I love how Microsoft is being forced to overturn all their stupid decisions, literally day-by-day.
And they even have their hardware specs still undecided.
Who the heck is running that company?
lol

watch as lemmings like RR360DD eat crow when they defended lack of self-publishing as a means for quality control.
they even said the normal retail console can be used for debugging..which is strange because 8gigs is not enough for that + add the 3gigs reserved for the OS.. normal devkits have 12GB.Tessellation
this is huge news. all of neogaf now loves xbox one all of a sudden...  im not lying either.
1. self publishers will have access to the cloud and Kinect
2. retail xbox one can be turned into a dev kit.
Â
thats what we do know...
Â
now what i wanna know.
Â
is it going to be on the 3 gig windows 8 partition?  most likely, and 2 cores for gaming which is dedicated to that partition... Â
i doubt you will get the whole system power like a regular dev like epic would.
Â

all in all this is huge f*cking news.

i never commented on it because nothing was said until today.  indies suck on ps4 compared to xbox one now.  kinect 2.0 the game changer, and dat cloud available to all because each retail version can be debugged

i just still find strange to debug just with 8 gigs of RAM..not even indy developers are going to work with 2.5Gigs..,or they bumped the RAM to 12GB or i just don't know.[QUOTE="XBOunity"][QUOTE="Tessellation"]they even said the normal retail console can be used for debugging..which is strange because 8gigs is not enough for that + add the 3gigs reserved for the OS.. normal devkits have 12GB.Tessellation

I doublt every xboxone will be same dev kit that regular game devs get. It will probably just be something like letting you make apps or small games.watch as lemmings like RR360DD eat crow when they defended lack of self-publishing as a means for quality control.

I can't decide if RR360DD is a fake boy or the most hardcore lemming on system wars.
I really dont understand. People complain about something. It gets changed, people make fun of them for changing... AutoPilotOn
It's not because they changed, but WHY they changed.
It probably will. I love that they're allowing developers to self-publish, and I would love to make a game for the Xbox (assuming my iOS game doesn't fail horribly, which it most likely will), but when it's so easy a 10 year old could make a game, that's exactly what you'll see -- games made by 10 year olds in large clusters, hiding anything notable.Does PS4 let you develop games on it?
If the XBL store becomes as bad as the XBL Indie store then I give up
RR360DD
"Our vision is that every person can be a creator. That every Xbox One can be used for development. That every game and experience can take advantage of all of the features of Xbox One and Xbox LIVE. This means self-publishing. This means Kinect, the cloud, achievements. This means great discoverability on Xbox LIVE. We'll have more details on the program and the timeline at gamescom in August." "THAT EVERY XBOX ONE CAN BE USED FOR DEVELOPMENT" Excuse me everyone I didn't read the thread except for the OP but am I the only one who thinks this news borders on MEGATONish material. I need to take a step back and digest this. Dunno what happened but after reading this news I was instantaneously struck with excitement. I've always fumbled with some ideas about making some cool simple games now MS is literally trying to put the tools in my lap to do this.greensand24
yes, do it too, you can buy an xbox one and turn it into a dev kit, can make indie games, can code it in windows 8 and port it over to xbox one. thats where this is all going to be honest, the only question is how much power will they give the indies, and im hoping for some nice power. i think it will be at 3 gigs because its going to be apart of that OS partition. so switching to a retail game to a indie game can be done and you can play both, with one of course being paused. good luck hope you make a game.
F*cking finally MS!! See, this is a good measure, this gets you good will with gamers (even though they were basically the extremely late kid in the class when it comes to this)! More decent measures like this and you'll have a recipe for success MS! :)

can you turn your ps4 into a dev kit?
[QUOTE="DrTrafalgarLaw"]I still defend it. If the XBL store gets filled with self published garbage, ill know who to blame  sony?...cause sony forced microsoft to follow suit? Xbox 1 has no identity and only copies sony (and Nintendo) now. :?watch as lemmings like RR360DD eat crow when they defended lack of self-publishing as a means for quality control.

a dev kit that only has access to 3 GB of (inferior ddr3 I might add) ram and has to be developed/ported from win8? :? even OUYA had better dev kits...:?[QUOTE="XBOunity"][QUOTE="Desmonic"]

Microsoft is pretty good at saying one thing, then not explaining how it works, much like the cloud.

Why would I even want to do that? Sony sends free devkits for indies. ok buddy, you are stuck at a certain place. This is huge news and will mean better indies for xbox one.

Great move by MS. Seems like they are finally waking up and smelling the coffree. Whoever was in charge of the X1 policies should seriously be fired cause that guy made a complete messII_Seraphim_II
Or maybe MS wasn't ready to talk about some of these policies and features. And everyone wanted answers to questions MS hadn't fully answered themselves. And you get confusion and a muddled message.

yes this is the case, one thing for sure these people are way interested for a console alot of them said would be dead at launch. well regardless, this is huge news for xbox one, so expect the haters to be hating hardcore.

Better? Oh now I'm curious so see what marvelous logic comes from there  Do explain. I think it's pretty cool they're doing this. But who knows how accessible this will actually be anyway? If there is a way that XB1 can be used as a dev kit that only serious programmers are gonna be able to take advantage of, and Sony sends free dev kits, I dont see the big deal besides it's a cool idea.So... what does everyone think of the announcement?

Hahahahaaaaaaaaaaa....
Â
Where are those who claim MS isn't copying sony in everything..
Â
They are basically micmicing sony step by step,so the no Kinect bundle is a posibility and MS is denying it so that people don't hold on and buy the $500 model now..
Â
They should also shange the name from xbox one to xbox 4.

Oh please the backtracked like hell, just like they did with DRM,online need it and used games..

The xbox one isn't selling as the PS4 is and MS knows it,is not getting as much Indy support as the PS4 and they know it,it most have been pretty bad for MS to do a 180 like this again,MS is basically eating all its arrogance before the console even launch,no wonder Matrix was fire..

microsoft also just had change there boss to julie larson green. Looks like she is off to a good start. This could be big for indies because of the use of the cloud and Kinect. neogaf now loves the xbox one. dont you quote neogaf all the time?
