Microsoft: "Xbox" is a platform now, not just a console.. Console sales don't matter, Xbox Live activity matters..

@lawlessx: What's fanboyish about wanting a developer to dedicate their time to optimizing a game to run great on a single platform? Sonic the Hedgehog wouldn't be a thing without Sega wanting to put it all out there with blast processing.

@pelvist: more games to play on pc. Any issues that arise at first with the platform will be ironed out because Microsoft knows how to handle software. What are the negatives?

Lets forget everything Microsoft have done in the past that is detrimental to PC gaming, killing off PC centric studios and their franchises. Now they want to sell you some XBOX ports on a "universal" platform with their own store where its the only place you can buy and play their games. Games they will be holding to ransom for anyone on the fence about the store which they undoubtedly have planned for a subscription system when they have enough content that their new younger generation/ex console gamers will be happy to pay for - Games with no mod support to make DLC more appealing. Microsoft do not care about PC gamers they want to line their own pockets at the PC gamers expense by using people like you who are easily suckered in with a few over-hyped XBOX games.

A few years from now, Microsoft will have made a mockery of everything that PC gaming stands for with their second attempt at GFWL.

Yep... won't affect me, I don't play any of their games. Last MS games I played were Age of Empires 3, Rise of nations and freelancer, over 15 years ago. They don't make games like that anymore. I play mostly top down rpgs , civ, space sims, and paradox strategy games on pc...which I get on steam.

Too bad Steam OS is hot garbage.

Anyways, if MS wants this to work then they HAVE TO not only FIX their store, but totally revamp it...

They'll have Window 10 exclusives now. lol!! None of these games will play on PS4, NEO, Wii U or NX. That's all Microsoft cares about.

Some people simply don't understand what "exclusive" means.. the Windows Store is going to be unified across all Windows 10 devices after next month's Redstone update.. Which means these game are EXCLUSIVE to that one store: The Windows Store..

And those Windows Store games can be played across all Windows 10 devices with the hardware specs to support those games.. A gaming PC is a Windows 10 device.. A powerful gaming laptop is a Windows 10 device.. A Xbox One console is a Windows 10 device.. And they all will use the same store, same log-in, same cloud saves, and everything else that signifies a single product..

The sooner the haters understand this, the sooner the healing can begin..

its very possible for the windows 10 games to run fine on both platforms. And seriously man..there is NOTHING the consoles can do that the PC can't do 10x better. There is no "secret tech" in the xbox 1 or PS4 that make magic happen during development. I haven't been microsoft's biggest fan in ages, but this new direction is a big win-win for PC gamers and xbox gamers.

The only way Microsoft can salvage the declining Xbox brand is by releasing their exclusives to the PC. Its just like saying "I give up Sony you win like you always do". #JumpAhead down a cliff lol

If only they had sold it to their gamers as a "platform" back in 2013. Oh well, we know the XBox fanbase will roll with any punch and so do they.

The Xbox fanbase is angry, im one of em. Were not taking this crap anymore.

I wish I could agree with you, but Amazon is showing a pretty big rush on the S Model. How long this will go on remains to be seen, but so far, all seems well for XBox despite literally not having exclusives.

Well said. You're an idiot if you cant look at the consumer times and adjust. Only here in fantasy, fanboy ownage land does exclusive to one platform really matter.

In the real business world, MS realized we are massively bigger, and in more homes than Sony or Nintendo EVER will be through our Windows OS. So W10 store and Xbox is where you can buy our games, they decided. And those that cry and whimper about "true exclusives" are a dying breed because they were fooled into believing exclusives were ever more than about money.

PC GPU with R9-290X and GTX 970 or greater attach rates are terrible.

For Doom 2016, your GTX 860M result is inferior to XBO's result.

Doom 2016 XBO build used AMD GCN's intrinsics to reach it's result.

@bobrossperm: a lot of their windows games are going to be first party so they will be getting money for that. Theno there is licencing, the fact that they also get paid for Windows sales, any boost in pc usage is a boost for Microsoft. If Sony follows and opens up their console to pc too guess who wins? Microsoft. They are providing an awesome feature and business model that would only increase their own revenue if their competitorsite tried to emulate. This is Microsoft swinging it's big d. Their dominance of the pc platform is their trump card and they are finally playing it. Would be interesting how Sony responds because like I said any attempt to emulate this would ultimately help Microsoft this doesn't mean Microsoft has won the war, no one will ever win the war, but the Xbox platform is being positioned to be the largest and most diverse platform with the most options for gaming. And the best thing about this is that all this is great for us the consumers

"most diverse platform"

Microsoft can't even afford to make diverse games, lol at them being the most diverse platform.

Cool. Don't really bother with achievements anymore but it would be a shame not to have them carry over, lots of time and memories invested in them over the years and many good friends on my list.

Was initially excited for Scorpio, but it might be time to get off my ass and build a half decent gaming PC as it is becoming harder for me to find relevant reasons to continue with MS consoles from now on.

Shit is getting real!!!

@ronvalencia: While that is true to some degree, Apple and Google aren't really big in the PC gaming scene, so the revamped Windows Game Store is definitely a jab at steam.

And if MS wants to play with Apple and Google they need to get their phone division up to par to compete. Because right now they are getting destroyed. Surface is a highlight, but MS knows less and less people are relying on MS software. Heck I have an Imac at work, a macbook at home, a ps4 with PSVue and an android phone. Other than office being on my Macs I'm completely out of the Windows atmosphere and MS doesn't want that to be the case.

