I dunno, the endings are WAY better, but still not quite what I'd hoped for the extended cut. Still alot better than nothing.

Ok I just watched it.

It was a solid epilouge. But my question is. Why dafaq didn't bioware just throw this in there to begin with.

I mean it's nice that it ties a lot of the stuff up. But one question still lingers. WHY DID DA JOKAH RUN AWAY?

These new endings didn't seem to be worth the wait, IMO.

To me it kinda looks like he jumped in a relay and the beam behind him is travelling between them. As for why he runs, now hes given an order and they are trying to put distance between themselves and the crucible, not quite sure what its going to do.

Here they are:

Destroy ending:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=iv&v=GgYYYmzr7_A&annotation_id=annotation_935634&src_vid=m5J-QDTM8Zk

Synthesis Ending:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_593141&v=CFzrRz6Dc0Y&src_vid=GgYYYmzr7_A

Control Ending:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=iv&src_vid=CFzrRz6Dc0Y&v=m5J-QDTM8Zk&annotation_id=annotation_392962

New Refusal Ending:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PThzItSAT5c&feature=related

I personally think they did a great job patching things up. I dont think there are any legitmate reasons to complain anymore. Any future complaints would be a little ridiculous.

The refusal ending is new & exactly what i expect from it. This is why i thought it was always ridiculous for people to complain that Sheperd should refuse the Catlysts options. If Sheperd refuesed..... only one thing could happen. What happens if Sheperd refuses? Watch to find out.

So watcha guys think of the new endings?

I actually like the refusal ending, except maybe Liara's disapproving tone of saying "we did everything right", really?

The refusal ending is what I like to call "The **** you ending" since it is essentialy a GIANT middle finger to the fans (Disagree with Starbrat, everyone dies, artistic integrity man!)

.
No, it's not.
.
People complain about the lack of logic in ME3's ending, but when there is logic, you come and say it's a middle finger to fans? It's being said time, after time, after time, the reaper CANNOT be defeated... and every single thing in ME3 proved that.
.
So, it's more than obvious that when you don't use the crucible, everybody dies. The reapers win. And it couldn't be any different.

Exactly. Bioware should be commended for this.

This is not a middle finger, in fact its exactly what the fans had been begging for. People were claiming the real Sheperd would refuse the Godchilds options, & so Bioware gave them the option they wanted.... the option of refusing to save the galaxy

What did these fools think was going to happen if you refused those options? LOL

The fans got what they wanted..... the most illogical ending, but they were the ones saying this is what Sheperd would do. Funny how they didnt see the consequences of those actions & now they're mad at this ending & Bioware for doing nothing wrong, other than giving them what fans had wanted.

I still remember the vids with theories that all the 3 options (back then) were just a trap by the Reapers, that it was all just a lie, a part of Shepard's indocrination and that the real ending would be him refusing all of said 3 options and waking up back on Earth to save the day  Guess Shepard isn't as powerful as some fans thought he might be :P

Anyone curious to see if fans will still complain and b!tch about these new endings?

Desmonic

LOLO very true. In their eyes Sheperd in invincible & should be able to take on every Reaper with no consequences or casualties to any planets, or civilizations. Its just ridiculous what they demand from a piece of science fiction.

Anyways i think they addressed nearly all criticims & delivered very well done endings here. However all i see is more hate for the new endings so i dont think it changes anything.

I think the only real issues I would have with them is how did they how did they know how to repair the citadel and how are they rebuilding the relays? As far as I can tell the only people who figured out how to make a relay were the protheans and that was a small one and most of the important functions of the citadel were maintained by the keepers so they really couldn't have any knowledge on how to fix those (this is really for the destroy ending anyway).

The protheans didn't make the relays or the citadel, they found them, they were created by the reapers. My guess is necessity is the mother of all invention. (plus the relays aren't destroyed any more)

I know the protheans found them but remember they also made one in ME 1 as a backdoor into the citadel.. although it was one way.

On the destroy extended ending
I don't think it was in the original destroy ending but there is a sound in the background of the destroy ending when shepard is laying down, ether sounds like a reaper or someone drilling possibly trying to get to him?
On the control extended ending
Reaper shepard sounds dope, kind of like borg shepard
Yes, yes it is.

.

Becaus ethere is no logic, Starbrat logic is "Create Synthetics to kill organics so synthetics don't kill organics". The "Refuse" option was only there because Bioware was butthurt of all the vids of people shooting the startbrat, so they added in an auto-lose if you shoot him. Period, end of story. The games endings sucked, it's still a turd. A polished turd but a turd.

.

Bioware made the ending so if you refuse starbrats logic you CANNOT win. Even the effect of turning people into synthetics is beyond stupid as that's what Saren wanted, and Control is what TIM wanted. So Bioware just made Sheperd eevn more pointless.

I really like control, it kinda made Shepard like a god in the series.

When I first started the extended cut, I got to the point where you can control Shepard and I playfully shot at the little kid. All of a sudden the kid says "So Be It!" and I ended accidentaly getting the refusal ending

As I said in another thread on the subject...

