People seem to forget the whole point of the WiiU.

Here let me show you.

Playing Console games, while watching TV.

LegatoSkyheart

That's probably the most useless feature the tablet has. I want the screen to enhance gameplay like it does on the DS.I don't want to play my console games on a tiny sub-hd screen.

LOL.

"enhance."

Oh I can touch the screen instead of the "A" button to choose a move in Pokemon!

Oh cool I can touch the screen instead of pressing start at the start screen!

I can't Hadouken so I have to press the touch screen to do it for me.

Enhancements.

Maybe you should just play better games.

It is pretty sad that one of nintendo's games uses the tablet so terribly.

I agree. Hopefully there are other options, and that screen is only there if you want to use the gyroscope to steer or something. A rearview mirror displaying on the screen would be the best use, imo. It would make it a whole lot easier to drop bananas on people and shoot shells back at them.

Professor Layton? Where you had to write in some answers?

I remember playing a lot of DS games and not having to use the Touch Screen once.

[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"][QUOTE="The_Power_of_X"]Seems ridiculous to include a feature that is responsible for a large part of the system's cost only to have it go largely underutilized.

The_Power_of_X

seems ridiculous to want to use something just because it's there, even at the cost of the quality of the game. the tablet, like the buttons, is a tool the developers CAN (not 'have to') use on their games. you know what's worse than not using a feature of a controller? pointless, tacked on use of the feature (like oh so many wii games and PS3 games)

Then why force the consumer to pay a premium for a core feature that will go mostly unused? You know what's worse than a pointless, tacked on use of the feature? Being forced to pay for that pointless and tacked on feature that will barely get used. I don't understand why Nintendo designs it's systems around a certain feature only to have it go to waste. It is like Microsoft designing a system geared around online play only to support it with a plethora of single player games while releasing one or two multiplayer games every couple of years. :|

That sounds like Kinect more than the Wii U tablet.

You wouldn't have gotten very far in either of the Legend of Zelda games, then. Also, going back and playing any GBA or even PSP JRPG is just painful after playing them on the 3DS. The second screen for the inventory and spells allowing you to switch gear, heal, etc. at the touch of a button is just way too convenient.

For the Option to play your games while watching TV or let someone use your TV so you could play a game on your console.

Also this makes the WiiU very portable, great device for on the road gaming.

(but that's what your handhelds are for.)

Well a 3DS certainly won't have Assassin's Creed IV, Batman Arkham Origins, or Watch Dogs now huh?

Don't you have to be near your console for the streaming to work? I've never attempted to just take the controller on the road, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way.

The Zelda games forced you to play with the Stylus. It was awful.

and apparently it's a hassle to press y to bring up the menu and look for an item.

Being able to play a shitty game, while watching a shitty anime isn't appealing? No wonder this thing isn't selling. Perhaps I should hook up my PS3 and Play the Last of Us while I play some movie on Netflix on the WiiU.

Or Perhaps I should watch Game of Thrones while playing a WiiU game.

Perhaps I decide to bring my WiiU to a house and there are no TVs available. I can still play my game, just give me a plug.

It's a great feature that the WiiU can only say to have out of the Box, unless PS4 comes with a Vita Bundle.

I agree that it would have been better if the combat wasn't stylus-oriented, but I really liked having the ability to make notes on the map, and I also liked the stylus-oriented puzzles. And yes, bringing up a menu to look for an item is a huge pain in the ass when you get used to not having to do that.

No, he paid $350 for Nintendo games, third party exclusives and the OPTION to play off tv and a free game and to use his already owned Wii motes and nunchucks. What is your problem? He is happy with his purchase so let him be happy. Does everyone need to buy a PS4 and a PSvita to get the same features? $400 ps4 + $250 psvita + $60 game = $700.00 + PS3 controllers dont work with the PS4 so that is possibly $50 + $50 + $50 + $60 for online play?for a grand total of $920.  So let him enjoy paying $350 for what he wants and will enjoy.

PS Not every game needs to use the touch screen. Nintendo is shit if they tack on touch screen feature on every game and Nintendo is shit for not tacking it on every game. There is no winning. So dumb.

Yeah, he's an idiot. You can't take the console "on the road" unless you have a wall jack you can plug it into. I suppose a converter for your car adapter might work... MIGHT work.

Then again, are we talking about some 15 year old kid who is going on vacation with his/her parents? Or a grown person who probably wouldn't be worrying about dragging the Wii U along on a trip like that?

