[QUOTE="The_Ish"][QUOTE="Nerkcon"][QUOTE="wavebrid"][QUOTE="The_Ish"] You do realize that Metroid Prime is an FPA and not an FPS, right?

accodring to some sheep its going more inline with fps on wii than what it was when it was fpa
but what do gamespot and ign say it is?
Ign calls it - Genre:Adventure
gamespot calls it - Genre: Sci-Fi First-Person Shooter
:? which is it
And Zelda is a RPG like Final Fantasy, Nintendo said so themselves. But then again, in normal terms all games are RPGs because you play someone your not. :|
We confuse this for a shooter only because its in first person and the weapons are all ranged. When playing other shooters, not just the first person kind, we have to realize that there really isn't any platforming/exploring involved, and a large part of Metroid Prime is spent doing that. It is first person, yes. It has FPS-like action yes. But it is an adventure game before its a finger-twitching shooter.

just because a game has some exploration and few basic puzzles mixed with platorming doesn't mean it's an adventure game. MP is ten times more similiar to FPS than to adventure game/.
Just because it has some shooting and a few bosses mixed in doesn't mean its a FPS either. See how the logic fails?
It does not have some, or few, it has many. Take a look at it this way: when MP was 2D, was it a shooter? Perhaps a better question would be was it anything like Contra, or Metal Slug, both of which are shooters? The answer is no. MP is more of an adventure game. If you read a certain post above this one, someone explains how its actually an action-adventure (that gets even more into semantics).Â
