Because making a game look better on top of the line hardware takes lots of skill :|
If the PS3 version doesnt hold a candle to KZ3 they are going to look like a joke.

making the best looking game for 3 years in a row takes some serious skill. ;)
You do realize, that crytek has to code for many, many different pc setups and 2 consoles? how could anyone expect them to make a better looking console multiplat, than a game like killzone 3. which is being made for ONE set of hardware, and is backed by a large amount of funding by sony, plus, the developers already have a wealth of experience with the ps3's hardware. (Not to mention guerilla games has some extremely talented coders in their own right) and using a custom engine specifically designed for the ps3.
Yes and no, it shows the serious lack of skill by other pc devsor there lack ofconfidence in creating a game for the pc specifically for high end hardware. ( as many devs dont want to spend the money on a game that will only run on a high endpc.
Second of all Crytek made the claim that it would be the premier shooter on any platform and yes they were talking about visuals. Dont make the claim if you cant back it up. Hell it doesnt need to look better then KZ3 but the PS3 version of Crysis 2 better look as least as good as the 360 version.
I agree that that was just pr talk.
It's not that crytek isn't optimising for these consoles compared to other pc developers, it's just that these consoles are almost archaic compared to high end pc's of today. They aren't going to limit the pc version just because the consoles can't keep up with the cryengine, that'd be silly. All things considered, Crytek is achieving alot from the console versions given the hardware they have to work with, and many different set ups to code. AND it being their first console game this gen.
