Oh my lord LMAO! And people have the audacity to tell me this isn't a gimmick.

What did you want them to do with it? It doesn't break the experience. You don't really have time during Mario Kart to take your eye off the screen. And you can also play on the controller by itself.Shottayouth13-
I want them to do something meaningful with the tablet controls. It was the reason the console was priced so highly.
[QUOTE="soulitane"]Not every game asks for something important to be done with the controller, just like how the xbox one games didn't all focus on kinect (thankfully).GD1551
There's no game that does anything important with teh controller. It's the Wii mote all over again.
Then why are you focusing on a single game which seems unlikely to have very good integration with the tablet anyway? Seems quite inane, though I didn't exactly expect much more.[QUOTE="soulitane"]Not every game asks for something important to be done with the controller, just like how the xbox one games didn't all focus on kinect (thankfully).GD1551

You mean like how SO many games on the DS (and 3DS) used the 2nd Touch Screen?

You can play Mario Kart while on you're on the toilet, there you go. It's a racing game. Unless you can control each eye individually then I don't see how doing anything else with the controller would work. And plus, this is only one game. There are others that make better use of it.[QUOTE="charizard1605"]So what exactly were you expecting?PhazonBlazer
Free beer.
For GD1551, a Nintendo system could give him free blowjobs and pay Him a million bucks every week just to turn it on, and he'd find a reason to criticize it and spin it into something bad.lmao @ the reactions
Nothing is finalized yet. They have talked about having a Mario Kart 7 style real time mini map.
Btw, innovation simply means "a feature I like", therefore I have stopped talking about this term anymore. Similarly, the word gimmick means "a feature I dislike."
So what exactly were you expecting?charizard1605
What I was going to say.
Would you rather they shoehorn important features onto the tablet just for the sake of it? Of course not every game is going to benefit from tablet functionality.
You might as well b*tch about games that relegate insignificant features to L3/R3
A post you made a few minutes earlier: [QUOTE="SuperFlakeman"] Games like Super Meat Boy are innovative, fresh and push the boundaries of what you can do with gameplay in a platformer, despite the fact that it could technically been made on a 90s PC, given the small scope and 2D sprite graphics.lmao @ the reactions

For games like Mario Kart that were designed primarily for console games, the second screen is just that - secondary to the gaming experience. There's not much it can be used for. Most of the time for racing, adventure, and RPG games it's just a map. To make full use of it, the game needs to be built ground up with the feature in mind.
I'd imagine that would give some people an advantage over others, if you're playing split screen then chances are only one person is going to be using the tablet controller which would be an advantage for them. Please tell me why it isn't a back mirror or a map...

Can you point out the contradiction?
Your point is to see games that can't be made unless you increase the horsepower of the hardware.
I'm saying you don't need every game to strive for that kind of progression. A game can achieve innovation without requiring beast hardware. In fact most fresh new ideas are found in the indie scene.
SpaceChem is a sandbox-puzzle game that is doing things I've never seen before. My microwave can run that game.
[QUOTE="KungfuKitten"]charizard1605That circuit looks so nice... Yes the lighting and stuff is done well. Nintendo art + cool lighting looks great.

It is both simultaneously in Mario Kart 7.
It's a real time map where you can see the position of every player including yourself. You can also see what item someone has in their possession, so if someone is behind you with a green shell, you can actually see the player icon trying to align itself with you to hit you, and that way you can react and move out of the line.
This feature is really amazing. It adds so much more depth.
You people are actually dumb enough to expect something like a minimap to be shown on the tablet screen? How awkward would that be, having to actually move your eyes away from the TV just to check the position of other racers? A horn is perfect because it doesn't distract you from what's happening on the TV, since your eyes need to be focused on what's happening on-screen for the duration of the race. A minimap on the tablet would be such a crappy idea.

A tablet controller is also a horrible idea....

Don't think anyone is arguing that it isn't a bad idea. Remote play is pretty cool though. You people are actually dumb enough to expect something like a minimap to be shown on the tablet screen? Squid Ink.
Look at map.

For them to prove the functionality of a tablet controller maybe?

I think most of Nintendos own games should use it just to prove it.

It has potential functionality in certain games, but games like Mario Kart and Smash Bros. aren't among them.[QUOTE="HalcyonScarlet"][QUOTE="princeofshapeir"] Is it a requirement now that every game make significant use of the tablet controller?