People have no idea what I mean when I say "Portable".

Ain't saying I can just take the WiiU Pad and walk along the street and play the WiiU like nobody's business, I would have to have like some battery on my back and the WiiU hooked up to it for me to do that.

I'm saying I could take it to someone's house with just the console, controller, and power supply. That's it. I could go anywhere that there is a plug and play the system. The other systems? I gotta have a TV.

[QUOTE="Chris_Williams"]where did the vita come from? he said the main reason people should buy it was to use this feature, the ps4 and vita combo isn't the main reason you buy it but just a little added bonus. I wasn't attacking your boyfriend so calm the F downLegatoSkyheart

The only way the PS4 can even have the same feature the WiiU has is if you already own a Vita.

well good thing i have my own personal tv and don't share it and if i wanna watch something i'm not going to wanna play videogames while doing it. So if a videogames is your arguement then having a feature on a touch screen doesnt make a videogame a videogame. The game is going to be fun with out a special touch screen feature as many people that actually played it including myself experienced, so what is your point in making this thread?

[QUOTE="Chris_Williams"] so you payed 350 just to play your games on a smaller screen? Chris_Williams

$400 ps4 + $250 psvita + $60 game = $700.00 + PS3 controllers dont work with the PS4 so that is possibly $50 + $50 + $50 for a grand total of $860.  So let him enjoy paying $350 for what he wants and will enjoy.

PS Not every game needs to use the touch screen. Nintendo is shit if they tack on touch screen feature on every game and Nintendo is shit for not tacking it on every game. There is no winning. So dumb.

where did the vita come from? he said the main reason people should buy it was to use this feature, the ps4 and vita combo isn't the main reason you buy it but just a little added bonus. I wasn't attacking your boyfriend so calm the F down

I wouldn't include the cost of the Vita. That's just ridiculous. The PS4 is still ungodly expensive in comparison to the Wii U, though, if you want it to be fully functional. $400 for the console + ~$50 for a second controller + $300 to play your console online for 6 years = $750. The Wii U is just $300 for the console + $50 for an external hard drive. Wii Remotes are about $35, but if you had a Wii, you already have those covered.

I saw pictures of people playing it on the Train without a TV.

I like that if I go somewhere might purchase an adapter so I could plug it into the cigerette lighter and just play off-TV.

[QUOTE="DragonfireXZ95"][QUOTE="PurpleMan5000"]Don't you have to be near your console for the streaming to work? I've never attempted to just take the controller on the road, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way.LegatoSkyheart

Yeah, he's an idiot. You can't take the console "on the road" unless you have a wall jack you can plug it into. I suppose a converter for your car adapter might work... MIGHT work.

apparently none of you guys have traveled with a Console before.

yeah you'll need somethings, but it's completely possible to play Console games in your Car. or even have a battery. Not talking just WiiU, but any console, but WiiU takes one step away, you wouldn't need to buy that "TV Screen" for your Car.

Completely possible? By hooking it up to your cigarette lighter with a converter, right? That's the only thing I can think of. I've taken my PS3 on vacation before, but I was ever only able to use it in the hotel room, not in the damn car.

How do you play your console in the car? Enlighten us and elaborate on the bold part.

I only included the vita to match the features of the what the guy liked about the Wii U which is off tv play but I did forget the hard drive which is like $70 for a 500 gb hard drive.

You could either use a gas or battery-powered generator or the cigarette lighter with an adapter.

It was just an example. I didn't want to go looking for another. Honestly was surprised to see the first link on Google would bring up a Wii one, I expected a PS2 cord to be honest.

I would go with something like this if I wanted to hook up a console in my car.

http://www.amazon.com/BESTEK-inverter-adapter-charger-notebook/dp/B003Q54V88/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1371482483&sr=8-6&keywords=cigarette+lighter+adapter

We used to have a van with a tv and an NES hooked up to it. They were both powered through cigarette lighters.

In fact there were other posts other than mine showing how you could easily play a WiiU in your car.

No, yours didn't. You can't play the Wii in the car without a screen, so unless you have an 80,000 dollar Escalade or something, good luck with that.. I could see the Wii U, but not the Wii. Yours was just a failed google attempt with no real back up to prove anything.

Yeah whatever man. The proof is there you just don't want to see it. I wasn't looking for an actual cord for the Wii, and you know I was talking about the WiiU and not the Wii.
