MGS4 down to 92.5% on Gamerankings

I believe it was when GS gave MGS4 a 10/10 lol..but neverthless Gamespot is not so good anymore...after they fired jeff.G and like half of the review staff left the scores and reviews gamespot hands out just doesn't feel right. Under the old system MGS4 might have gotten like a 9.7 or something..same with GTA4. This entire "new" review system sucks..it is just lazy so to speak.

Ok I never played MGS4, and I didn't like Oblivion that much, but Oblivion can last you well over a 100 hours. That says a lot. I hate short games..

Well when I said that Gears of War was one of the greatest games of all time, people attacked me. When people say MGS4 is one of the greatest games of all time, everyone is fine, even though Gears of War is rated much higher than MGS4.

Who cares what others think. If you think Gears is the best so eb it. It was amazing imo.

And ratings don't mean much on a small scale. Games rated from 90% to 98% are all brilliant. You got to factor in other things like platform and genre. SOTC is at 92%ish and i think thats one of the best games ever.

Take out all the weird euro mags that gave it a 7 for whatever reason

and only count the respected review site places and most of them have a 10...

this is one instance where gamerankings or metacritic doesn't work to classify a game

Well, I just got my copy today at a massive discount (Thank you Meijer misprint! ), and I will be invest quite a few hours into it tomorrow, so I will make my own judgement, thanks.

I am greatly looking forward to it.

Oh, and TC, We use GameSpot here (Look at your browser's address bar, it says http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_topics.php?board_id=314159282 when you post on SW! ) so no game is better than MGS4. ;)

Kevin van Ord is also the worst reviewer in the history of Gamespot. He gave COD3 an 8.8, Mass Effect an 8.5, R & C a 7.5, and Assassin's Creed a 9.0.

Well if you havent played it, then why would you bother rating it at all?

I'm just posting the facts. Just because you liked MGS4 more than Oblivion, doesn't mean its a better game. The fact remains that Oblivion is ranked higher than MGS4.

The whole review thing is getting WAY out of hand. Reviewers AREN'T Gods. They are individuals who get paid to review. So if xx reviews think this game is A+ doesn't mean xx non reviews think the game is A+. Unless you are one of those type of individuals who likes following the opinions of others instead of having their own. I personally only read reviews to get a general feel for a game I haven't played, its a great opportunity to read about little details that aren't relatively known. However, if a reviewer thinks a game is C+ material doesn't mean I will think it is.

I will definitely agree with you on this. I think Kevin Van Ord and Aaron Thomas have a bet going to see who can write the worst review. Really, Metroid Prime 3 deserved at least a 9, and there is no way Audiosurf should've gotten anything below an 8.5

It's easy to tell who hasn't played the game. Reviewers can be fanboys, too, like the TC, who never played the game and rated it 1/10.

Hmmm... I've been here for awhile, and as near as I can tell, GS scores are the only scores that are "real" in the sense of being used for ownage purposes. However, only fanboys (and only when it is convenient at the time) seem to have a problem with mentioning other scores AT ALL. They may not be "official," but they exist in the world of gaming and can (and should) be mentioned in relevant discussions between adults.
