MGS4 down to 92.5% on Gamerankings

I'm not shocked that MGS4 is not on top on Gamerankings. Since it's a game you either love or hate.

But I'm shocked that Halo 3 is that far up, I know it was over hyped. Critics loved it, and I have seen people threaten reviewers who gave it a low score. But I still don't think it's good!

But I really don't care about scores, I buy the game I think looks cool. Diablo 2 is one of the best games I have played and it "only" 8.7 or something. But thats great aswell, but in this world thats "only"

i always have said this but the playstation is the only system that has games that burns a everlasting image in people souls, Metal Gear Solid, MGS4, Final Fantasy 7, Xenogears Final Fantasy 10, Front Mission 3,God Of War 1 and 2............the xbox just doesnt have that epicness, because theylack talented japanessedevs.......im mean they could have one with mystwalkers or whatever they're called........but there games have been flops.Syn_Valence

Where have I ever denied that MGS4 is AAAA on gamespot? All I said was that it is ranked lower than many other games this gen on Gamerankings.

He was probably talking to lemmings in general. You see that cows have used other sites to show that their games were great, and lemmings said it's GameSpot that counts. And now it's

Gears of war.... yeah same as Halo, beat the game and then play against people glitching and people that are too good to even compete with.

What happened to Gamerankings not mattering? I know lems liked to all out how Cows suddenly loved GS because of MGS4's scores, but the same can be said about the other way around.

Gamerankings can also be considered inaccurate as well because console specific magazines are not considered reliable.

Popularity does not automatically mean better. Pc's games are Ingmar Bergman, Consoles are mass market movies with the tag "Will Smith" on the end. When it comes down to it, you are both below the pc, but that's ok, you are still good for what you are.

sure its a good game, but 10 out of 10 here isn't the same as the original 4 that recieved it, with the scale a 10 doesn't mean perfect like soul calibur and the others were deemed, but with the trolls stop complaining mgs4 is a great game

It's reasons like this why this gen is such a mess. People get far too caught up on stupid numbers. A lot of you are the sad types of people who would have ignored games like Deus Ex and System Shock 2 because they got below AAA from Gamespot.Zeliard9

If gamerankings doesn't accurately depict a games score, then neither does gamespot because if a review aggregator *im drunk* isn't valid then why would a single review be valid?

cant have both people. which is why i will continue to use gamerankings or metacritic because its much more accurate then single reviews, mgs4 is not a 10 its a 9.2 most definately.

It seems like it's a phenomenon of this gen. I don't recall so many people paying so much attention to the scores games got nearly to this extent in previous gens. It has to do with the rising popularity of Metacritic and Gamerankings, I guess, and the fact that companies actually use Metacritic scores now as a part of their business model. It's become very influential.

I like those sites, not because they average out the number, but simply because they're easy and instant access to numerous amounts of reviews on a particular game if you need some info.

The point is to actually read the reviews, though, not stare at a number. A lot of people don't seem to get that, and that includes higher-ups in the business. I don't think it's necessarily been shown that high review scores translate to high sales. Too many critically-acclaimed games have bombed commercially, and vice versa.

When Ratchet flopped, Heavenly Sword didnt do as good, same with Uncharted, every Lemming was talking about GS scores and Cows had to deal with it, now you deal with the 10.

Metacritic is not as accurate. It always rounds up and has a different scale for games that use letter grades.
