity? MW2 on 360 has 100,000 on live can you actually back that up.? Not that i am saying that you are lying,is beause that would mean that MW2 PS3 >>>>>> MW2 360 since the PS3 never get number as low as 100,000 the lowest i have see is like 150,000 and most of the time is over 200,000 player with peak of almost half a million and sometimes more.
Bombs? When the community is still larger then most PS3 games 2 years from now you will eat your words.

Halo 3 is second on that list and it has about half the features. Reach will be strong just as long as Halo 3 probably longer. Last time I played WaW on my 360 I had trouble finding a game. CoD games die as soon as a new one is released a year later.

Dude WAW is higher in the top 20 than COD4 is and i own COD4 for 360,and i never had a problem finding a macth, and COD4 get like 20,000 players online most of the time i check.
And what you claim of COD dieing is even more wrong, look at the top 4 games on live top 20,before reach it was,MW2,Halo,COD WAW,COD4. now add Reach and those are the top 5 3 COD games and 2 Halos.
You do know that's before the game was even offically released? Wait for next week and youll see what happens.

But people here have short term memory problems.
So how many players did Halo Reach got on the first day.? and how many played games.?
By the way here is something funny i found, while MS on Halo 3 release on 2007 with allot less xbox 360 hardware sold since it was 2007,they were fast to claim it was the biggest 24 sale in US bla bla,but for Halo Reach they combined US sales with EU sales to made the claim that Halo Reach sold $200 million on sales, those who remember Halo 3 did 170 millions in US alone so 30 more million including EU on a much bigger user base than the one the xbox 360 had 3 years ago, look kind of small to what it should be now with a much bigger user base.
http://www.kotaku.com.au/2010/09/halo-reachs-first-day-of-sales-hits-us200m/
MS did not came clean on the matter if Halo Reach actually outsold Halo 3 in US alone, but if those mix number are anything to go by it look like Halo Reach did not surpassed Halo 3 sales in US even on a much bigger user base than Halo 3 had on 2007 which could mean that the series is actually loosing its power to atrack its fallowers,or they loose them to MW and COD games.

Halo 3 + ODST = 346,667
Reach = 6,490,057(about what's listed in the Reach games played above)

H3 + ODST + Reach = 2,373,226
Halo 3 + ODST = 219,007

Also why would i weep.?
MW2 is almost a 1 year old game, for sure Halo Reach will beat it,but to see how strong it really is we most wait until COD black ops release to see if it can actually hold its place.
