The latest numbers from Media Create for gaming hardware and software are out from Japan, and the talking point is obviously the Vita's remarkably abysmal numbers, as well as the utter and thorough domination by the 3DS, in both the hardware and software charts.

Notes and Observations:

• The 3DS thoroughly dominated. No questions about it, Nintendo has the Japanese market on lock.
• The 3DS trifecta- Mario Kart, Super Mario 3D Land and Monster Hunter Tri G- own the software charts
• Despite its slow start, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is showing remarkable legs
• The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is an unmitigated flop
• The PS Vita is a thorough disaster. Sony needs to course correct, pronto.
• No new software this week.

This doom and gloom over the PSvita is kind of irritating. Don't ya'll realise it's going to sell like hot cakes in the US and the rest of the world, not to mention the 3DS had similary bad sales at the beginning because there were barely any games.

If they lower the price later on and if the library gets stronger, i think this war will be over.

PS Vita is DOA. At this rate it might not even leave Japan...ever.
