Sony and MS just don't get it anymore. They're so out of touch.

wii music looks greatnaruto7777

You can't be serious. Every gaming journalist has passed it off as time wasting garbage. It requires no skill. You just mimick what's on screen. Its the dumbest music game ever made.

[QUOTE="Quofan"]

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="Quofan"]Face it, you lot had made up your minds about Nintendo being the anti-christ a long time ago. No better than a bunch of fanboys defending a console to the death. Only difference is many of you seem determined to attack them to the death.Pvt_KIDO

Yes Quofan, I'm the evil anti-nintendo beast that wishes death and destruction on them. *Looks down at his Wii*

Where were you when all the "Teh Wii is ruining gaming" threads were being posted on a daily basis?

I know you have been on these boards for a while Vandal, im sure you have seen all the bashing. Face it, Nintendo cannot win no matter what they do. They took the hardcore approach last gen, it got them nowhere. The GC was derided as being pretty pathetic at the time. Suddenly, now that they decided to make a console more like the PS2, the GC was apparently a success for the hardcore.

Is it just me or is there some major hypocracy here? Be careful what you wish for.....you just might get it.....

No, the Gamecube failed becuase

1) It used Mini disks so developers had even less space to work with.

2) No online

3) No CD/DVD play back was a nasty blow considering both the PS2 and Xbox 360 had it.

4) Another weird controler, and it had less buttons.

5) Lack of thrid party support which resulted from 1,2, and 4.

6) Lack of mature (and by mature I mean games that are meant for an older audience) games. Geist and Resident Evil, yep. That where it ended.

That's a possibility, but what he said is also a valid one.

[QUOTE="shadyd1717"][QUOTE="bobbetybob"][QUOTE="shadyd1717"]

[QUOTE="SSCyborg"]Who do they think is going to be watching? The casuals? :lol:bobbetybob

This. Gamers watch E3, not aunt Sally and her nephew Billy.

Who do you think watches it in the crowd? YOU? Other "Hardcorez"? No, the press, not see the topic about Nintendo being on all the news sites? Do you not understand that Nintendo is utilising a convenience, that's what E3 is a way for them to show off upcoming games that will excited the press. Not to show off big games just to try and "WIN TEH E3!!!!"

Big games excite everybody:|

"Today Nintendo, makers of the Wii console, announced a new add on for the console which follows your hand movements exactly on screen, this was demoed with a new Wii Sports game, also on show was a Wii music game which features over 50 instruments, and a new game in the Animal Crossing series, a virtual life game similar to the Sims."

Or

"Microsoft Sony and Nintendo have all appeared this week at the E3 exhibition in Los Angeles, each giant has announced numerous new games for their gaming consoles, Microsoft showed off the next in the popular Japanese game Final Fantasy, Sony showed off big hit game God of War 3 and Nintendo displayed a new game in the Zelda series."

You know that's what would've happened if all Nintendo hadannounced just a game like that.Just face it that what he said is true, E3 is business now, and it's good business to get news outlets excited and have them say news purely about a games console which is popular. It'd be like if there was an music convention and all Apple showed off was the i-Pod, Sony could show off the best MP3 player the world has ever seen and you can guarantee that the i-Pod would still get more press.

Would it have hurt Nintendo to show both?

After watching the conference, it was plain as daylight that their attitude to E3 was completely different to what most of us expected. Although the poor showing of Nintendo is deserving of criticism from us, i was surprised at the number of people having drastic reactions such as selling their console or throwing it in the bin, taking bets (or whatever) and then riding on the Nintendo-hate-train. But, oh well, this is SW afterall.

Yep. And there won't be a single PS3 or 360 game in the news. But wiimusic will be all over mainstream press for months to come. Like it or lump it, E3 is not what it used to be. It's vastly smaller and much less imporantant. It's a place where mainstream gamers can look at the PS3 and 360 games that were announced 1-3 years ago, and where nintendo can show off it's new casual stuff.

