[QUOTE="i_like_pizza"] [QUOTE="JPOBS"]if the 360 is a decent console, are the other two sub-par?
JPOBS
I would say the Wii can't be judged on the same scale, because it's not trying to do the same thing. For what the Wii is trying to do, I would give it a B so far. It's not absolutely incredible, but it's most certainly not bad. It gave a few of the best games this year, and it showed that its controller works well (MP3, MoHH2, RE4: Wii).
The PS3 had a bad year. It did nothing special whatsoever this year. All of its big games disappointed, and while some were good, it did not have a GREAT game this year besides CoD4. I would give the PS3's first year a D.
The great thing about both of consoles though is that they still havea chance to improve their scores, as they are just 13 months into their lifecycles. The 360 has spent 25 months shaping itself into what it is right now, and its current audience seems to be reaching a saturation point. The 360 has turned itself into "the Halo machine," and it will take a bunch of effort to break that perception, and I honestly don't think it's going to happen.
The 360 is decent. The Wii, by its standards, is good. The PS3, at this point in time, is poor.
what are you talking about?you're trying to put the wii in some other playing field to make it look better. the wii has the LEAST amoutn of AA/AAA games. Its a gaming machine.
And it doesnt matter if you think the 360 is seen as a halo machine, doesnt change the fact that it has the highest amount of AAA/AA games. thats a fact.
If the 360 is "decent" and has the best/most games, then the wii must be a steming pile of turd at the rate its going, because even the ps3 has a larger quantity of good games, which you magically gave a D.
What are YOU talking about?
Is Wii Sports built to get AAA scores from reviewers? Is it built to dazzle you with its great graphics and intense story? No! It's built to be pure fun, and it succeeds at that better than any game has in the past 15 years. Wii Sports is the reason to own a Wii, but that's not even a "AAA" title.
The Wii isn't the same kind of thing that you've been playing for the past 20 years. It does offer some of the same types of games with a little different twist, such as SMG, but some of its games just simply couldn't have been done before in the same way, like Zack and Wiki. The Wii is not just a 360 with worse graphics. It's not even in the same ballpark. It's as different from the 360 and PS3 as the DS is from the 360 and PS3. Just because the Wii connect to a TV and plays games doesn't make it the same kind of thing. Are you gonna call those plug-and-play combos a "game console" because they play the same way as a 360 or PS3? Of course not. They're not meant to do the same thing.
This thread was started with a statement of MS sales. I'm not talking about their library as if they're lacking quality games. I'm talking about their library lacking DEPTH of quality. The 360 will NEVER be a market leader if its current trend continues. There are only so many shooter fans in the world, and then the well runs dry.
And the PS3 and 360 "quality" games are made up of the same kinds of things that could have been done last generation. That's why I, and obviously many other discontented gamers, couldn't care less for the newer "updates" of these games. I don't understand why you think the 360 has such an amazing lineup.
