It doesn't matter what the 'difference' aside from hardware is between the two, it remains PR bull because you don't get to arbitrarily re-define what a console generation means. Operating under the same premise you would have to argue that the Xbox and Xbox 360 are both sixth-gen consoles which isn't true either.

Going back for decades now hardware capabilities are EXACTLY what define console generations.

To be fair to Sony, they have changed quite a lot since the PS3. They've just looked at the 360, built a stronger one and stuck a PS4 logo on it.

They chose an easy to develop for architecture, big emphasis on indie games, a unified online experience full of social features, an image heavy UI, an ergonomic controller, a mic included with every console, pay to play online, Kinect rip-off, little features like being able to charge the controller even when the conole is off. Basically everything the 360 can do, Sony took.

Truth is......you cant name one. ALL the same old features and gameplay, nothing new.

The PS4 is basically a stronger PS3. Why? Because that's basically all most gamers want. Nearly no one wanted the policies and 'innovations' Microsoft was trying to shove down people's throats if they purchased an Xbox One, hence all the reversals. Now the Xbox One is basically a stronger Xbox 360 after all the policy reversals Microsoft has done, and I'm ok with that.

Poor Microsoft, still upset that their vision didn't work out, now they have to copy everything Sony does

Thats what I wanted, a more powerful PS3.

I dont want a all in one set top box, I want a game machine. Thats why I buy game consoles, to play games. Thats part of the thing that turned me off about the xbox one is because its trying to shoe horn in everything including the kitchen sink. When you try and make your product appeal to as many people as possible and try to do everything possible at once then you end up making an inferior product in every area because you lose focus of your audience and spread yourself too thin instead of just focusing on what it is youre trying to make.

Thre PS4 is just a stronger PS3, lol. At Least the Xbox One can turn any TV into voice/motion control that seamlessly switches from game to tv and back again. Add in Skype, NFL fantasy football app, exclusive TV shows and Kinect included in each system I at least see a console that offers a number of things the X360 doens't out the box. PS4 is PS3 will bigger arms, lol:)
