Monthly subscription for PS4, is it a deal breaker for you ?

I quit MP after developers dropped LAN support. So, a PS4 monthly subscription for online is meaningless to me. But, if I do pay for online, I wouldn't cut Sony any slack if there's an outage or something. If I have to pay for a service, it better be top notch. I have friends who have Gold membership with their 360s and they're quite happy with it. Everytime I dropped by, the service seemed to work perfectly.   

PS4 for exclusive singleplayer.

PC for supreme multiplats and multiplayer.

And unlike Gold, all the other apps aren't tied to PS+ so it feels like a less draconian system IMO.

No because I don't have to play online all the time like some do.

I was upset too when i heard that but 99% of the time i play single player games so it doesn't really bother me. For people who play a lot of multiplayer though i  understand their frustration. :(

Let me put it this way: the money I'll be able to save by having the right to sell, borrow, and trade games with others is easily worth the investment of $49 a year. Think about how much more money you'd end up spending if those rights were gone, not to mention you wouldn't be able to keep your games. And it's not even mandatory to pay for PSN. AND there's lots of free games to boot for all systems. At this point, I'm so appreciative of what Sony has done that I have absolutely no problem giving them as much money and support as I can muster. Our consumer rights and the economic value they afford far outweighs having to pay a little more, and that is optional as well. MirkoS77

No. It's literally the only negative I can find about the console and it's less than $5 a month, so it's not too bad at all.

Ditto. I love everything else. If they followed Microsoft's lead on DRM and had a higher price tag, it may hvae been a dealbreaker. But as it is, it's the one negative aspect. So I'll pick one up, not sure if I'll get Plus or not.

It was close to be... until they anounced a 399 euros price tag. I rarely play online so I can live without it.

I'll be honest even if online was still free I would still get the PS+, you seem to get something with the service unlike XBL. But yeah I have no problem with it.

It's so funny that the one littl thing that SONY did that Xbox fanboys claim ownage over is something they have been forced to pay for years. I know a lot of SONY fans were all talk about "no online fees" however that is BY FAR the lesser of two evils. Who the hell cares? lol It is like $50 for 15 months... not only that, but if it means SONY has more money for tweaks and whatever else they decide to do I am all for it. SONY has proven they are the only console for true gamers. I WILL support them, and since I will NOT be supporting X1 this generation, my money that would have gone towards XBL will go to SONY instead. Not that I don;t already have a PS+ account anyways... There was WAY to much money just being left on the table for SONY not to do this, I don;t think anybody is surprised, adn I called it a LONG time ago. Now if they also made you pay for netflix and other things that TVs, Bluray players and the like already do free... Then I wouldn't buy one.

Xbox One will sell like crap and exclusives they have now will be jumping ship over to PS4.

See, MS isn't stupid. Here is the kicker. See how fast that 500gb hardrive fills up when ALL games must be completely downloaded to the hardrive. 2 free games a month better be arcade games, or much like the problems I had this generation with the PS3 you will have to continually delete save files or game installs to make rom for new ones.

500 gigs sound like a lot until you find out you can only access like 415 of that, and then games this gen are likely to be 20-30gb each (for large games like open world/mmo/shooters w/multiple dlc. etc)

Well I rarely play console games online, so I don't care really.

Considering the two next-gen consoles, I'm getting PS4 for sure. X1 is a way too closed system, even for a console.

Already a member.  $4 a month for "free" (full) games, early-access, and other goodies is a great deal.  The way I initially saw it was if over the span of a year I downloaded and played just two games, I would have doubled my initial investment.  But, I probably downloaded well over 30 games between now and early last year.  

I'm sure there are costs to maintaining online services, and, I'm sure Sony could have charged $60 more for the PS4 to help offset that cost.  Or $5 more for a controller.  Or $X amount more per game.  Sure, it kinda stinks that the model is pay per service, but again, at least Sony is offering a little something back for you. 

I dont subscribe to ps+ and i dont really game online so it doesnt really bother me at all, im sure there will be more than enough games to keep me very happy with the ps4 as it is.

I didn't mind it with the 360 and I won't mind with the PS4. What is wrong with some of you? Sony presented their best console since the PS2 and you guys are ignoring it because of a tiny fee to play online? 

Sure is for me, i was allready saving up for a PS4 and when i saw the announcment than it will have a monthly subscription to play games online i lost all intrest compleatly. Both the Xbone and PS4 are now non-existant for me because of this. I'll just use this money to upgrade my PC instead of buying any next gen consoles, no way i'm paying a monthly subscription for a basic thing such as online play.

I was so happy during the start of E3 and now i'm just sad all because of that one thing Sony did, won't be picking up any next gen consoles ever.

If 5$ a month for you is to much and you do not see the value in all the free games they give you, its time to try a new hobby.

Its a deal breaker in the sense that I wont be playing my PS4 online.  Still getting the console though.
