42k after holidays season isnt bad but seriously its either SONY get a killer game on it as soon as possible or drop the price to 199$
Kashiwaba
Let's wait until end of month.
They have 3 games released by then - Gravity Daze, Ragnarok Oddyssey and Tales.
If sales still don't pick up, then we could start worrying,
Well let's see, I own both and the Vita has the better features, battery life, and online. I didn't buy all the Japanese launch titles but going by the U.S. launch the Vita is nearly equal to the 3DS in library and will match it by March when Gravity Dave and such came out. Alot of people mention the Vita having some ports but most of the best 3DS games are ports including Monster Hunter which is helping the 3DS dominate in Japan.[QUOTE="FlamesOfGrey"][QUOTE="Mario1331"]
how is the ps vita a better system? just curious
nitekids2004
Pretty much.
Outside of sales, the software of Vita is in the same ballpark with the 3DS. Hardware, PSV is definitely better (albeit more expensive).
To say the PS Vita software is as good as the 3DS software is a bit hyperbolic, but I will agree that people who downplay Vita software are a bit ridiculous. For how young the system is, it's got some great games, and people need to give it a chance, some breathing space, you know?[QUOTE="Kashiwaba"]

So....

Other 3DS games worth checking out would be Dead Or Alive Dimensions, Pushmo, Mighty Switch Force, VVVVV and Freakyforms. Also, since you included a port up there, there is always Ocarina of Time 3D as well. The 3DS has a really good library by now. When Vita launches, it will have even more games to compete against. Resident Evil: Revelations, Luigi's Mansion 2, Kid Icarus Uprising, Sakura Samurai and Dillon's Rolling Western are just some of the games that are releasing right around the time the Vita releases.Doesn't look good for the Vita.
But you know everyone is wanting for the revenge threads once the Vita gets out of the Land of the rising sun n sells like the Iphone.
You know this is coming lol.
It can never sell like an iPhone. It costs more upfront, especially if you want it fully functional, and it doesn't even work as a phone. It's best hope was to be competitive with the 3DS, but even that is not happening now.Doesn't look good for the Vita.

And I'm pretty sure the Gundam game would push sales as well. Its a Gundam game after all.
If SCE tried again with that "Field Commander" [shameless Advance Wars knockoff], it could have some potential. Or they could make the next one a Company of Heroes ripoff. I think there's a lot of potential in some old 1-title IP's that Sony should consider tapping into.

We're talking about 3/1 NA/EU launch PSV and 3DS titles.
A good Gundam Battle Assault game would be reason enough to make me buy a Vita. The recent ones [to my understanding] weren't even good, but GW has a lot of nostalgia value for me.RO could be a sleeper hit (like God Eater Burst).
And I'm pretty sure the Gundam game would push sales as well. Its a Gundam game after all.

Also, a terribad Gundam game moved a $600 PS3 in Japan, a decent Gundam game can almost certainly move a $250 Vita in Japan.

lol, no problem :P
It can't really be a sleeper hit if the DS version from 3 years ago sold 240k. The Vita's userbase is so small that it probably won't even do more than 50k :/RO could be a sleeper hit (like God Eater Burst).

But I'll give you Gundam. That thing gave the PS3 a huge boost back in 2007. I think the PS3 jumped from 8k to 40k in that week.
I hope Gravity Rush/Daze can deliver. The mechanic is quite interesting that it'd be a shame for it to screw up in a case of "good idea - poor execution".
[QUOTE="peterw007"]but wat? I dont understand why people arent buying it. It has great tech and a bunch of features, good games (coming also), and the price is not overpriced at all. $250 for a system that does wat $400-$600 phones are doing, plus BUTTONS and TWO analog stiqs!!!!! This was the system everyone wanted and begged for 2-3years ago. Why they dont want it now? There is something really wrong here, SONY did everything right this time, but...... IDKThe Vita is really struggling.
The more that Sony tries to wait it out, the farther into the grave the Vita will go.
Something needs to change with the Vita, and fast.
Nengo_Flow
This is true. The only thing I agree with other people on is the whole memory card thing. Also, 3G was a waste of money to implement. Aside from that, this console should have everything going for it.

This game, by the looks of it, is going to be similar to the Gundam Rengou vs Zaft games in the PSP. In that case, they're gonna be good.

I remembered, not even six months ago, so many system war peeps and the game industry claimed the 3DS to be the next Virtual Boy. We, the 3DS defenders, would fight back with, "wait until price cut and Pokemon to come out." Every you look, there were only negative press about the 3DS, especially here at Gamespot. haha. Now Gamespot doesn't even dare to post any news about 3DS destroying Vita. lol. Where's all this, "3DS is doomed," threads gone to?
That and/or perhaps price. Sony's godforsaken marketing strategies probably aren't helping either. They have the games (combined 1st and 3rd party) to compete. Now if they could just get their s**t together on those other three things.Correct me if I'm wrong, but those titles coming out for the ps vita do seem to be geared more towards the western demographic rather than japan. Maybe that's the reason why its doing so poorly in Japan? just a speculation.

I'm really tired of all of these stupid anti-Sony (Sony is doomed threads). it's not like one product of theirs (especially a hand-held device) is going to ruin a huge corperation that makes all kinds of electronics equipment. Nevermind the fact that the Vita still had yet to be released outside of Japan. Just because it sell poorly in Japan doesn't automatically mean thta it'll sell poorly throughout the rest of the world.

Sony's in a bad situation -- significantly worse than Nintendo was in.
They can't afford to drop the price immediately and their first party isn't as strong as Nintendo's. They won't be able to bring out one or two titles that is going to sell a ton of hardware. They had Monster Hunter with the PSP and they will probably get one for Vita (they might have it, i don't follow the line up that much) -- but now the 3DS has two Monster Hunter games of it's own.
In terms of my personal preference, the Vita has no games for me right now besides Persona 4.

I'm going to wait until the end of Feb. If sales are still crap by the US/EU launches, then THAT would be a disaster. I'm predicting a solid 300k+ in Feb in the NPD for the Vita (launch weeks, y'know) And then a huge drop to like 130k in March in NPD followed by 100k-150k performances throughout March until e3 or summer when Sony hopefully does something about it.The PSP has sold horrible since 2009 in North America. This isn't a good sign for the Vita PSP Sales in North America by year: 2008-4.5 million, 2009-2.6 million, 2010-2.2 million, 2011- between 1.5 million and 2 million The PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS have regularly doubled, tripled, or quadrupled the PSP's sales in north america every year. If there isn't much interest in the PSP in America, it doesn't bode well for the Vita. You never know though.I'm really tired of all of these stupid anti-Sony (Sony is doomed threads). it's not like one product of theirs (especially a hand-held device) is going to ruin a huge corperation that makes all kinds of electronics equipment. I made no less than six Media Create threads back when the 3DS was failing that proclaimed that the 3DS was doomed. I never got any complaints then. Most of the time, the thread title is just an ironic remark towards general opinion on System Wars. This would be one of those instances. The topic title is also there to attract attention. Please Log In to post.
