So I started playing it last night. What the ****? I only ever played the ps3 version...which in comparison to this looked like utter shit. It's so much much better looking the shadows don't pop and you can actually read the signs; not only that but the framerate is excellent I'm feeling it's a little above 30fps. Goddamn does it feel much nicer.

I'm very curious what they did with the emulator to make this run so good, did they have to fine tune the emulator? Can other BC games have their performance optimized as well too?

For those playing it, how does it run? I tried playing Halo Reach on my Xbox One and the emulation is very poor. Low framerates and muddy graphics compared to it running natively.

Halo: Reach was patched, it runs fine now, and RDR via BC runs better than the Xbox 360 version by a large margin, it's pegged at 30 FPS almost always.

I just played Reach this past week and it ran like shit. It didn't patch itself or anything. Do I have to do something to get that patch to download?

No, but it's been patched, that's all I know, and it runs fine for me, it also ran fine for me months ago, I even made a video and posted it here for people that didn't believe me.

Yea, great isn't it? After a bit more play, I've noticed some drops here and there but it's MUCH more consistent to 30 than the 360 version ever was. I'm still reminded of why the game feels like it "slogs" and the people walking around feel like they're in slow motion (Euphoria engine?), but the game plays smoother.

Damn, last night I had the coolest shit happen. Finished the Tumbleweeds side mission, and discovered an apparently common bug (at least from what Google search said) where John wouldn't auto-holster his weapons after completion. Went to Fort Mercer and slowly stalked through the brush, double shotty draw, cougar hunting. Then I went back into town, saved, and it auto-holsters again. I don't know why I'm not allowed to keep my weapon draw at my discretion. It added so much to atmosphere, immersion, and roleplaying.

STUPID, R*, stupid. They of all developers should know that it's the little details that count.

From what I hear RDR's source code is a hot mess and even rumored to be lost. They put GTA on PC so it's hard for me to imagine they'd neglect this unless they had a valid reason. Maybe getting it to run on such a wide variety of hardware would've been a nightmare.

To be fair, in campaign Halo Reach always had framerate issues. And that fucking blur, ugh.

Why not replay it on your or did your 360 broke.?

You know what you know there is a problem with your platform of choice,when 3 years into its generation owners of the platform are salivating over a backwards compatible game that is not even brand exclusive to begin with,hell at least Halo 3,4,Reach i can understand but RDR...lol

Sony needs to answer to gamers. PS4 owners wanna play red dead redemption they might not have a ps3 or 360 they might traded those in and they want to play this great gritty western open world game.

Gamers voted on that game if I remember I don't think PC has access tot his game either which is a big deal imo.

Thought I had a 360 disc around still. Must have traded it many moons ago or lost it, just have the PS3 copy so bought it digitally on sale on Xbox Live. Can't wait to play with a better frame rate and with my pro controller.

I'm actually jealous...lol I don't own any consoles at the moment, but Read Dead Redemption was always one of my favorite games of all time. Glad to hear it's running smoothly too!

Oh please dude they kill backward compatibility on PS3 which started as a backward compatible system,i am sure they don't care about RDR or backward compatibility on PS4.

The PS4 can't be backward compatible with the PS3 for a numbers of reason,the main one is that Jaguar inside the PS4 can't emulate Cell for shit,on xbox 360 is difference because the Xenon CPU was weak as shit,but on PS4 emulating Cell would probably require an i7,Cell offloaded GPU task which can still be a big deal for many CPU even modern ones.

The other is royalties if they want to emulate the RSX they have to pay Nvidia for it.

No lemming you people want to play RDR because the xbox one suck ass game wise,so you have to re live pass glory days,even if they are multiplatforms,i don't want to play RDR and i love the game,i already play it allot,and have it for my now dead 360 and my son has it on its PS3 even the expansion.
