The Metroid Prime series is truly a quality experience. Mood, gameplay, atmosphere, graphics, exploration (it's like a Zelda/halo mix) and pacing are all wonderful. With the new controls it might make me hate other FPS controls.

In terms of level of interest I have about each game, I'm gonna say: Halo > Killzone > Crysis >>>> Metroid.

I hate Nintendo for being the originators of the videogame sequel. Make some new original games please... My mistake, they have Cooking Mama, right? Aren't they releasing a health food game too?? Anyone up for some Cooking Mama 2? What a joke. Nintendo is going to be the death of video game development. It's like they are afraid of change. For god's sake, the Wii is a flattened Gamecube. I liked them better when they couldn't sell a console to save their lives...

Nintendo hatred asside, I really don't see what the appeal behind Metroid is. I played Metroid Prime on my GC and couldn't get past the first couple hours because it was so damned boring. Shooting laser guns are okay but every single FPS has them. Resistance has them, Halo has them, big f'n whoop. Cool, I can rool up into a little ball and... ummm... move and stuff. sweet. Cool, I'm actually a girl under the suit... it's cool because that makes the gameplay super sexy now... Cool... uhhh... did I mention that I can roll up into a little ball and all the exciting modes of gameplay that creates?

I hope that all these stupid first party Nintendo rehashes bomb so that they will force a stale company with a gimmick of a console to do something original. Oh and in case you're wondering, motion controls sure as hell aren't original. They are just the first company to sell it with success. A few months ago, people were selling "futuristic motion controlled games" at Kiosks in malls for 15 bucks. I could play ping pong on my freaking TV! Then Nintendo got some brilliant idea to stick their logo on it and all of a sudden it was the most original thing that anyone had ever seen. What do these brilliant motion controls allow you to do? Oh you can uh... roll up into a little ball and uhh... move around with it and stuff... cool! 

So yeah, Metroid sucks.

Sorry about that rant but I hate fads with a passion... Now if you'll excuse me, I have to listen to my iPod as my furby broke and I can't find my Pokemon cards anywhere.

I have to agree. I adored Metroid Prime, but I couldn't even finish Echoes. I got halfway through the game and I was like, "What the heck? Is this even from the same developer?"

i have the gamecube and i never thought of getting any of MP games.....i think it didnt get me into it cuz of this FPA thing..

and TC gives some crappy reasons...cause past mp games was AAA?...halo1,2 was AAA.. and MP graphics is the best graphic on wii?? ok...but cant be on the level in graphics with the other games ......and crysis  from what i have seen...looks great ...and for killzone2 i dont know maybe it will be great maybe not.

Metroid Prime 3 will destroy all these game in gameplay because of past metroid prime games and theyve consistently been AAA , it will also use the wiis controller, halo 3 will have great gameplay also but will not live up to 360 current graphics, killzone 2 dont make me laugh, and crysis that game only has graphics weres the gameplay.

first of all...stop with FPA nonsense, MP isn't adventure game. Second...MP might be deeper than Halo or Doom, but compared to stuff like SWAT4, SystemShock, Deus Ex, STALKEr and others it's quite shallow.

Oblivion has first person combat, so maybe it's an FPS too...Also, you just mentioned a bunch of games that are also hybrid-FPS (Stalker, Deus Ex, etc.), so again, we're comparing apples and oranges.

To compare MP3 with Halo 3, Killzone 2 and Crysis is incredibly stupid. I wouldn't recommend to question a game's gameplay without trying it, either (Crysis). Litchie

We confuse this for a shooter only because its in first person and the weapons are all ranged. When playing other shooters, not just the first person kind, we have to realize that there really isn't any platforming/exploring involved, and a large part of Metroid Prime is spent doing that. It is first person, yes. It has FPS-like action yes. But it is an adventure game before its a finger-twitching shooter.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to get into a battle of semantics with you; when I said adventure, I wasn't ruling out it being action-adventure, I was simply stating it wasn't just a shooter. But I'm glad I have you here as my editor to point these things out. ;)

Also, my point was that Metroid Prime isn't a typical shooter, so comparing it to FPS (like I was) is comparing apples to oranges. The post was written a little confusingly, I know, but what I was trying to say was that Deus Ex and games like that don't figure into this conversation, since I was arguing against FPS, not against titles that branch off from the genre. The point I'm trying to make is that (for example) when Goldeneye came out for the N64, you could make an argument for it being more than "just an FPS", as there were different objectives you had to complete in each mission. Nowadays the typical FPS is all about shooting (just look at Halo; I love the series, but the gameplay itself is pretty standard, albeit refined), which is why I'm arguing the statement that MP is a "child's game" compared to the typical FPS. It may not be quite as epic as Deus Ex, but it's on a different level of complexity than Doom, and Halo, and games of that mold. Why "brag about its depth"? I wasn't; I was merely responding to previous posts which attacked Metroid Prime's complexity by comparing it to FPS games.

My logic is flawless. I never wrote MP is FPS, I just wrote it's not an adventure game and that much is true. MP is simply action-adventure, preety typical one(when it comes to proportions of action to adventure elements). that's exacly what MP is: action-adventure. So please...don't call it adventure, because it makes even less sense than calling it FPS.