I was prepared to be underwhelmed and Bioware exceeded my expectations. The endings are still underwhelming but at least now I have closure. At least now the plot holes are (mostly) filled and I know what the hell happened to the universe after the big decision. And that f**k you ending is dark as hell but I'm so glad it's in there because that was one of the endings I'd always accepted as a possibilty given the insurmountable odds and should've been there from the start. The series constantly hammered in the point that losing was always a distinct possibility and actually seeing it, phew.

The rejection ending is not Bioware's middle finger to its fans, if anything, this is the best choice they could've added since it acknowlwedges the fact that the Reapers are an almost unstoppable force and if you don't use the weapon that was created for the sole purpose of stopping them, you will lose. That just makes sense in the context of the series and the fact that it's triggered by shooting the Catalyst is just logical because shooting the thing that just gave you a list of choices is a pretty direct "f**k you", a rejection in and of itself.

So, the endings are still underwhelming as a massive (pun totally unintended but sure, let's roll with it) fan of the Mass Effect series but at least now I have closure.

It's the butt hurt ending. It's either accept Biowares "Artistic Vision" or lose. Never buying from Bioware again, even if I decide not to boycott anymore.

I am satisfied. They fixed the dumbest plotholes(or at least put bandaids on them), and they at least changed thing so that your actions didn't destroy the galaxy(previous Destroy and Synthesis endings where the Mass Relays literally exploded... No matter what the Biodrones say, the canonical explanation of the physics of a Mass Relay does not allow for any scenario where all Mass Relay exploding would do anything less than obliterate 60% of the galaxy. Hence the change to them just kind of getting damaged with the "rings" breaking apart. Even BioWare noticed and acknowledged that massive ****-up.)

This should have been the ending all along, but good on BioWare for at least taking the time to fix the ending that was CLEARLY rushed(Seriously, the original ending felt like somebody at BioWare realized that they forgot to assign a team to the ending and they suddenly only had 2 weeks to slap something together).

I'm honestly satisfied, most loose ends are tied up. LOL at anyone who was expecting some cliche happy ending, I liked the concept of the original endings but I felt there was too little and none of it made sense. Now its all good. I still pick the Destroy, I don't feel like being some sort of God and I don't want to turn everyone into a half-machine. The original plan was to destroy the reapers and I will follow through to that.

Yeah but you're screwing over the people that brought you to where you are now. The Geth are going to die and so is any synthetic life. I went with the refusal ending initially because I just wanted to see what it was but now I would totally go for the Control ending. God Shep sounds like a boss! :D

Ok I just watched it.

It was a solid epilouge. But my question is. Why dafaq didn't bioware just throw this in there to begin with.

I mean it's nice that it ties a lot of the stuff up. But one question still lingers. WHY DID DA JOKAH RUN AWAY?

blue_hazy_basic
To me it kinda looks like he jumped in a relay and the beam behind him is travelling between them. As for why he runs, now hes given an order and they are trying to put distance between themselves and the crucible, not quite sure what its going to do.

Why does his ship crash when the other fleet ships make it out just fine?

I was/am an indoc fan. If they went that way, I would have been happy barring one fact: they shipped an unfinished game (since Shepard would be on the ground unconscious). This would make for a horrible precedent. Had they finished up the whole game based on the indoc theory, it would be far better than this in my honest opinion. However, I quite like this too, so I am not going to complain. :)

I don't know if the other ships make it out alive...and I am not too sure if he crashed either. It's all a bit vague but I don't really mind...it's a lot better than having another plot hole. :?
I don't know if the other ships make it out alive...and I am not too sure if he crashed either. It's all a bit vague but I don't really mind...it's a lot better than having another plot hole. :?

Um, that is another plot hole. The ships make it out fine because the ending sequences showcase them ships, and yet Joker crashes... but mysteriously the ships gets repaired and then launches off the planet at the end? What the heck?

Choices didn't matter in the end but it still was nice closure, you get a *not bad* from me Bioware.

There are FIVE endings now, TWO are new (although one of them is redone) Destroy, Control, Synthesis, Refusal, Vaporization.

They do matter, as much as DAO and Fallout with ending slides.

Desmonic

Just hit up the BSN. It's incredibly divided right now. There are some that are genuinely happy or at least satisfied with the new endings (like me) and others who hate them as much as ever.

I got the synth ending on my playthrough, so I just watched the extended version of that, plus the refusal ending for giggles... ..and I'm very happy with the new cut; it's much clearer now. Though I really don't think Bioware needed to cop all that flak in the first place, it's now a very well done ending to a story I started at 17 and ended at 22, awesome.

On control ending: It seems like all of a sudden Commander Shepard let the power go to his head and now he feels like god, it is a change of personality I think. My least favorite of the three.

On synthesis ending: Everyone becomes a nightlight. The only problem I had with this ending is now that everyone has unlimited knowledge and everyone is the perfect being what is the meaning of life? Ending was alright, second favorite.

On destroy ending: While I do feel bad for destroying the Geth after I just helped them, they are still just AI. With the Reapers gone, there is no chance for someone to make a new AI that will try to infect them in the future. All the races are able to learn and evolve to continue with the cycle of life as they see fit. It will take a much longer time for them to rebuild society but I believe it is the way it should be. My favorite ending.
