[QUOTE="cowgriller"][QUOTE="AgentA-Mi6"][QUOTE="cowgriller"][QUOTE="AgentA-Mi6"] This game was a million seller before release, it was confirmed many times that 1.3 million copies were preorders, it already surpassed the 4 million mark.
Success Period.

4 million shipped to stores, not sold to the consumer. "...less than 1.4 million were sold to the public". check one of my prior posts for a link to proof.
NO.
And the game wont stop selling, of course the boom already passed, zealots like myself bough the game at launch of very shortly after, But then again, this game wont stop selling.
umm YES!!!
if wii-fit sold 1.4 million units this year alone and is number 8 in the top 10 best selling list of this year, what does that mean for mgs4? that means it sold less than 1.4 million. DUH!! just because a self-proclaimed zealot like yourself bought the game on launch doesn't everyone who owns the ps3 will buy the game. the same wway that not every 360 owner bought gears, halo 3, or bioshock.
the game won't stop selling? this thread is full of proof that it already stopped selling and you still refuse to believe it. face it, no casual or hardcore gamer wants to buy an interactive movie for $60. only the zealots/mgs fans like yourself. mgs4 may have scored a 10 here on gs, but sales wise, it's a ------- flop!
hell halo 3 sold more units in 24 hours in just the us than mgs 4 sold in 2 months worldwide. halo 3 us sale: 24 hours
let's do some math shall we.
24 hour us sale = $170 million
$170,000,000 / $120 (cost of the legendary edition) = 1,416,666 or 1.42 million units @ $120 each
$170,000,000 / $70 (cost of the limited edition) = 2,428,571 or 2.49 million units at $70
$170,000,000 / $60 (cost of regaular edition) = 2,833,333 or 2.83 million units @ $60
ouch. teh pwnage.
And because the game was the second coming of Jesus, thats why everyone stopped talking and caring about Halo 3 and moved over to CoD4 the second in came out.
Sales do matter for the sake of a game's production cost and weither or not a sequel should be made, but don't equate to a game being great. Hell look at the Wii, every single person I know says that they bought into the hype, bought one, played it for a few weeks, and now the system is just sitting on shelves.
This gen's console market has been pushed so far up the casual moron's ass that sales don't mean a damn thing in terms of quality.
oh i never said that halo 3 was a great game. i merely said that in one day, it managed to sell more copies in the US alone than mgs4 sold in 2 months worldwide. does that mean that halo 3 is great and mgs4 sucks? no, absolutely not. it just means that ps3's best game simply cannot compete sales-wise with the 360's best.
the wii, i agree whole-heartily with you, was just hype. it is nothing more than a white gamecube with a motion sensing tv control (with less buttons).
as for your last sentence, it seems we are on the same page there.
