[QUOTE="kittykatz5k"]Well, E3 has come a long way from that crowded carnival of giant thousand doller stages and huge announcments. I still think they're stupid though. This place is not your casual every so often gamer spot of intrest! This is a convention of the hardcores.Tylendal
Au Contraire! E3 is pretty much the only gaming event that sparks interest outside of the industry. So, if a company wants to deliver a message to someone other than the rabid fans, E3 is the place to do it. If they want gamers to know something, all they have to do is whisper it at the end of an alley on a dark night. It'll leak somehow. :)
And that's the funny thing too!
Eveyrone I know, Say E3 to them, yea, they know what it is about, at least generally (yea, it's that LA show about video games right?)
You say, TGS, China Joy, Leipzig (It's a city in Europe right?), GDC, and it's like, WTF to them! They have no clue!
To us hardcore gamers, as soon as a game like MGS or Super Mario is annouced, the next day we will hear abuot it and the fans will start foaming around the mouths!
Casuals, nothing...They get their news from places like E3....or from word of mouth. This is why showing games like Wii Sports 2 is so important if you want to tap into that market. What do you think Casuals care most? Wii Sports or Resistance 2? Let's just say the news have been going gah gah over WS 2 and Wii Music and now my wife is riding me to get those games when they are out!
