The whole point for a game is to entertain.. thats why its called an entertainment system.


The main gameplay mechanic of metal gear solid is the story let alone the graphics, soundtrack, sound effects, modelling etc.
Thats probably the first thing done.

If your bored, skip it. Its all down to a push of a button.. or its too time consuming to push a button now than wait a minute for an install?

Theres only 5 acts, taking about 1-3 minutes to install. Probably the same amount of time cutting some grass and walking to a dungeon.

The plot of mgs4 has been continuing on from the first metal gear game.

You stated "that's why it's called an entertainment system," then posted a picture of the NES. Besides it having no point in this thread, that's the NES and not the Playstation. MGS4 is on the Playstation 3. I'm buying video games, but movies also. I'm pretty damn sure it's a video game console too.

Certainly feels longer than that. I don't keep a watch next to me to track the time. That still doesn't excuse it from not permenantly installing it, or having the option to.

Boring story and boring cutscenes. I'd rather sit through MGS1 on the PS1. Just because it continues doesn't mean it's any good.

To chubby, why should we limit games to just one vision? I and others love MGS for it's cutscenes, visual flair, story that incorporates real world ideas and thoughts but combines them with akward and funny humor. We love the gameplay and stealth mechanics, awesome boss fights that have meaning, the ability to cqc a guy 50 different ways. For you to say there is not enough game in metal gear is just wrong. Isn't the whole point of having different games and genres is to provide a wide range of expiriences. We have skyrim that offers total freedom and uncharted that leashes your neck and drags you down a path(which is needed and wanted) to create different and unique expiriences. What lacks in todays entertainment in general is originality, and metal gear is original in almost everything it does.

I never said we should. I play MGS games for the great gameplay, and they also look good compared to other games when they arrive (MGS4 is the only exception. I think it's ugly.) That doesn't mean it can't go down the path of MGS4, but I'm certainly not going to stop hating those elements simply because it's different. I'm entitled to my opinion of it.

I said there's not enough game in MGS4. It feels far too short compared to the others.

I have a feeling this might be for next gen systems. Also I think it would be cool if they let you play as Merel or something, but Snake will always be the best. Mabey it will be big boss again?

I just jumped on the MGS4 hate bandwagon. That's it. MGS4 shouldn't be treated as the beacon or highlight of this gen, or even considered to be that. Also he went off-topic, so I went off-topic (sort've.)

With MGS5, if we have a new character it's gonna have a lot of new story to introduce which is a good and bad thing. Good, in the way that it'll create the least amount of contradictions and make the most sense, as well as being friendly to newcomers hopefully. Bad, as it might use MGS4's storytelling again.

MGS isn't exclusive to Sony.

However being an Xbox exclusive is not possible simply due to the Xbox brand being hated in Japan.

Yeah he only has like a few months left alive at the end of MGS 4. Plus he has the fox dye virus, which is nullified mostly, but who knows.... Too confusing....

I agree, I wouldn't mind seeing Meryl as a main charecter. Or it would be kinda cool if Snake passes on his knowledge to someone younger than he is and they take up his legacy. Another possiblity is Big Boss like MGS 3.

Here's hoping for Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 remakes. But it sais Metal Gear Solid in the title so...

i love MG games. Just keeping them coming.

I liked MGS4, and PW was really good as well. Gameplay wise both were better than 2&3. Story wise its been so long since I beat MGS4 that I dont really remember the story very well, but I liked the game a lot. And it was my favorite game of the year in 2008.

I would rather have one of these then a Solid Snake Game.

1. Full 3D Remakes of MG 1 and 2 (with all the bells and whistles)

2. New Protagonist (Grey Fox, The Boss, Roy Campbell)

3. A Raiden Plot (Doubt it seeing as Rising is coming)

4. A Big Boss game (Like MGS3 and PW)

Raiden's kid will be the next Snake, and Sunny will be the next Otacon. set 20 years after MGS4. new set of characters, new villains, new story arc. ohhh yeeaaaahhhhh!!

i think Kojima wanted to deviate away from Snake. he wanted to portray Snake as just another soldier, and that's why he introduced Raiden in MGS2 and tricked us into thinking it was Snake all along.

too bad so many blacklash from fans happened. Kojima didn't think there'd be so much affection for Snake's character. remember, MGS1 and previous games are all Snake, but pre-MGS1 games were not as story-driven as the MGS1-4 games. so yeah, he had Raiden for MGS2, and Big Boss for MGS3, Portable Ops, PeaceWalker. he wanted to move away from Snake's character but fans protested.

now we get a new MGS arc. maybe it won't even be Metal Gear Solidmaybe he'll replace it with something else. a codename for little Johnny.

I wouldn't mind a Metal Gear 1 and 2 remake (the original 8 bit games)

I understand their stories have been told but they are incredibly outdated, difficult to play and the tone of the story doesn't mesh that well with the Solid series, even with the fact that they are directly related. They are important to the Metal Gear universe in many ways.

If not then I would rather a whole new protagonist. In a future after MGS4. The story of Big Boss probably should have ended with 3, it was all that was needed so sum up the downfall of his character. Solid Snake is an old grampa now, probably dead in a few months, the Snake stories need to die. Bring in a new character, in a new world that has changed so much since 4, create a new trilogy, that is what I'm looking for.

Why are people focusing on the MGS part? It says he's sharing details on another game as well, at least I hope it's a game.
