I wish I could agree with you, but Amazon is showing a pretty big rush on the S Model. How long this will go on remains to be seen, but so far, all seems well for XBox despite literally not having exclusives.

I don't support their vision they are not even putting the games on Steam they are forcing us to play on their platform with inflated prices trying to scam PC gamers because they know they can't charge us to play online.

In the real business world, MS realized we are massively bigger, and in more homes than Sony or Nintendo EVER will be through our Windows OS. So W10 store and Xbox is where you can buy our games, they decided. And those that cry and whimper about "true exclusives" are a dying breed because they were fooled into believing exclusives were ever more than about money.

Unless they allow Steam to sell their games I don't see windows ten being the great winner or this strategy. Forcing people to buy through windows store is a nightmare

Paint it anyway they want. As a company, maybe that's how they see it for them, but as a gamer, I needed exclusives to justify me keeping the console. Consoles are too expensive for me to eat up and sell their PR nonsense.

Got rid of my Xbox One, planning on replacing it with a cheap Wii U. At least there's over 10 exclusive games I want play on that. Where as there was only 1 exclusive in FM 6 I wanted to play on the Xbox One.

How is it a nightmare? You click the buy button, it downloads and installs and then you play. OMG... what a hassle for the average consumer. Yes, it still lacks integration of certain things like mods, linking UWP apps to run from Steam, extensive overlay support, etc.. However, it has certainly improved with fullscreen, V-Sync toggle, G-Sync/FreeSync support. For the average person who just wants to get a game and play it, it works fine. They will continue to improve Windows Store and Xbox services on PC.

Cool with me. Just hope MS start to put effort into fixing more peoples concerns with the W10 store.

not complaing about how they make their money. but releasing maybe 4 exclusives a year is not worth the hassle of building a pc for. a console is the easier route for exclusives to the average computer user. unless the scorpio can be used as a pc platform or as a PC itself i dont see windows store taking off for games.

Regarding the thread title: I think this was always the intent of the XBox brand. My understanding was that the XBox was built to push the MS gaming platform into the console space, not to create something separate in that space. It wound up being that the console brand was stronger and more recognizable so I think they kind of half-assed their PC endeavors for a while, but now they have looped back and completed this vision of an integrated platform

Actually, as a hardcore console gamer, I've never had any interest in building a PC..

Until now..

Since i'll have any entire library of Xbox Live games available to me on Windows 10 PC along with a relatively easy and safe "one click" install/uninstall of games from the Windows Store, the next time I'm in the market for a PC (which will be in another year or so), i'll go ahead and buy/build one capable of running those games..

See how easy that was?.. do you see the value now?.. Do you see the leverage?..

A game being also available on the PC doesn't take away from the fact that its on the xboxone. Why on earth would a gamer that isn't interested in PC gaming REALLY care if they share games with the PC? Truth of the matter is the only people that care about "the exclusive arms race" are the fanboys who need something to brag about..and microsoft just made it clear they don't care anymore.

If microsoft can fix all the issues with the windows 10 store and release a game on the PC with little issues this move can pretty much change the way people view gaming on consoles.

I still don't understand why I'm reading through this thread and seeing "meh exclusives" as though exclusives are a good thing. They are good for Sony/MS and nobody else, how does the quality of play increase because you have to buy another system? Why is Uncharted 4 better because it's on PS4 versus PC? Why was Halo better because it was on Xbox One instead of PS4? Only for MS/Sony and the fanboys drink up the Kool-aid. Cross platfrom is the future, not IP whoring. Higher install bases, better and longer lasting communities, and true software innovation.
