Imagine how much lag that will produce and may even kick players out of the game. It'll be interesting how they work around that kind of stuff. After so many spawns, say 100, it'll probably stop you from making more until some are gone. Problem fixed.

My thread with leaked info from next months EGM.

I'm sure Forge will make it into the game, but to match exactly what has been stated by the original poster is still a mystery. If it can, then it will be AWESOME.

Test it on your 360 anyway Im sure that it would have a lot of complications, but they could probably work something out if they worked hard on it.

It would be hard to test the maps on the 360 because you would have to constantly move the maps back and forth...which would take a long time....especially if you have to do it by disk like on the PS3.

I have the ideas, but I don't have the time.:( Mods to me are a double edged sword for online PC games. A lot of Pc games have mods on the majority of the servers and sometimes I just want to play the dang game the way it was meant to be played, but finding a server with out any mods can be hard.

I just thought of a game. Haha.

You have all played parachute on your ipods, right?

imagine the modder just puts a bunch of warthogs in the sky and drops em, and you have the missile pod or the rocket launcher and you have to survive without getting a warthog smashing you to the ground. Could be interesting to see who lasts the longest. :D

I do not doubt that they are good ideas, smokey. But I've learnt that what makes the other people stand out from the rest is if they actually do them. I would like to do things as well in terms of modding but like you I don't have the time, or I do not make the time :P.

And yeah, it can be hard finding that sometimes. Also the other way around too.

Agreed. While map makers can be fun, it's just not Halo. This is pushing the limits, but it seems likee it's still in the boundries, as youre only manipulating the game that they gave us.

But then again, if they pull of a map editor while somehow maintaining that Halo-ish feel, it would be pretty cool.

In Forge, you have a certain amount of points to spend on stuff to spawn.

But making maps takes forever! Plus that would alienate the tons of people who play Halo that aren't tech-wizards. Also you can do this over XBL with a group of friends! Map-making seems so mundane in comparison.

That would be awesome. I can just imagine now, A hundred Battle Rifles flying down from the sky.

I wonder if Bungie will mention this in their Weekly Update tonight. Probably not as they don't want to steel EGM's thunder with the cover story. Maybe they'll just mention it in their sly Bungie-ish ways. :P

The insanity of this thread. Forge does not support geometry creation or texture modification, a la Garry's Mod, a la Timesplitters, a la Source SDK, a la every mod in existence (meaning UT3 for PS3 btw), a la Little Big Planet.

That makes it, for all intensive purposes, useless. It is not innovation, it is not genius, it isn't anything. Tony Hawk is still beyond this. This only allows you to manipulate "minor" in-game, in-map assets in a very, very "minor" way.

i guess you haven't quite grasped the concept. this is real time, in game play sty-le manipulation.

ex: you can spawn a tank on someone, make barricades, and random other things. read the entire thread. many users have given out great ideas.

Exactly. All the haters love to convenienly skip that part in their rants. That 's the biggest thing about Halo Forge, you can do it online with a bunch of friends, not all alone, toiling for weeks over a map that turns out imbalanced anyway.

Ive read this already,but still sounds fun.Im hyping Halo 3 AAA,man its gonna be so fun.I have yet to play another game online that offers an experience as good as Halo's,mostly due to Halo's community.

Ok I understand there is some confusion to the subject as to exactly where I'm getting this information. Basically to sum it all up, there are several people on the interwebz who have access to the upcoming September issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) magazine. Reading the scans will get you the information I have nicely posted in this very forum.

After reading the details, let's start coming up with awesome or even strange scenarios that could be played out in the Forge gameplay mode. Beit implimentations in the Machina community or just videos and setups where people play out RTS ****games. Remember, you can modify human spawns, weapon spawns, vehicle spawns, objective locations, ammo counts in weapons, ect. Just rack up all the wierd crap that's been sitting in your mind, or when you were sitting there hitting a box in Halo 2 when you wished you could just pick it up and barricade the door... Halo Nation, unite. BRAINSTORM!

Wow, this mode is better than a map maker. I mean, just to begin about thinking of all of the things you and your friends could do just to mess with each other is just mind-boggling.

And to set it up like an RTS is just scratching the surface. If your team was fighting the other enemy you could spawn a -blam!--ton of boxes and crates to block all incoming gunfire. Or even better spawn a couple of tanks by their location, giving your team the upper hand. OMG'z I'm starting to get all getty like a little school girl just thinking of all the scenarios that will be played out once I get my hands on the game.

For any of you who are familiar with Little Big Planet for the PLAYSTATION 3, I'd look out. Because adding very similar elements to a competitive FPS area is just outrageously genius.

Halo 3's Forge should stop alot of the crappy modding. Why, because instead of using Action Replay to spawn several tanks, they can just enter Forge mode and just drop some in.

How about this for a custom game type using Forge? We'll call it "Steal the Bacon" (did anyone else play that game in grade school?).

Pick a map that is mid to large sized and fairly flat and place a large cache of the power weapons (laser, sniper, ect...) and equipment (bubble, drainer) in the center. For starting locations start each team (or player in FFA) on one of the far edges of the map and start them with only a single short range weapon (perhaps the SMG). But using Forge spawn a Mongoose directly in front of each player's spawn point. Then as soon as the round starts every player will have to get on their Mongoose and race as fast as they can to pick up one of the power weapons from the cache in the middle. I have to imagine that the collision of 8-10 Mongeese all racing to get to the same spot on the map as fast as they can would be pretty fun to watch. And since everyone starts out with just an SMG they are pretty much required to get to the center as fast as they can if they want a chance to win.

Sure it would be unbalenced a mode as all get out...but it sure would be fun. Just set the round timer to a really short limit so that you get to do the initial crash and race for the power weapons as often as possible.

That's exactly (sorta) what I was thinking when I thought about messing with my friends in my lobby.
Just having them dodge tanks and other random crap as stuff was just falling from the sky.

Some things I thought of:

-paintball courses
-giant forts made of boxes for the "Infection" gametype everyone wants
-race tracks
-6+ player tank battles
-Sort of a "hostage" mode where on Elite/Spartan is trapped by boxes/fusion cores/whatever and the other team has to rescue

Halo Forge: Have fun online with a bunch of friends creating puzzles, gametypes, messing around with the physics and just interacting in general, all while being able to record to enjoy/claim ownage later.:D

Halo Forge > level editor.

You make having a level editor sound bad.

In reality it kicks these features ass - no matter what features there are. Undeniably. I mean you could simply have both.

Never the less, im happy that you can fondle with these features in MP. and it will be quite fun. But still, a proper level editor would have been much more awesome.