And to be honest I don't miss windows. I have a 6 year old gaming pc that I'll play a game on every now and then but I have no desire to upgrade it and keep using it. (It has ps4 level graphics now but I can't run a lot of new games even at minimum anymore)

If anyone thinks for a second that if the XBox One was a commercial success, they would be doing this, you are out of your little lemming mind. Developer and publisher support dried up for the console. It's really that simple. You can buy the repackaging or not, but I'll be damned if you Lems playing List Wars the first six months of this generation over your exclusives while Sony fans were waiting for Infamous to come out are all of the sudden going to change your tune and not be called out.

If exclusives weren't important, then how did the PS3 catch up and beat the Xbox 360? The emperors new clothes are kinda shabby. We're seeing through it. They are running back to PC because they found themselves in a very similar place to where the Gamecube was. First party being the only avenue for exclusive support to a console is not a good place to be. So, they're turning around and leveraging their PC store to woo support from third party.

They have to still fix UWP first though. They made a step in the right direction by allowing options for vsync control but they need to do more. Lots of people still hate the platform due to missing features compared to what they find elsewhere.

Windows 10 is one platform sir.. after the Redstone update next month, the Windows Store will be unified across all Windows 10 devices.. a Windows 10 gaming PC is a Windows 10 device.. a powerful gaming laptop is a Windows 10 device.. a Xbox One console is Windows 10 device.. my Surface Pro 3 tablet is a Windows 10 device.. even a Windows 10 Mobile phone is a Windows 10 device.. All the same apps and games exist in that one store across all Windows 10 devices, it just depends on if the hardware is capable of running that game or app..

So yes, all those games will be exclusive to the Windows Store and only playable on Windows 10 devices.. a single exclusive game available on one single OS, using one single account, from one single store..

PS4 wins again.

As long as you recognize that these games are Windows 10 exclusives, only available from the Windows Store, and only playing on Windows 10 devices, my point has been made..

those are excluive now according to you. So in the end, PS4 wins again and is current gen 8 KING is sales, games, exclusives and recent AAAAe exclusives.

When Lems compare Windows Store to the ubiquity of Gamestop or Steam, you know they have lost the plot. Welcome to left field proper.

exclusives on 2 platforms...lol!!!!!

PS4 wins again.

No, I'm adding to your point and from the rest of world perspective. I'm glad you acknowledge PS4 is current gen 8 console leader. That's all that really matters. Carry onward son.

Ok, you've been fishing for awhile now and it's looking pretty sad so i'll bite:

Let me ask you a question - When the Neo releases, will the new God of War still be a platform exclusive?.. yes or no?..

I say, yes.. In terms of gaming, God of War for the PS4 and Neo will come from the same PlayStation Store, using the same core OS, the same cloud saves, the same username log-in, the same online community, the same trophies, and will require the purchase of one single game that's playable on both.. the only difference is the hardware configurations..

By that same token, In terms of gaming, Gears of War 4 for the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC, will come from the same Windows Store, using the same core OS, the same cloud saves, the same username log-in, the same online community, the same achievements, and will require the purchase of one single game that's playable on both.. the only difference is the hardware configurations..

So again, I ask you: Will the new God of War still be a platform exclusive for Sony once the Neo is released?..

If only they had sold it to their gamers as a "platform" back in 2013. Oh well, we know the XBox fanbase will roll with any punch and so do they.

The Xbox fanbase is angry, im one of em. Were not taking this crap anymore.

Let's be real here:

The only reason they're doing this is bc their Xbox is selling like shit and they want to make more money.

They know they're way behind what the expected and look at Sony.

So the ventured their exclusives to a new avenue to make up the difference.

A unified store does not make a system. One can have a Windows 10 PC and never even create a Microsoft ID (I know, because that's what I do). A PC gamer can bypass MSes portal to content altogether and use other systems like Steam. The path to integration of platforms is not nearly as strong as the case you are making. Especially given the current state of the Store Apps and their piss poor run environment in terms of games.

I'd almost say, you have a stronger case for PC gamers running to XBox to just avoid the debacle of the Windows Store, and that wouldn't even be particularly cheeky on my part. That's saying something.

The question is utterly nonsensical. No one is equating Neo to being anything other than a churched up PS4.

So how do you plan on downloading Windows Store exclusives without buying them from the unified Windows Store?..

It will be a PS4 exclusive. I'm not waging a war on vocabulary for the sake of being pedantic.

Microsoft wants to broaden their ecosystem and announcing a bunch of exclusives that can only be played on console would go against that goal (the other cow argument of "no exclusives").. "Xbox One & Windows 10 exclusives" are essentially "Windows 10 exclusives" since the Xbox One and Xbox Scorpio are Windows 10 devices.. So as far as Microsoft is concerned, they have plenty of exclusives that can only be played on Windows 10 devices to include the Xbox console..

Anyway, for all you PC gamers (both old and suddenly new), seeya online via Xbox Live and welcome to the family.. :-)

Xbox 360 continues to maintain its lead in the U.S. console market. Xbox 360 sold 96,000 units, more than any other console in the U.S., making August the 32nd consecutive month Xbox 360 was the best-selling console in the U.S.

Boy how times change this was the same company who brag for 32 months about how they won NPD while they loss world wide..lol

This is a simple case of we are getting are ass kick so we don't care about sales.,.
