[QUOTE="3picuri3"][QUOTE="AgentH"][QUOTE="3picuri3"][QUOTE="AgentH"]This topic = FAIL. MGS4 sold more than 3 million copies in 14 days. ALL BUNDLES were SOLD OUT and they are still sold out at most Best Buys and in Amazon.com. Seriously, a fail. It's the fastest selling PS3 exclusive. Damn it that makes it even a much failure topic and useless thread. Try again later LEMS.
Read this:
MGS4 sold over 3 million copies just in 14 days!

those sales figures are to stores. not actual sales.
and again, this thread is about how it just totally dropped of the radar and plummeted, not about how it sold when it first came out - so you fail :)
GTAIV, a MULTIPLATFORM game dropped of the radar and plummeted aswell. But this doesn't mean it won't sell anymore copies. MGS4 will still sell millions. By the end of the year sales of MGS4 would've reached 5 millions.no, actually it didn't, try reading the article linked in this thread. and you might want to start backing up your assertions because many of them have been proven false in this thread. and i'm talking PS3, not multiplatform please stay on topic.
and again, it won't near 5 million at this rate considering your 4 million sold presently figure isn't to homes, and we don't count sales to stores around here ;)
wow you are so blind, first i think its stupid to think that mgs4 was going to sell as much as the over rated crap halo 3 was. And for the guy that said MGS4 sold only 1.4 million to date needs to check his facts.http://kotaku.com/5033383/metal-gear-solid-4-is-a-giant-angry-sales-pac+man-ships-394m-copies
As of august 5, it shipped 3.94 million units world wide, if it was selling only 1.4 million, why the hell would they ship that many units.
let's get this straight. mgs4 shipped 3.94 million units to stores. they sold only 1.4 million of those units. they shipped out 3.94 million units because retailers called the manufacturer to place orders for certain amounts of units. the manufacturer doesn't just make millions upon million of units of a game if there is no demand for it and if the retail stores don't place orders for that many units. that would be a waste of time and resources.
now, selling to the consumer half of the stock that was shipped to the retailer is always a good thing. but for a game like mgs4, with all of the hype, critical acclaim, and advertising dollars that went into it, it should have sold out. it didn't. meaning that it wasn't the big system seller that it was suppose to be. true, it sold some consoles. but that was only a blip in the radar. the console sale was up only for ONE WEEK until they went back down to normal levels.
your link even states that they only SHIPPED 3.94 million units not sold. the top 10 best selling games of this year so far doesn't include mgs4. though eight of the top ten were listed, number eight was wii-fit with a total sale of 1.4 million. this is why i said that mgs4 sold less than 1.4 million copies. logically speaking, if number eight of the top ten sells 1.4 million copies, then numbers nine ten and the rest must've sold less than 1.4 million. if mgs4 sold 4 million copies TO THE CONSUMER, then it would have place third on that list. it didn't, meaning that mgs4 DID NOT SELL 4 MILLION COPIES TO THE CONSUMER. THEY ONLY SHIPPED THAT MUCH TO THE RETAILER. even konami's own quarterly earnings report says that they shipped 3.94 million units to retail stores. does this count as a sale? yes but only to konami. actual sales figures are based on the amount of units sold to the end-user/consumer. this is a better way of gauging actual sales figures because if the sales were based on how many units were sold to the retail stores, any and every company could pull off a MS and sell millions of unneeded units to the retail chains just so that they could show a larger number in their earnings.
in short, mgs4 SHIPPED 3.94 million units to stores.
of those nearly 4 million units, the sold under 1.4 million copies to the consumer.
the amount of mgs4 bundles sold are still unknown but what we do know is that they sold out and that the game managed to sell consoles for only one week. he amount of bundles that were made and shipped to stores is still unknown.
gamespot and system wars considers sales to consumers as actual sales, not sales to the retail stores (aka SHIPPED).
i hope you understand now.
