What's the deal with the 360 being the "Shooter" console again? The argument is tired; the year 2008 will dispel that notion completely, because I barely see any Shooter games for the 360, save for a few.
- Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom
- Lost Odyssey
- Ninja Gaiden II
- Fable 2
- Too Human
- Splinter Cell: Conviction
- Halo Wars
- World in Conflict
- Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements
- Universe At War
- Command and Conquer: Kane's Wrath
- Infinite Undiscovery
- Warhammer: Battle March
- Operation Darkness
- Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures
Remember, that doesn't count multiplatforms regarding consoles. If Gears of War 2, Alan Wake, and Banjo Threeie manage to make it out in time for 2008, that's just one Shooter. The RTS genre is making a home on the 360, and the Action genre is still aplenty. It may have a lot of Shooters, but they're NOT the bulk of the system. Blame the 360 fanbase for being spoiled on the genre, and looking nowhere else to go but Shooters, which is why they sell. Microsoft needs a bit of credit, because they're trying to expand, but the damn fanbase isn't letting them. Money talks..
Now, regarding the thread, I'm glad that Mass Effect has sold that much. At least it won't be a Psychonauts or Beyond Good and Evil; great games underperformed in regards to sales and expectations. In any case, shipping 7 million units isn't terrible, but it's questioning, especially because of the lineup that was presented during those last six months of 2007. Nevertheless, I'm happy to own a 360, because as of now, it offers the games I want and enjoy, and guess what, about 10% are Shooters in my case. All those titles I listed above, I'm interested in.
