[QUOTE="legalize82"][QUOTE="Wiimotefan"]why terrible news u should be psn+ anyway... just download 1 free game and u got ure money back i did yesterday downloaded infamous 2 Unless you stop paying then you lose those games. They are rented. why would i ? i think i downloaded more than 500 from psn+ storeI'm guessing you missed a lot, its been an eventful show.
Funny thing is, even with this terrible news, Sony still managed to piss on MS.
Phazevariance
it did seriously put me off, and i am still annoyed at this move
but i will still buy a ps4 for Battlefield 4 :D
and Star Wars Battlefront omg!!
[QUOTE="rogerjak"]I see the monthly fee as a strategic move. "Oh MS is doing all this crazy shit? Lets do the opposite but slip monthly online fees, it will be somewhat obscures by all the other crap".
And it is. But I'm still not happy about it.II_Seraphim_II
Thats exactly how it went down. They saw how badly MS was messing up with DRM, so they said "if we have no DRM and a a great price, we can easily slip in PSN requirement for online play and people will forgive us." and to be honest, it has payed off. People are generally not too mad about it, but I'm with you. Im really not a fan of charging people just to play games online. All the other stuff sure, but gaming should be free.
Indeed. If some devs have a very heavy online mode, why not pay monthly fees for that game? Why for the whole portion of the online?I gotta say how funny it is from watching SW and cows killing lems about paying for online but when they have to pay all I see is its not a problem at all or Im happy to pay lol
actually no. I see people saying (like myself) that they are unhappy with the fee and I see other saying they are pay PS+ so they don't care.I gotta say how funny it is from watching SW and cows killing lems about paying for online but when they have to pay all I see is its not a problem at all or Im happy to pay lol

This is exactly how I saw it. Give a few days to resonate with people, I'm sure we'll start seeing a small backlash by then.I see the monthly fee as a strategic move. It will be a deal breaker for a certain amount people, and yes I am dissapointed (not a deal breaker for me personally though).
There are those people who only rarely game online (10/30 days or so...), then those who only game online through the holidays...
Those who are present ps+ subscribers won't be annoyed too much I imagine since it offers such good value anyway.
Â
However I would have preferred the current online system where online is free & ps+ services are £40 annual.
Ye its dissapointing news, not a deal breaker as I hardly ever play console for online, I just use my pc for mp. Kinda sucks though, should be dedicated servers if your paying.

such bull crap.
I hate how Sony is going all Xbox Live Gold on us.
Nintendo gets hated on, but it's the only company not forcing you to pay a toll.

They were very slick about it. Â They tore through Microsofts terrible policies and while everyone was high on that info they slid in the paid online quickly. Â Almost like a disclaimer in a medicine advert lol.
Sony owes MS big time really. Â Not only did MS provide them the fuel to win the show, but also paved the way for Sony to make millions off of online fees.
although been subscribed to PSN+ for the past 2yrs i still didnt like that Sony will start charging for online play just like i was never happy with MS doing so...
Lets hope Sony will continue improving their online service and keep the free games coming :)
On one hand, I'd rather have Sony keep the two-cost model approach like in the PS3. But PSN+ really provides good value so I guess it evens out.Â
And if they did what would you play online? Mario Kart?[QUOTE="LegatoSkyheart"]

Point is, Nintendo treats their consumers the best. Â Too bad they don't have the hardware and 3rd party support to go with it.

Sorry, Wii and Wii U says otherwise.Â
$5.00 a month x 12 months a year = $49.99??????Nope doesn't bother me, $49.99 a year is chump change, although I might stick with MP on PC if I can upgrade my PC here in the next few months.

Hmmm, both have shit hardware and piss poor 3rd party support. Â Not sure what you're getting at.

Under performing hardware (at a price tag that doesn't quite reflect it's capabilities), remakes of the same games, gimmicky controls. Yeah I can feel the love. What I do is simply add 5 years of subscription fee to the console price and see if the console is worth that amount of money.
That answer tends to be no.

I'd rather buy a PS4 and get PSN+ than a Wii U which comes with free online.Â

PSN+ isn't just an online service though.Â
It also nets you free retail games, discounts, etc.Â
The price doesn't bother me. The policy does. I'm not sure I want to support a compnay that charges for online multiplayer, that was free on their previous console anyway, and free on the PC.

If you think Nintendos games are just remakes then I'd hate to hear what you think of Sony and MS 1st party titles.
Nintendo doesnt charge for online. Â Nintendo doesnt nickle and dime the gamer with shitty DLC practices. Â Nintendo doesnt release broken games to be patched later. Â You get a game full of content that is fully functional, day 1 and very reliable consoles.
You may not like Nintendo and that is absolutely fine. Â They arent my favorite of the bunch either. Â But as far as screwing the consumer goes they look like saints in comparrison to the competition.

Cool. Â Me too.
But as far as business practices go, Nintendo does the customer right. Â Having weaker hardware isnt a shitty business practice. Â

It has nothing to do with the price either. 50 dollars for a whole year ain't that bad. It's about the principle. PS+ is cool and all, but tossing multiplayer behind that paywall is just pushing me towards other platforms that provide it for free. On top of that it's gonna limit the audience. Meaning some of the more obscure games with multiplayer will be barren or downright empty.
The problem is. i'm not big console multiplayer gamer..so not playing multiplayer for nearly 2 months i don't wanna log into psn and pay $5 or $6 just to try the multipayer for some new game that i just bought ( and play online for like 5 hours and get bored ) and watch the gold account for an entire month collecting dust... it feels like i'm wasting money like i did with my live account ( didn't touch it for 6 straight months!! and at that time i had 1 year gold account ) if i play daily on my console and big onlne gamer then sure it wont bother me but like i said i'm not big online gamer so....
Also it would help if sony gave the plus members some free stuff like they did with ps3 plus supscripers unlike greedy microsoft
Â
Â
Â
Â
Another idiot. Just because you can afford something doesn't mean you have to. Why don't you give me a dollar for every post you make? I'm sure enough people would get PS+ because of the deals and games alone. Forcing it on people for online play is silly.lots of broke high school kids in this thread.Â
Â
$50 a year too expensive? i spend more on coffeeÂ
Â
i doubt Sony cares for you tight arse'sÂ
Evo_nine
Not at all, I don't give a crap about online play. I don't think I used online multiplayer once with my PS3. If I want an online game, I'll use the PC.
It is for me. What I liked about the ps3 was the free online and now the PS4 wants to be like the Xbox? I know the price isn't high or anything but I still don't want to pay for multiplayer. If the Wii U gets some good games then that may be the only console for me then for this generation.
