Let see you run OSX :)

MBP_King

actually, that is completely possible. probably illegal, but certainly possibke.

ok then, 3 o/s's including Server 2003 WITH a 0% load.

So basically you admit your Mac Toys are inferior compared to Windows?

I make my living working, repairing, upgrading and maintaining Window based systems. I have come to my own educated decision having worked with both extensively , that Mac OSX and the MBP are vastly superior to any Window based PC.

Anybody who buys a Mac is not interested in gaming. There can be no argument when I say that PC is a much more superior gaming platform than Mac. Everything else, video editing, photoshop, music, etc... is personal preference.

I agree with AHUGECAT. Whether you call it Windows or PC, it destroys a Mac. A Mac isn't child-friendly. A Mac cannot run simple programs. A Mac can only run games when upgraded. Face it, Mac's suck.

By the way, I didn't know there were so many people that used Mac's here. Geez. :x

How is your $2000 MacBook Pro better than my $700 Dell Laptop? My Dell has better specs, is more stable and has much better apps.... and it also looks better as well.

Better specs? I have an 8600 GPU, core2 dual 2.4, 2gb ram..you? More stable? You're kidding right? You lose all credibility with that blatantly false statement. What better apps do you have? Looks better? That's subjective and again, I have my own opinion and the MBP is teh sexy :D

Well for $1000 I could get an 8600GPU, dual 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM and a 320GB hard drive from Dell. Or a $2000 for a MBP? Yeah, I think we know the answer.

And OS X may be the most unstable OS ever (at least released this century).

And how do you explain this?

Actually with a $1000 you can get an e8400 + mobo, gtx 260, 4gb ram, 640gb hd, 650w psu, 22" monitor, speakers and still have some cash left.

i bet half of those claims come from people upgrading to vista with insufficent specs. Vista was running slow on my computer (i only had 512megs of ram  ), i upgraded my RAM, and now it runs perfectly...even when it was slow, it never crashed on me either...

and what are you going to do with those "superior" specs? photobooth? majority of the features in OSX are just useless bonuses, how many of us are web designers, etc. ?but hell, if you got the money, blow it on a mac

i will admit that mac books are superior to MOST consumer laptops, they just are flatout better when it comes to battery length, portability, etc.

I have similar specs but I bet my Windows machine runs faster than your Mac machine (which is usually the case - Pentium 3's for example were even faster than PowerPC G4s, Macs are just slower).

And yeah, but Apple's pricing is outrageous period. The MBP should start at $999 (while the MacBook start at $599), not $1999. There is no reason to spend $1000 more on a limited OS when you can get something better.

The Mac Book Pro only has 2 memory slots so 2x2 GB is what it already has and you can't add more. Theoretically you would two of these: http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?IMODULE=CT51264AC667

4GB sticks to make 8GBs. Totalling to a price closer to the quote coming in at around $640.

I must re-iterate "theoretically" because as far as I know the MacBook Pro only supports a maximum of 4GBs, or at least that's what your link says. I assume for it to support 8GBs of memory it would need some sort of OS upgrade. Throw in cost of labor to get the upgrade done and it does add up to around $1000 to get 8GBs.

P.S. For someone who spent a lifetime "fixing" PCs it seemed like you should know that...

It should be either

PC vs Mac, which nowadays is bassicaly reduced to visual and energomics preferences as you can install Windows on mac and OSX on PC. Between those two I prefer PC hardware. Why? Stronger, cheaper, far bigger selection of components. I also don't like how Macs look and how they often sacrifice usability for "sleek design". Plus from all laptops I like Thinkpads the most and they're bassicaly complete opossite of Macbooks from design ideas point of view

OSX vs Windows? Windows for me. It has far better software support, not just games, but majority of software I use is PC only, without OSX alternatives of comparable quality. Plus Windows has much better driver support, it doesn't work as smoothly, but eventualy you will get bassicaly everything to work with Windows... on OSX most of the time it either works flawlessly from the start or won't work at all . Plus I do have enough experience with Windows to minimize it's disadvantages compared to OSX (for begginers Windows is harder to use and less secure)

Bassicaly with computers I prefer power and flexibility over simplicity and ease of use, so PC and Windows is natural choice.

Not having to be a part of Apple fan group (which over the years I learned to hate ;) ) is just a free bonus :D

Again, Google is your friend  You should research your statements before someone shows you don't know what you're talking about.

This is from 2008 because it's the model I have..You know for accuracy and stuff :)

"Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch (Penryn), at $3,149 (direct)"

I couldn't help but  at that quote from your source.

I paid $1799 for mine :)

I'm sure you would of paid less for a non MAC brand.

You do know I can boot into Windows and play Window based games, right? I have The Witcher, BF 2142, STALKER, BF2, Guild Wars and CC3 TW installed at the moment. :)

Mr_Apple_Soup

None of those are native to OS X.

and you have to BUY vista in order to do so...

I get any MS OS for free, we have volume licensing. :)

That doesn't make sens since you have the same PC for less...

Your example is 2 very different cars with very different specs.

The company I work for, I am encouraged to install the latest OS on my personal machines so to better trouble shoot clients future issues that I may encounter. That's really brilliant, isn't it :)

Yeah but the Windows machine is superior to the Mac machine.

If OS X could run all the software Windows could (or at least all the games and major software), and was cheaper, and had a better dock, it may be worth buying.

Not a valid comparision. Bentley is universaly better than FOrd Escort, Apple products aren't universaly better than their competitors,

Better comparision using car analogy would be that Mac is like a famili mini van, while PC is like a race car you've tuned yourself ;)

I don't see how that is relevant to the argument MAC or Microsoft...

Mac user have to buy OS windows if they want to use it.

The way OSX integrates with the hardware makes it very different from any other laptop I have used and I have 3 other laptops in my house.
