Traditionally, Nintendo doesn't asist to the TGS... :?

Simply gotta wait for official announcements.

Things can change, who knows...

You got a point. I hope Ninty decides to show.

Why do people omit to mention all the videogame sites and mags when talking about "the press"? Aren't they the ones who will be doing the most reporting?

The press itself at E3 is vastly made up of hardcore gamers.
DireToad

Becasuse those magazzines will come out every month and core gamers will read it every month, the other "nongamer" media gives more space to videogames just because its E3, and core gamers looking for e3 news wont look at nbc, casuals will.

I ocnsider this damage control by nintendo.

They ****ed up at E3, and they where criticised for it. So they come out and say "but but, we still have core games, we just wont show at E3"

Seriously, they make it seem as if its impossible to show both core games, AND the s**t they threw out at e3. nintendo has abandoned the core gamer, thi is just damage cotnrol.

IronBass

´

The question is not if that was possible, the question is if it was necessary. It was not, because we, hardcores, already knew of what Nintendo is/will be developing, thanks to the fantastic internet and all our "sources". There's are entire thread in this forum about Wii games coming out, so yes, that "we still have core games, we just wont show at E3" seems to be true.

ninty truely sucks now.

It's the best way to recover from a crappy conference, but then, he just told us all of Ninty's conferences will be bs like this one :| WAIW

Best way to end a conference that was far below expectations? -Agreed.

All Ninty's conferences will be like this- Disagreed completely. I mean, how do you figure that? He just said E3, specifically E3. So how did you get that all the conferences will be like this? Maybe all the e3's from now on. Nintendo will have a conference that will show core titles, i mean, how else are they going to debut Zelda?

If Miyamoto is saying that is why nothing was shown. Then I feel better. That lets me know that Miyamoto has not forgotten the cores. But then again, Miyamoto = god. So I should not lose faith in the man.

The hardcore crying should do 2 things: 1- Read the second and the third articles in my sig. 2- Cry a bit more.MagnuzGuerra

I'd read Birdman, but I didn't know he had other articles. Thanks for pointing those out to me, I've just been reading them for the last hour. :P

Now that they've changed their focus at E3, it's certainly a possibility. Still, even if they don't we've got E for All about a month later.

You know, if E3 was for the mainstream press, and not the enthusiast press, why invite press outlets geared towards core gamers at all? After all, the conference isn't intended for them.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to give people a negative impression of Nintendo if the message isn't directed to them.

I somewhat agree, but at the same time Nintendo let the Core gamers hang to dry this E3.

Well ever since the down sizing of E3, its obvious something was gonna change. There arn't as much games etc. Wait for the tokyo game show or GDC. Thats hardcore time.

IMNSHO ;)

Ya know what all are missing here?

Nintendo is the Only VG company save SEGA  - that can, If they so choose, to bring to the stage in a immediate way a Freaking Megaton !

But Nooooo !

I don't see it happening - to say I've lost All hope though, would be fibbing.

Lay some VG smack-down "n" ( cap. comes back when you do ) or forever hold your casuals.

Most people knew this already, but I hope this is the final nail in the coffin of that silly argument that Nintendo have abandoned the hardcore and that Nintendo had a "bad" E3. A new Pikmin, Star Fox and Zelda are all in development.

Quofan

well atleast show us that with a teaser are something.

At the old E3 you could announce a game with blaring music, pyrotechnics and 50 half naked women (instructed that they must take pic with any and every sweaty, nerdy, smelly, etc person who comes to the booth) running around your booth... which was designed to look like a stage from one of your other titles. You take away all the spectacle and everyone realizes, "if it has to be boring... couldn't we just invite the press out to our place or make a blog post and watch as millions of forums around the globe go crazy? Why do we have to pay the ESA and fly to LA to do that?"

Oh yes E3 booth babes were awesome.

Why do we have to pay I dunno but since E3 changed it's been pretty boring for 2 years straight.

Nintendo shows nothing exciting really. (Well Motion Plus is cool. Beating my friends with a stick will take a while to get old :D)

MS shows what we already seen.

Sony since I don't have a PS3 YET I wasn't keeping up with the games so it was cool.

No, Gamestop Managers, Walmart, Target, Bestbuy, Circut City, and others Buyers( the guys who put in the orders for games) and mass media. This is the event that the come to... They sell stuff to the casuals, they don't need to know what the core want... they already know, we make that clear...

How many casuals will of heard of Leipzig, or PAX?

E3 is far bigger than all of these, ad get more media attention because of it.

So Nintendo had a terrible E3? What made the other 2 so great?

MS: I didn't watch it, but from what I did see and hear, they spent a lot of time on Lips, VPII, and a new Scene It, new X-Box Live feature and Netflix, Fable 2 and GEoW 2 we knew about. They had one WOW announcement with FF13, which lets face it, won't be out before the next E3.

Sony: Aside from a neat sales pitch in LBP and a long spot on Resistance 2, they showed media and conectivity features, and a little from games for far off we really don't know if they're out this decade.

