Microsoft to discontinue X1X

It's hasn't even been 3 years and Microsoft is going to discontinue Xbox One X. People that purchased one, how do you feel about your console possibly being an afterthought for the One S? Not at all surprising and in fact I’m sure I read somewhere before awhile ago that this would be a likely scenario. I really don’t see how anyone who has purchased one should be bothered by this as Microsoft isn’t treating it as an “afterthought” because they are still supporting with their first party games for two years after the Xbox Series X launches.

It makes no sense to continue to sell the X1X when both the Series S and Series X will fundamentally replace it.

We'll likely find out on the 23rd, but there have been heavy rumours about replacing the One X, thus discontinuing manufacturing. Ergo, new consumers will buy the supposed new console, as opposed to the X. Likely clearing up manufacturing lines and driving down costs.

As an X1X owner I dont have a problem with this. Microsoft will support the ability to play games on my X1X and then on the series X when I upgrade. It wouldn't surprise me if the new baby brother to series X costs less than X1X and then nobody would buy a X1X anyway.

Meanwhile you have to buy a PS5 to play an expansion pack to Spiderman.

You can bet it's because they are about to start selling a new rough-equivalent to the X1X from the "Series" platform. There's no point to manufacturing the 1X any more if that's the case.

I'll eat my hat if the lockheart will be more than £400 but even at £450 who would buy an Xbox One X?

Rumours and common sense is all we have at this point, the general feeling on this forum is the SX will be $499 which which likely makes the lockheart to be around or less than Xbox One X is now.

Before covid the xbox one X was been sold for as low as $299.

If anything MS is continuing support by making games cross-gen. I would be mad if I bought a PS4Pro considering they are dropping support for it so soon. I'm happy I stuck with my base PS4.

Xbox One X was pretty much fan service since original xbox one/Kinect failed. Not surprised or fazed by it being discontinued. I figure to get another 2-3 years out of mine as a companion to Ps5/Series X.