[QUOTE="air_wolf_cubed"]Did you really miss the point of this topic saying they didnt reveal games cause they will somewhere else?sonicmj1

No. I'm just saying that's a lie.

Nintendo said the exact same thing last year, and all we got was Wario Land between last E3 and this one. What makes you think that this time, things will be so different?

cause we hardly know of any nintendo games and e3 sucked? Dont give me that Nintendo isnt making anything crap cause thats a real lie

As I said, they tried to pull this on us last E3, and it simply wasn't true. Why is this time so different? You think I don't remember the Gamecube, and its massive game droughts?

I'm only willing to be fooled so many times.

if they mentioned the same thing last year we wouldnt have to go over again thus proving that never happened

Every year I watch CNBC mention E3. Its not like they are suddenly just starting to pay attention now. Its always been the biggest gaming show of the year for the mainstream press. It promotes the industry as a whole. Lets people know video games are big business. Nintendo wants to exploit it to promote their trash; fine. Let them do it. But when their next console rolls around the gamers can let Nintendo know what we thought of how they returned our trust in their Wii. They betrayed us so they can take their next console and stuff it. Cause I'll bet the casuals will move onto the next big trend and forget all about their Wii's and Wii sports.

If E3 is now for investors and retailers, then why wouldn't Nintendo have shown or at least publicly announce a new game in a classic million-selling franchise? Zelda, Mario, whatever. They still make alot of money AND move hardware. That should count for something regardless of all this core/casual bs.

It's one thing for Nintendo to have a decided focus on casual gaming, you can't blame them from a business perspective. But this e3 showing was so disappointing because it was strictly and only casual.

I was just wondering what exactly people wanted Nintendo to show?

They just released the big three (Mario, Metroid, SSBB) so those were out of the question, and since they just finished, they are in very early development of their next core games.

Zelda Wii is confermed to be in developement, and has been for over a year, but its confermed they are still working on the main idea for the game.... so a trailer would be out of the question.

So they showed Animal Crossing, which has been in developement for awhile probably, and announced Pikman 3. So with Animal Crossing, Pikman coming, and a Zelda, Mario, Metroid, and Super Smash already out, what did you guys honestly expect.

I don't like it either, but WHAT GAME did you expect them to announce, what? :?

I think the problem is that Nintendo jumped the E3 ship too early. We still expected a show like the E3 of old.

...

...

....

And also that Reggie apparently didn't get the memo. :?

I won't get into the debate as to whether or not that exhonorates Nintendo's piss-poor performance but it is certainly true that casual games even in MS's conference were the key feature.

The real question now is where we are supposed to go for a yearly blow out. Is that a thing of the past?

Was that even officially confirmed? I dont think it was. I think the problem is everyone pinned their hopes o a single event, instead of just waiting for official news. They are making hardcore games. They just didnt reveal any new ones, as others are saying. Its not the end of the world. People are happy enough to JUST WAIT for the PS3. But as soon as Nintendo makes tham wait for something, people start foaming at the mouth and assuming they arent making any hardcore games.

Its pretty stupid to expect anything new from Nintendo anymore. I was a real idiot to think it. Sorry. I'll just wait for the next Mario game and keep my mouth shut. Mario Sluggers right? Yeah. Lets play that.

When it was announced E3 was to change, I dont think anyone (including myself) really took it in. I think thats the main source of the disappointment. After all, everyone had a poor E3. Maybe this is the reality check.

Why would you expect Kid Icarus? Just enlighten me, cause I really don't know why everyone seems to think Kid Icarus is getting another game....

Its pretty stupid to expect anything new from Nintendo anymore. I was a real idiot to think it. Sorry. I'll just wait for the next Mario game and keep my mouth shut. Mario Sluggers right? Yeah. Lets play that.

I really hope you are joking through out this thread.... cause you don't seem half as mad as you did yesterday.

And how is Kid Icarus something new anyway???

I guess Sony and Microsoft didn't get Nintendo's memo about E3. Cause...they showed core games.

air_wolf_cubed

Cause I'll bet the casuals will move onto the next big trend and forget all about their Wii's and Wii sports.

your so bent on this e3 never changed thing. face it its smaller your not going to to prove to anyone it isnt

Smaller doesn't have to be dumber. Sony didn't seem to have a hard time showing real games people actually want to play.