Maybe I'm too old, or just too easy to please, but I don't care about games that are 1 or 2 or maybe even 3 years away. I want to know what I'll buy in the next 3to six month. Then once I've enjoyed those I can worry about the months after. Yes I'm interested in FF13 the DC Universe game, Fable 2 and a few others, but I'm more interesested in the dozens of games I'll buy before those come out. We're still waiting on a lot of the big reveales from past E3s (KZ2, RE5, SC4)

The E3 Media and Business Summit, formerly known as Electronic Entertainment Expo and commonly known as E3, is an annual trade show for the computer and video games industry presented by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). It is used by many video game developers to show off their upcoming games and game-related hardware.

E3 is invitation-only since 2007, reducing the number of attendees from 60,000 at E3 2006 to the 3,000-5,000 of E3 2007. A separate conference called Entertainment for All Expo has been created to accommodate the public demand for a major, annual video game event.

I think this should end ALL discusion!!!! E3, as it currently stands, is only about trade groups, developers, business and the media! Gamers? What are they? They means fark to the people attending the show! E for All is the show for gamers! If you want truly big annoucements and games, go there. E3 is for industrial insiders only now!

Its silly to think that nintendo has abandoned its core gamer considering their core games have sold alot. Galaxy is at 6.7 million, mkwii is at 6million,brawl is also at 6million.

its not what E3 is or isnt, its what nintendo is. Nintendo is for casuals. Fact. yeah bla bla some games here and there. A gamer buys a wii and a ps3. wii will be collecting dust after a few weeks. it does not offer the what we now call this gen gaming experience. motion sensing is a half finished piece of technology, the upcoming wii titles is casual trash, and nintendo has failed the fans to deliver the franchises it had on the n64 on yearly basis. Yeey super smash brothers Brawl! yeah, keep playing that game for the coming 3 years.

The unbolded part is all a matter of opinion. There are so many Wii games I haven't even gotten around to playing because I've just been playing Brawl and Endless Ocean for the past few months, with just a dash of Metroid Prime 3, and Super Metroid. For me there's far more than enough.

As for the bolded part... Motion+ will be the other half :D

Au Contraire! E3 is pretty much the only gaming event that sparks interest outside of the industry. So, if a company wants to deliver a message to someone other than the rabid fans, E3 is the place to do it. If they want gamers to know something, all they have to do is whisper it at the end of an alley on a dark night. It'll leak somehow. :)

I asked a LOT of people in random interviews (people know me quite well for doing that) and no one outside of the core gamers knew what E3 was. It shows up on the news due to it's giganiticness (though not this year or last year due ot scalebacks) but the announcments made there get to the casuals about as fast as an announcment made anywhere else. It's the cores that this info rockets to.

And that's the funny thing too!

Eveyrone I know, Say E3 to them, yea, they know what it is about, at least generally (yea, it's that LA show about video games right?)

You say, TGS, China Joy, Leipzig (It's a city in Europe right?), GDC, and it's like, WTF to them! They have no clue!

To us hardcore gamers, as soon as a game like MGS or Super Mario is annouced, the next day we will hear abuot it and the fans will start foaming around the mouths!

Casuals, nothing...They get their news from places like E3....or from word of mouth. This is why showing games like Wii Sports 2 is so important if you want to tap into that market. What do you think Casuals care most? Wii Sports or Resistance 2? Let's just say the news have been going gah gah over WS 2 and Wii Music and now my wife is riding me to get those games when they are out!

It makes it on the news, but it's still a gaming convention. Loads of casual gamers I know still don't know what E3 is, and the news from E3 reaches them about as fast as it would reach them announced any other way. Gaming conventions are for GAMERS, no matter how big they are!

he doesn't really care about hardcore gamers. He needs to retire and let new people overlook the nintendo games. All of us here should be against that notion since we are all hardcore gamers here. casuals don't come to these forums; his is just like a slap in the face to us the people that actually watch and anticipate e3

well this is nintendo and they have never been forthcoming with info

I like nintendo so I am biased, but I dont see how you could hate nintendo just because they dont give out info. As long as they keep making games who cares? Angry about not having forum fodder?

id like to make a request

id like someone to list the names of all the press that attended e3 this year. all, meaning game related press like gamespot, ign, 1up, g4, etc. and regular press like new york times, etc. if you dont know them all, just list as many as possible. i want to see which side has more press present. the normal press or the game related press

Remember, nintendo called animal crossing a core game just a couple days ago, and I think we all know it's not. So them saying they're still making core games isn't exactly an announcment of anything. We still have the right to be pissed that they're not showing us that they're making core games nor announcing any core games.

Yeah, well E3 is a "Business Summit". You want a gaming convention, go to Liepzig, TGS, or back in time two years.

WTF is Miyamoto talking about? All hardcore gamers were satisified. We got AC for the Wii and GTA Chinat Town for the DS.

That's as hardcore as they come 8)
