:? Did you read my post? That is the NA release list.
I haven't ignored any of the other games either. What I'm trying to say is that ontop of releasing a boatload of games we've already played, Nintendo releases games that only the long-time gamers recognize and care about. Those types of games will probably not sell to the new majority of consumers unless it's marketed to them like crazy.
I also agree that Miyamoto deserves respect and has had influence on how we game today but if you read the "Iwata Asks" articles, I'd hardly say that Miyamoto has been the only driving force behind the Wii's success.
Edit: It looks like I missed Wii Fit + and Wii Sports Resort. Both supposedly sold quite well, but I guess not good enough, I don't even know if Nintendo would classify Wii Fit + under "game".
forgot_it
Then why is A Boy and his Blob there? That's not from Nintendo.
Anyway, isn't games that only long time gamers care and recognize about what System Wars wants!?! The New Play Control series wasn't marketed to us, it was marketed to the guys who never owned a Gamecube, which was perfect considering how huge the Wii is and how little popularity the Gamecube had back then. Nobody was complaining about them since Nintndo was still doing new games, and those NPC games doubled their the amount of games they were publishing, which is usually low.
Anyway, Miyamoto was talking over the game industry last year as a whole, not them themselves, since they were the ones that sold the most last year.
Isn't it time for Miyamoto to start considering settling down in a nice retirement home like other old people do?Messiahbolical-That's just a Western thing I think. Usually elderly people are revered, not thrown away to a retirement home so that we don't have to deal with them.
I agree, I love the Wii hardware and what it can do... but seriously the software department is really lacking.
I loved the way Metroid Prime 3 worked as a FPS, it's just sad that no other shooter on the Wii works as well (That I know of). (I haven't played Red Steel 2)
It's pretty much the same way on the DS with Metroid Prime: Hunters
[QUOTE="Fuhgeddabouditt"][QUOTE="Sandvichman"] Halo 3> All nintendo games i have ever played.SandvichmanMetriod Prime 3 > Halo 3 Halo wars> metroid prime 3

Not just 2009 for me but going back to N64 is when it started.
64 did had some hits though but they didnt last. I wonder did cartridges ruined it for n64
Gamecube was weak while the wii is not for mii
PSP107
Yeah I kind feel the same although for me it was the whole GC/PS2/Xbox era where many of the supposedly "top/best/core/hardcore/AAA/etc" games started losing their basic fun and focusing more on the presentation/story/amount of content etc.
I liked games more when they were more about pure fun, meaning the basic gameplay and importantly having simple fun controls, than the cinematic experience.
I actually had a blast playing Ghostbusters on Wii the other day because it reminded me how much fun games can be when you can just blast everything and cause chaos and have fun doing so. The game isn't perfect by a long way but by God it's a lot of pure unadulterated fun!

As much as I respect Miyamoto, I disagree with his opinion. I've had plenty of fun playing Halo 3, Team Fortress 2, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Counter-Strike Source, Final Fantasy VI, Deus Ex, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, Serious Sam, Age of Empires 1-3, Half-Life 2, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Goldeneye 007, Quake III just to name a few.

yeah but u had San Anderas, 007 and Half Life 2 was a remake if not mistaken.Mistake on my part...Although, all it really means is that Nintendo's 2009 release list is even worse than I thought. Then why is A Boy and his Blob there? That's not from Nintendo.

Games that only long time gamers care for and recognize are what gamers (not necessarily System Wars) wants, but gamers are just a small group of people.
New Play Control! wasn't marketed to anyone, Nintendo just threw the titles out there to make a quick buck and nothing else. Those games aren't even appealing to the general audience. I would be really surprised if people just magically started buying Pikmin and Donkey Kong when Nintendo hasn't pushed them towards their new market at all. Also, what does it matter that they more than doubled their publishing thanks to NPC! :? If they released 1 new game and 10 games we've already played, it would be that 1 new game that matters and not the 10.
Regardless of all that. You said 2009 wasn't mostly NPC! games (when it clearly was) and that by this time in 2009, they stopped making them (when the last NPC! game didn't come out till August).

I wish every single developer had this mentality. Unfortunatlely, Miyamoto's words isnt getting him a free pass from me.
InfinityMugen
I'm glad not every single developer has this mentality. When you're BioWare, and you put out fun games every year, this mentality is not necessary.
Miyamoto needs to work on his adult audience. They've practically been abandoned.

Unfortunately, the review sites did find it fun. It was AAA here, and it sold well, so obviously quite a few people found it fun. I did.
I mean really, just because you didn't find it fun, that doesn't discount that it was one of the highest rated games last year. Or that they followed it up with Mass Effect 2, one of the highest rated games this generation. Either game obviously beat anything on the Wii last year. BioWare by itself spanks the Wii.
BioWare's been doing it for 12 years now.

SMG was released in 2007. By my counting, that's 3 years ago bud. Since you think BioWare is some upstart, let me educate you. Here are there RPG's (original) since 1998:
Baldur's Gate-- 9.2 (1998 )
Baldur's Gate 2-- 9.2
Neverwinter Nights-- 9.2
KOTOR-- 9.1 (GOTY on just about every other website)
Jade Empire-- 8.4
Mass Effect-- 9.0 (PC), 8.5 (360)
Dragon Age-- 9.5 (PC)
Mass Effect 2-- 9.0 (2010)
Their average effort is AAA. Ninty can't touch them right now. 8)

wow amazing how this new generation of gamers emerged.Miyamoto is like a vessel of the game industry he pumps the blood into it.DAO is not the highest
rated game this gen SMG is bottom line so someone needs to step their game up how dare you even compare a legend to a new one dimensional
development team that was only in the game for 10 years like i said try 20 and have a rated 97+ game and more then one then we can talk. thats the
problem with Bioware and Bungie And the rest they are one dimensional they have one genre and just completely develop every game they make under that
genre try to have games as iconic and critically acclaimed as Metriod Zelda And Mario. And by your logic SMG>all since its rated the highest so take a history lesson before talking about a legend have a nice day bud;)

Ya Miyamoto.... go entertain people with "great" titles like Wii Music. I'm sure gamers can't wait for Wii Music 2."I think it is obvious that when everyone is connected online, there will be enormous opportunity for me to create something really unique," Miyamoto said. "But my job is to try to entertain as many people as possible, and I see all Wii owners as the audience. Of course, we have Mario Kart, which can be played online by multiple people. So we are gradually expanding the experiences using the Internet, but my own personal focus is to try to entertain people, even if they are not connected to the Internet. That is my first priority."
I wish every dev was like this... maybe we wouldn't have games with 4 hours campaigns and what not.