But I guess showing no games is what E3 is all about. No more games to show.

Nintendo's conference was funny sh*t. But its these extra comments that are pissing me off. They wanna go casual..fine..but stop insulting the ones that put you on top.

[QUOTE="WAIW"]It's the best way to recover from a crappy conference, but then, he just told us all of Ninty's conferences will be bs like this one :| Tylendal

You're in denial, E3 is not what it used to be.

Who do they think is going to be watching? The casuals? :lol:SSCyborg

The investors... The retailers... they want to hear how well the company is doing, and why they should support the company. Simply saying the name Grand Theft Auto is better than showing a pikmin trailer. Announcing the sequel to a hit game is bigger than showing more about Warioland, a game we already know about.

True, to us the conference was dissipointing, but to the media... to the people actually in the seats at the theatre? Nintendo stole the show. They have a very different idea of what makes a good showing.

And developers are giving interviews and showing more of their new games, and personally, I want to see that and that actually gives me the impression of which console will be doing better or so. And right now, Nintendo was the weakest.

Is this Nintendo's excuse for their horrible E3 Press Confrence and Showing, or is TGS really the new E3 to developers?

The E3 Media and Business Summit, formerly known as Electronic Entertainment Expo and commonly known as E3, is an annual trade show for the computer and video games industry presented by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). It is used by many video game developers to show off their upcoming games and game-related hardware.

E3 is invitation-only since 2007, reducing the number of attendees from 60,000 at E3 2006 to the 3,000-5,000 of E3 2007. A separate conference called Entertainment for All Expo has been created to accommodate the public demand for a major, annual video game event.

This. Gamers watch E3, not aunt Sally and her nephew Billy.

Are you kidding?? of course the casuals, E3 is when all the major networks, newspapers and magazzines dedicate some space to videogames, so yea, of course the casuals, i tought it was pretty obvious

There you go. The mainstream press like Times Magazine, New York Times, MSN, etc. are there reporting E3 and casuals will read these publications and learn all about Nintendo's casual games. This leads to profit.

MS did it with their conference. Sony tried to appeal to casuals with LBP.

Like I said so many times before, this is not the E3 you knew.

Clearly, they're doing a great job impressing the New York Times, inspiring glowing headlines like, "Nintendo and Sony Underwhelm at E3".

Wait a minute...

You would have a point if the NY Times was the only media press present, but they aren't. There are still many other press outlets that attended the Nintendo conference or do you really believe that there was only one person in the audience?

Also, whether or not Nintendo succeeds in captivating the mainstream press is another issue. The main point is that they are given a forum to talk to the mainstream press and they have taken advantage of it. The gaming press is also present, but they are more connected to the industry and they get interviews with Nintendo personnel year round and they attend the more gaming focused conventions like TGS and Spaceworld.

So it makes sense that during the one time of the year where the mainstream is present that they would want to address the casuals more. Like I mentioned above, MS and Sony are starting to realize that now as their conferences were pretty similar to Nintendo's.

You know what the whole lot of YOU so called "Hardcore gamers" can go do your worst. You should show nintendo not to mess with you and your "special needs" by selling your Wii's. i dare all of you to go and sell your consoles. Nintendo has released Mario, metroid,Fire emblem,SSBB,MKWii,BWII all in the span of 1.5 years. What the f**k more do you want?It takes atleast a year to make a wii game and nintendo doesnt release a game without polish so expect the average nintendo made game on the wii to take longer than a year to make.

It is also a FACT that e3 is no longer the e3 we know...only 3-5k people are invited.

The question is not if that was possible, the question is if it was necessary. It was not, because we, hardcores, already knew of what Nintendo is/will be developing, thanks to the fantastic internet and all our "sources". There's are entire thread in this forum about Wii games coming out, so yes, that "we still have core games, we just wont show at E3" seems to be true.
