Mocrosoft DESPERATELY needs MORE EXCLUSIVES, because SONY is oozing BRAND NEW IP

The last of us, ni no kuni, starhawk, dragon's corown... man, the list of PS3 Exclusives grows by the day.

Its gotten to the point where 360 goes through a 12 month AAAE drought until each september when MS decides to release their gears/halo redux.

Going by the 360's Black Friday sales, reports that Sony is almost bankrupt, not to mention the popularity of Kinect and Kinect software, and the pending next Microsoft console.......Looks to me like Microsoft is in the best position of all three companies. Nintendo just had their worst year ever and the Wii U has been nothing but negative news for the last 6 months, Sony is once again over charging on Vita hardware, and Microsoft still gets the best 4rd party sales.

Guess we will find out in a year.

They are focusing on Kinect right now and it seems to be working quite well, but I do agree that Microsoft really need to get some IP's prepared for next gen. Because Gears spin offs are most likely going to be multiplat and Halo/Forza/Fable aren't going to cut it, for me atleast I really don't care about Forza or Fable, so buying a console for a Halo game every 2 years isn't worth it.

I'll probably stick with PC and see what PS4 and WiiU does.

Why would they spend millions to make "hardcore" exclusive game, when they can spend half that an make a motion controlled mini game collection and make the same amount of money? I hate this fact, but from a business perspective it the smart thing to do. You are kidding yourself if you think Sony is watching Nintendo and then MS go after casuals and make tons of money and then decide to stick with the hardcore gamers. It's looking like the last bastion on the hardcore gamer is going to be the PC.

From a gamer's standpoint, absolutely. However, MS is making money without the investment and potential risk of new IPs. Unfortunately, I don't think you're going to see a whole lot of new exclusives from them. Not this gen, anyway.

microsoft is still selling 360 like hotcakes so until they struggle and are not happy with sales than they will maybe decide its time for more games.xbox360isgr8t

I only own a PS3 (don't play games on my PC) but have to strongly disagree with you, being completely honest there is an ongoing situation with some games that when they are ported to the PS3 they, well frankly they suck (the worst culprit of these being Bethesda), so you will find that of the many people that have both consoles, the vast majority will probably favour the 360, or if they have the funds buy for both.

Exclusivity is not really something that matters for you guys that have a 360 as you usually get the better coded games of the multi-plats, where as the exclusive to PS3 games are being made specifically for this console and are coded for it so they are usually a better quality than the PS3 games that are on other platforms.

From a business stand point not really.

Agreed. If they do something retarded next gen and consumers ignore the nextbox, that would force them to concentrate on exclusives. I am still amazed how much MS has changed this gen. The first few years of this gen they were getting game after game after game. Now they love kinect.

The 360 appeals to everyone MS has nothing to worry about. The differences in exclusives between both the PS3 and the 360 are almost non-existent compared to the PS2 vs Xbox of last gen, it's nothing to brag about unless your an ignorant idiot. Sony's main focus right now is to keep themselves from going bankrupt so they need to do anything and everything possible to keep that from being a reality. Loyal brand name followers of Sony should be more concerned with that rather than foolishly bashing other platforms for silly reasons, because they may have to eat crow and buy an MS console in the future if they still want that kind of experience.

Hopefully this will be adressed on the next console, obviously it will take a lot to do something revolutionary (and doubt there has been sufficient time yet) but would be nice to see the PS4 (or whatever they call it) have slightly less cumbersome coding to reduce the problems developers seem to be having.

I think this is also another reason why the supposed lack of exclusives on the 360 is not a problem, the system seems easier to work with and so any game that is out for PC/Wii/X-Box/PS3 will look better on this above the other two consoles, and I would expect with the next console they will bridge the gap between Xbox and PC quality a little more which should make some PC only developers more interested in bringing games over.

- only support 3 exclusive franchises. check

sony didnt technically own "sucker punch" until earlier this year, but they always were a sony developer considering that all their games were sony exclusives.

Indeed, I agree, but it's not like all of a sudden people are going to rush to buy ps3s in droves and microsoft will sink into big trouble because of these games. They will be fun yes, but this mentality that Microsoft must play catch up because of a few arguably niche games is a tad silly.
