I want to pick this up. Have not played any of the Show games despite knowing how good they are, and I havent owned a baseball game since MVP.

Really. "Few significant changes from last year" for The Show and none for Black Ops...

PS3 and 360 still have their AAAAE/AAAE/AAE/AE battle going on.:P
PS3 leads in AAAAE and AE while the 360 leads in AAE and both are tied for AAAE.:P
If you look at it this way, the more AAE's PS3 gets this year, the closer the two systems will be by the end of this generation.:o Closest gap in terms of quality between two consoles in terms of GS review scores ever?:P As if it wasn't close enough already.:P
From what I see the spreadsheet has been updated(finally) and they are tied in AAAE and AE, but PS3 takes the lead because it has an extra AAAAE against the 360's extra AAE.
Oh my bad! I just checked now that it got updated finally.:)
Also the main difference at the moment is: PS3 has one AAAAE more than the 360 and the 360 has one AAE more than the PS3. Pick your choice.;) Damn it's much closer than I thought, but I guess that's because of the spreadsheet not being updated.:P

I think a point system would be sweet ... AAAAE=5 AAAE=4 AAE=3 AE=2 Multiplat=1 I'm bored enough to do the calculations to see where all systems sit. :PWhy end there?:P Let's make a graph with all those data and make sure it's some sort of function that we can derive or some s***.:P Ahh bring some Calculus love to SW.:P

360 isn't ahead. They are almost tied, but PS3 comes ahead with MGS4 and it's mighty AAAAE against some extra AAE the 360 has.

Despite that, let's not forget the forray of quality Kinect titles Microsoft will release (similar to Dance Central) + their core titles of the year (Gears 3, Forza 4 & Halo CE remake + anything they haven't announced due this year).:P
It'll be a tie in terms of AAAE for both system by the end of this year, the PS3 will probably overtake in terms of AAE but the 360 will probably overtake in terms of AE. That's my prediction.:)

Yeah. Actually many of those AE's are thanks to Kinect, it gave 360 more games than Move to PS3. But I remember seeing some threads with lists of exclusives for this year and the difference was huge and I remember seeing Kinect games included in those threads.

Actually, the 360 has no AAAAE and 1 AAAA. So that one AAAAE to zero in favor of the PS3 which more than makes up for the 360 having 1 more AAE. What a drought for the 360, i never thought the PS3 would catch the 360 in AAE's.[QUOTE="djsifer01"][QUOTE="sanim02"]

In order for something to flop, it has to have hype. MLB didn't get hyped this year, mate. But isn't it better to have "great" exclusives this year, then having none at all?wow new record for cows, 3 MAJOR flops in 4 months( I predict every ps3 game to flop this year)

From the review "You can make a good case for this being the best baseball game ever made, just as you could have made the same case for last year's MLB, and the one before that. But at this point in the franchise's evolution"
So the reviwer is asking to ascend beyond perfection ?!! why changing what is perfect? I wonder why we dun see such points in Halo or CoD games.
I still don't see why people make these claims about halo, it's added lots since it was made. It seems people like to ignore all the content the games add, on top of that the gameplay has actually changed since the first, not drastically (until reach) but still changed none the less. From the review "You can make a good case for this being the best baseball game ever made, just as you could have made the same case for last year's MLB, and the one before that. From halo 1 to 2 they added multiplayer and that was arguably the turning point in console multiplayer (making it popular), on top of that they changed the game mechanics a bit with taking out health and changing to regenerating health. From halo 2 to 3 they added tonnes of features and that's pretty much isn't debatable. They added forge, theater, 4 player co-op, file share and the best stat tracking I've ever seen in a game. Forge makes custom games feel unique, since generally people don't always play the same map, add that to the amazing customization they included for gametypes and custom games are amazing in the game The addition of equipment changed the game play a fair bit, probably more than it's given credit for. From the review "You can make a good case for this being the best baseball game ever made, just as you could have made the same case for last year's MLB, and the one before that. From 3 to reach they didn't really add too many features pretty much it was just firefight which had already been in ODST, but it included it in a whole new package containing more content than any other shooter on consoles. They updated forge making it more user friendly allowing maps to be created with ease. Also Reach is what the haters wanted, they changed the gameplay a lot. They added armor abilities, like them or not they change the pace of the game and how it works, personally I didn't like armor abilities as they seem to be abused but it does change the whole way the game is played. The addition of bloom when shooting makes you have to time your shots which has never been a problem in halo before. So please do tell how it hasn't changed at all. :)
Well, I didn't read the entire review, but from what I gathered, it seems like The Show has been such an excellent game in recent years, that San Diego Studios could be having a difficult time adding tremendous amounts of new features / innovations.
Dang, that was a long sentence. Sorry. :P

I was sarcastic about the campain, I dun believe you took it seriously, lol. Anyway, I dun think all what you had mentioned is evolution, it's just the natural progress for any game, refinement and adding new features, the true change was between Halo2 and Halo3 which was a generation change, they should have made it this way. I played Halo1 and Halo2, they played similar, felt similar, looked similar .... I didn't play 3 or reach but when I look at them I see the old halo in better gfx, of course this may change if I played the game myself but I dun believe this is an evolution. From the review " The one real quality addition is the new analog pitching interface, which is so stellar that it is hard to go back to the old pitching controls", this seems like a game changing feature, dun you think ?!Is Franchise mode improved?X360PS3AMD05
From the review:
"Road to the Show has been fleshed out with tweaks that make developing a pro more realistic in subtle ways. You now adjust sliders at the start of player creation to set up what kind of major leaguer you want to create. You establish an archetype, which means you choose to set up the likes of a speedy center fielder or a hulking third baseman who hits moon shots. New training modes now pop up as you progress. These hitting, fielding, and pitching minigames are more purposeful than before and tend to deal with useful talents such as learning to take and recognize pitches. System depth is now a major concern as well. Get drafted by a team deep at your chosen position, and you might find yourself outplayed by a rival, which of course means you have to get used to riding a bus for a while."
&
"Before, at-bats and innings on the mound were sort of all-or-nothing propositions. If you got a hit or an out, you would clock training points to be doled out to various skill categories. If you recorded an out or gave up a hit, you wouldn't clock any points. Now, everything is rated in a more nuanced fashion. Long, loud fly outs earn some points. Hanging in there for a good number of pitches before going down earns some points. Forcing a batter into a lot of cuts even if you eventually surrender a single earns some points. And so on. Overall, this new system is a more realistic way to showcase player development."
Those are the biggest additions to the system, outside of controls and modes, I think.
---
I'm eager to see how Move feels. The reviewer said it "works pretty well". Too bad its support is limited to Home Run Derby only.
---
One last thing. Here's another excerpt from the review:
"A few frills have been added to some of the above options, though nothing is going to stop any presses. Up to four players can take part in co-op action, both online and off. You team up on the field and can swap at-bats with buddies. Games can also be played cooperatively against the AI, giving you an interesting option when head-to-head action grows stale. Of more interest is the all-new Challenge of the Week, a solo experience where you try to clock points in specific situations, such as Joe Mauer hitting against CC Sabathia. Leaderboards are tracked here and prizes are awarded, so look to this feature to be pretty popular. You have to pay a quarter for each attempt after your first freebie, though."
I'm not familiar with baseball games, but has this been done before? Sounds fun to me, but the reviewer makes it seem like it's nothing special, lol.
